Epic Fail

They have already introduced (as I write) all the minigames, etc onto Live.
Epic fail.

I don't get what you mean because they probably havent found any bugs, not everything is bad you know?

ex8404 05-15-2010 11:34 AM

Seriously Eeyore. Unless you are talking about a total server melt-down, the mini-games are OK. Not great but OK.

Potion making is addictive but the ship thing, not so much. It IS useful to repair at sea though...

What is so "Epic Fail" (thanks a bunch, Internet) about the mini-games?

The Skirata Clan 05-15-2010 05:07 PM

Maybe Mr, 93rd doesn't like Mario Party, I mean, POTCO mini-games as much as others.

angel 4ever 05-15-2010 08:35 PM

ya its not all bad but the server thing not great haha but the games r ok :)

Nate Swordwalker 05-15-2010 09:03 PM

I wouldn't call it as much of an epic fail, but more of a rushed update. They put these on open WAY to fast. Yeah, they have some good potions. But are they really the BEST things to put out right now? Are they going to change the game drastically? I think they could have thought more about the potions they were putting out.

Catherine_Wildfury 05-15-2010 09:14 PM

The potions, though I love to play it, were a bit irritating during the invasion when people just wanted to mess with potions and sit there burpin and farting. Otherwise, I'm happy for the games. They're fun and a bit of a break from all the leveling while stayin in-game. Yeah, more of an excuse to play 24/7.

Edward Edgemenace 05-15-2010 09:35 PM

I agree. Epic fail Disney.

The double-speed potions work while sailing and DO cause total server lockup for all other players. Instead of even TRYING to put heartbeat code in to catch people using cheat hacks, they add more for additional server instability. Rocket scientists, eh?

Instead of adding myriad social control features, they antagonize the community with fart potions. Yes, farts are funny now - for a minute. Funny after an hour? Nope.

Sure, the mini-games themselves were tested a little, but the exploits from the resulting potions haven't even been scratched yet. At this point, glitching a potion to infinite duration is still rather simple, but I can't agree that that is a good thing.

Yes, epic fail big-D.

Nelly Darkpaine 05-16-2010 12:08 AM

I logged on for about 5 minutes last night, and after seeing all totally dead servers, aside from those using Fart potions, I remembered why I dont play anymore. The game, IMO is officially dying - and those friends of mine who still DO play are saying the same. =(

Farewell POTCO, I think this games journey is almost at its end.

The Skirata Clan 05-16-2010 12:11 AM

I disagree with you Nelly. The game was dead for a while. They are desperately trying to save it and salvage as much as possible.

Captain Del 05-16-2010 12:36 AM

I hardly think these mini-games are an epic fail. Heck, they are pretty fun! Sure, they may be glitched up a bit, but you can expect that from every update, no matter how long they are tested. I'm sure they'll be fixed soon enough. After all, how long has it been on Open? 2 days, at most?

I completely disagree. Just because you lost interest in the game, doesn't mean its dead, nor is it even dying. The game has seen a SPIKE in activity over the past few weeks. I've seen more pirates on than ever. And with such rapid development in the game, it seems as though those things we have been wanting for so long are just off on the horizon. If this game is dying, then I can't imagine what it would be like if it were healthy!

Nate Swordwalker 05-16-2010 12:59 AM

Del, ye make a great point. The game's population has increased drastically over the past few weeks. If the game is dead now, what WOULD it look like if it were healthy?

MacIronhawk 05-16-2010 01:46 AM

The potions are addicting, and repairing ships is now actually entertaining. However, potions was better on test than it is now on open. They took away a lot from test, and it's such a waste.

I like the increases in speed, weapon damage increases, etc... but they need to fix all these speed glitch bugs first.

Also, all the problems you guys are talking about... I haven't experienced. My game works just fine. Same as always. Maybe this is because it has a lot of memory, and good for gaming.

Anyways, the game isn't dead or dying. They still have millions of players, and once the second story quest comes out, the game will get on rolling again.

HOWEVER, they need to work their butts off. It's taken way too long to get out new content. Disney needs to hire more developers.

Tom SwordRage 05-16-2010 02:20 AM

i dont like the new updates so much because the internet connection failure thing and the repetiveness of the potions

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-16-2010 04:20 AM

I like that Cuba finally got some traffic, lol.

I agree.. :p

Edward Edgemenace 05-16-2010 04:32 AM

Millions of players? Yeah right. Not even a significant fraction of a million, including basics.

Edit: Let me rephrase that. My estimate is that there are far less than 10k active players. Please prove me wrong.

Bubba Bunny x 05-16-2010 04:41 AM

If ya think this game fails so much, then do ya mind me asking why you are posting here? I mean really, c'mon! It obviously seems that you still enjoy to play this game unless what you say is really the truth and that you do not like the path that the disney creators have chosen.

To me, the new potions are fine, but it makes the game seem a little un-real. Also, I dont really see the purpose of the potions such as the farting, burping, changing colors e.t.c... Im guessing they added this to get a few laughs? But Im pretty sure that after awhile alot of people will be complaining that these potions seem disgusting/rude/annoying. Its like a style thats popular then after a few months, you never see it again.

Please prove yourself right, first.

Toontown has gained over 50 million registered users since 2002. With only two to three servers a day that may not seem true, but it is. It's on the toontown fact sheet on the Disney web site.

First, we have no idea how many players make a full server. Second, there is no exact amount of players that Disney has given us for pirates online. We don't know the amount, and anyone claiming to be right is... well, of course lying.

I assumed it was millions because if toontown has over 50 million in 8 years, we can only assume the name "Pirates Online" has gained at least 2 million by now. How many are active right now? No one knows. That's impossible to know unless the POTCO staff gives us the recorded amount.

Please back yourself up with some satistics, straight from Disney themselves.

But the game is not going to die. The name itself brings in players, and once Disney gets their act together more players will be coming in. Just need a second story quest to keep us busy.

Nelly Darkpaine 05-16-2010 04:58 AM

Ill disagree - Im playing an active game. Last night, NO ACTIVITY AT ALL other than a few kids farting. Lovely content Disney.

One day of inactivity doesn't show for a years of complete activity.

And by the way, the first three oceans were completely full yesterday, and today, so I don't see how that's inactivity, especially when the majority of oceans were ideal)

Nelly Darkpaine 05-16-2010 05:35 AM

Used to be pretty active at all hours....

And the farts become unbearable to an adult player after about 10 minutes.
Wish I could say I missed it - and I can tell you, I have many reasons to love this game, I really TRULY loved playing at one point! I met my now husband there, and we were the best of friends and playing partners at one point on pirates... but now, we can't stand it. (As I said, the fart tonics, and the silly stuff with no real content killed the game for us, and for many others.)

We play Guild Wars now - with MANY MANY other ex pirates - you'd be surprised exactly how many moved there. No monthly fees, WAY WAY more to do, and a challenge for all ages. Just good fun. I cant pay for fart tonics. =P

Actually POTCO has 3 million accounts. I made a new pirate, did 1 kill, checked my rankings in Cannons of the Deep, and found out that I was 3 million and something. However, it might just be the number of pirates not accounts. And yes, alot of players will flock into the game once POTC4 releases, and now itself with the recent updates im seeing HUNDREDS of old players coming back. If I were to estimate, I'd say that there are 25-50k Unlimited accounts in the game.

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-20-2010 02:48 PM

people really need to get over the fart potions. It's not THAT big of a deal.

Midhav 05-20-2010 03:58 PM

Yea Will. Just ignore says I. When I get Unlimited, I will NOT use such potions as I feel it is a disgrace to pirates. All the hype about potions will pass on with the next update and people will enjoy it genuinely. When the Invasions came, people were criticizing it saying that it was fun at first and then boring, now they enjoy it as a regular game feature that comes when it has to.

gingeeann 05-20-2010 05:06 PM

:cat-ani:For publicity purposes, computer game sites call all people that make an account and use it for a few minutes as users... it is a marketing trick.
