Potion Leveling Guide

Since it just came out and i actually did this by myself already here's a potion leveling guide.

1) Keep doing the Marksman Draughts before swift foot. After getting swift foot keep repeating until you get the good ole Ghastly visage.

2) Head to Cuba and keep doing Ghastly Visages until you get Swift foot II. Keep repeating that until you get swift foot III.

3) Keep repeating that until you hit level 20.

Very simple hehe he. But i'll make some tips on how to make essences, doubles of ingredients and souls.

Making Second Phase Ingredients
Very Simple, just combine three of the same and you'll make the second phase.

Making Third Phase Ingredients
For Essences this is what will get some people. You have to make three of the same second phase ingredients to make a third phase ingredients usually an essence. What you do is this, you make TWO second phase ingredients BUT DO NOT COMBINE THEM JUST YET. You want to make another maybe a little away but so you can connect them. What you do is make a combination of five stack two on each side somehow butmake sure they all connect. Should make AT LEAST one soul depending on how many you stack and how many second phases you put together at the same time.

Making Forth Phase Ingredients
Gems require THREE essences together. Set up the same way but I suggest making sure there's FOUR setup ready for action. this will create AT LEAST one gem if each ingredient combines and is set up properly. Strategy is key!

Making SOULS
DEFINITELY the hardest thing you can do. YOu only require ONE of them for the last one but they are INCREDIBLY hard. You have to set up SIX INGREDIENTS OF SECOND PHASE NOT connecting in order to get this right. Then connect them with four, but keep placing others in order to have a double ingredient of what you need. PUt it on top CONNECTING the four in order to combine, if done properly should make TWO souls but this is the easiest way I've figured out.

NOTE: To gain the most rep you can, when you have five of the same potion, SELL/TRASH them. If you don't when you make the next potion you are cheated off rep.

Strategy is key, do not just randomly place things around.

interesting i bet it will make alot of sense when i try the potion's :)

I think making souls is easier than making 3 different types of essences. I love how combos work out.

Alright... sounds good!

I'm just going to add on to this with a tip, considering it makes potions go so much faster, which makes for more time to use the potions! :dancetl6:

If you do four of the first-level things, when they combine, you'll get two second-level ingredients. If you combine five first-level, that makes three second-level ingredients. Which immediately makes a third-level ingredient.

Combos are awesome, once you learn how to make them happen. :pirate2:

wrong it does not always immediately make a third yes most of the time but not all of the time

Actually what Cat said is correct.. although they must follow the same guidelines. It's possible to get 5 of one, and have the 3 newly formed objects separated, but what Cat meant is when they can still combine..

If you can suffer through level 14 when you get swift foot iii, you can go on auto pilot to level. Don't know if this is the best method, but swift foot iii, i just keep stacking flush left without any real strategy or shifting around. Finished product takes about 20-50 drops without really even paying attention. 65pts a drop and can be sold for gold.

I am going to add screens soon, I just need to get around to it and be able to have the time.

Nate Swordwalker 05-22-2010 04:22 AM

Weekend is coming up, and I plan to hit 20 soon! Just made level 15. :D

You don't get full reps if you are doing the potion that you already have 5 of it.

For example (tried and tested):
  • Ghastly visage gives you 19 rep each for completing the first 3 out of 4 ingredients (19 x 3 = 57)
  • You dont get 19 rep for completing the last ingredient, however you are awarded 55 rep for completing the potion.
  • 57 + 55 = 112

However, when I already have 5 of that same potion and I continue doing it, I am only awarded reps for completing the first 3 ingredients, which is only 57. That means I am being short-changed of 55 reps.

I wanted to keep doing that potion because it was easy to level, 112 reps top, so the workaround is to sell that particular potion whenever it is full in order to get the most rep out of it.

OK, thanks for the thip BBW. I"m going to update my list now.

Nate Swordwalker 05-25-2010 06:44 PM

Level 18 now, and school is out, so I will be making 20 soon! I never realized that there was a difference in rep if you had 5 out of 5! Thanks for the tip BBW.

Tuefenhandel 05-26-2010 07:20 PM

It must be because I'm so terribly old, but I am having a miserable time trying to make some of these potions. I hit level 12 last night and making gems is apparently geezer kryptonite.

Rozzwinder 08-17-2010 05:35 PM

I dont like potions hehe

wmah 08-29-2010 03:33 AM

I have mastered 3 pirates so far and I am one level away from number four which I will do tonight as I type this.

I have been playing around seeing what happens when you make the wrong potion in bulk. Does it mess up the board? maybe a little,
You judge your self from this photo

on edit: I should add when this happens you get the bonus rep and all the chemicals used in the final concoction to get the bonus rep vanish and you continue making the rest of the actual potion or whatever. And like I said I did finish of the potions on number four pirate and I did this again and got a bonus over 400 but I was a bit slow on the screen capture.

Nic 08-29-2010 03:58 AM

Wow.........

Nice mate... thats pretty good... mind explaining how you did that? I can never make more than 2 souls by doing combos, and even that can be a challenge.

Speedway Master 08-29-2010 05:36 AM

Chemicals? I hope you mean ingredients, and not deadly toxins.

2Cool 08-29-2010 11:02 AM

I hate potions so much mainly because I can't get past Potions Lvl 12!!!

10 souls?! Holy...

wmah 10-01-2010 11:42 PM

just thought I'd mention that for leveling potions I use the bucko brews as I consider them easy. And below I have a couple pictures on how I do bucko brew

http://blunderworld.com/piratesonlin...1_17-46-33.jpg

building it this way will give 5 essence of crab.

Wow, thanks for all the potion tips! Very helpful indeed. :)

Ok, so today I started out at potions level one on my second pirate. Used this guide instead of what I did on my first pirate (basically did the same thing but wasted a lot of time when I didn't do ghastly visage). Hit level 20 a few minutes ago. Was kind of my challenge for the day since it was snowing outside. Pretty proud of the fact that I managed to do it completely in under 24 hours.
