WOO HOO, when is this coming to live.. (plz reply back)

StellaInTheSky 05-07-2010 02:03 AM

French and Spanish hats? Something we have in-game that I've missed out on?

Sarah 05-07-2010 02:04 AM

No one knows when it will hit live. It stays on test til it's tested. For the most part...

Played a few of the mini games. Not impressed at all. I'm not paying 80 a year to play tetris or guide a saw through a plank of wood. I'll leave it at that.

Crestshot 05-07-2010 02:04 AM

No idea on timeline Max. Give us a week minimum, maybe 3 weeks max.

Dog Firestack 05-07-2010 02:25 AM

I personally think these minigames are kinda fun, the fishing has something to do, and for all we know they can tie in with the NEW future quests. I like the new abilities of running, and burping and etc. Though they need that kraken now. Also I like that they added the reputation charts for fishing, and also potions.

Jamesvsthekraken 05-07-2010 02:27 AM

Aye, The New Mini-Games are very cool, and they are not stupid. I actually had quite a fun time testing them out until Maintenance just started.

Speedway Master 05-07-2010 02:29 AM

IMO, I'd rather spend time brewing potions than to set sail and sink ships.

MacIronhawk 05-07-2010 02:34 AM

It's obvious that these minigames were added for a younger group... so now we need things for us older players.

However, for some of the older people that like puzzel games, the potions making will be really fun. I like it... but it's time consuming and failing is not fun.

The only minigame I don't like so far... is repairing ships. It's boring... Why is it in 2D? That's not cool. Make it in 3D and we're talking, but right now it's... arcade play.

Really? I'm an old player, and I'm actually enjoying these minigames myself.

Sven Osymthe 05-07-2010 02:41 AM

I like the current updates. They might not be what many want, but they're still fun for others. My favorite part is the new potions added to the game, I just wonder how that will help out in regular gameplay now.

Ropeburn 05-07-2010 02:45 AM

oh thanks but i think it might come out in about two or three weeks? what do u think?

Jamesvsthekraken 05-07-2010 02:54 AM

Aye, I agree i like the new update. They still need to add The New Fishing, and The New Land Cannon's Mini-Games. :)

Ropeburn 05-07-2010 04:07 AM

lol i can see it now on abbasa.... noobs showing off there potions they created, pirates fighting for the best sailing spots.. its gonn get funny here.. ahh noobs...

Midhav 05-07-2010 05:05 AM

1 week max it will take. its not that big an update

I think it depends more on whether or not there's game-breaking bugs out there.

Dr. Zeppers 05-07-2010 05:51 AM

Obviously opinions will vary. I saw the games as targeting younger players for the most part, having played much better polished versions of some of the ship repair games on FREE social networking sites, they were severly lacking. Its no challenge to move your mouse across the screen ONCE, or down the screen ONCE (cant believe thats a game!). The potion game was alright, a little clunky to me, but ok. Fishing doesnt work even on test yet, as far as I can tell.
Not sure what else there is.

Not a bad addition to the game, just a few of them seem rather low end (you get more exciting things out of cracker jacks).

C'mon, they're just mini-games. I bet by tomorrow some Hard-Core Testers would have already found loads of them bugs. If there are any game-breaking bugs (rare for a mini-game update), they too can be fixed over two days. I'm placing my bets that for a small update like this, it will hit Live in less than a week.
First, let them release the awaiting mini-games (Land cannons, Fishing, Swamp mini-games)

Kat Five Knives 05-07-2010 06:34 AM

Sounds like a cross between Toon Town ( minigames ) and WOW ( potions, and.. was that... FARTING??? omg )

I was hoping for some more original ideas.. maybe I'm wrong?

Speedway Master 05-07-2010 07:07 AM

Here's puking!

JM Ohara 05-07-2010 07:35 AM

Speaking personally I left Pixie Hollow mostly due to the tedium of never ending mini games. I have no desire to play them here. I am hoping that it's possible to play Pirates without messing with mini games.

Midhav 05-07-2010 11:02 AM

But TheHawke, these mini-games are to help the player. You know potions and ship repairment.
I don't know the necessity of Land cannons and Fishing, but probably like all others, there will be an involvement in money

Dog Firestack 05-07-2010 11:02 AM

There's a potion letting you turn into a crab... LOL

Kat Five Knives 05-07-2010 12:03 PM

How about a potion for turning rude people into crabs? Found one of those yet? LOL

You're joking right?

James Bladefury 05-07-2010 12:25 PM

she isn't, there are also potions that turn you into an alligator and a scorpion. Lv 20 potion required!

Jamesvsthekraken 05-07-2010 02:18 PM

How come they got rid of fishing? :'( :( :/

MacIronhawk 05-07-2010 02:30 PM

The only thing I'd like them to do is have an option of doing ship repair in 3D or in 2D.

If it were in 3D, it would be much more... exciting? Sort of.

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-07-2010 02:51 PM

I choose to stay away from the mini-game discussion. On A different note, I like that we can do damage with grapeshot now :)

Juliana Maria 05-07-2010 02:55 PM

What is with the throwing up and farting? Probably just me.. but I don't find those amuzing. The last thing I want to see is tons of pirates gathering to puke and fart. I find it rather repulsive actually.

Fishing is not mentioned in the release notes. Only potions and ship rebuilding. I don't think the fishing spots were actually supposed to be there yet. Maybe they want to test two games at a time and focus on those. Only time will tell.

Jamesvsthekraken 05-07-2010 06:46 PM

The Fishing Rod's/Net's were on Test last night. I think they had to remove them to work on them. :/

Captain Sureshot 05-07-2010 07:20 PM

I'm an older player, and I enjoy puzzle games. If I want to play a puzzle game, there is no reason for me to log on to POTCO to do that, as there is already vastly superior puzzle games available for free elsewhere.

Which is the crux of the disappointment for those of us who aren't too impressed by mini-game additions to Pirates Online.

How many mini-games are already out there? 10,000? 50,000? 100,000? Plus all the more immersive games that also offer mini-games. There are thousands upon thousands of puzzle games. Hundreds of pirate themed games. The thing POTCO has going for it is the unique nature of the intellectual property. I feel that the producers should focus on maximizing that (think STORY; think more interacting with POTC CHARACTERS) and stop trying to mimic what has already been done by others.

If being like Puzzle Pirates makes POTCO 10 times better, then that's really just a great advertisement for Puzzle Pirates.

WELL THAT'S JUST GREAT. Now I have to go pay tons o cash to redistribute me cannon points. After they took out the ability to see peeps in SVS ( and stun them, which was so wickedly fun) and on Flag ships, I dropped grape from my pirates.

-_-

Crestshot 05-07-2010 11:21 PM

I'd suggest trying it on just one of your pirates, Kat, and then see how much damage it distributes, then go to the rest of them. Or you could make another brand new pirate....:)

Sven Osymthe 05-07-2010 11:25 PM

Not sure where to post this, but unlocked invisibility for those wondering what it looks like :)

*you are invisible to others, but you see yourself as the below screen shot.

http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k...Shot7456-1.jpg

And grapeshot does minimal damage, but slows repairs.. so it's not that good.

Juliana Maria 05-08-2010 12:16 AM

Does it show your name Sven? Or is your pirate the only thing that is invisible?

Sven Osymthe 05-08-2010 12:20 AM

No name, its as if i'm not even there.

Juliana Maria 05-08-2010 12:21 AM

That's pretty neat... Gonna make hide and seek all the more interesting xD

bartholomew bladeroberts 05-08-2010 12:34 AM

so thats why fart and puke are in the phase files

Dog Firestack 05-08-2010 10:50 AM

Invisibility owns. Imagine using the 5 minute one in PvP. That would be interesting lol.

You can't open your sea chest during PVP.

Sven Osymthe 05-08-2010 08:46 PM

If you use it just before entering the PvP, it should stay. I think someone should test that.

edit:

I can finally transform, although, you pull a weapon out, you become normal again.

I Agree. Sounds like petal pick up.

Ropeburn 05-11-2010 05:11 AM

im betting this update is coming to live this week (thursday) or next week (thursday), also have u found any mini game bugs here cuz i cant find any bugs.. (its either me or potco....)

Crestshot 05-11-2010 05:16 AM

Hey Max, are you on test?

yea am i just joined about a week ago :p

Dog Firestack 05-11-2010 11:34 AM

Great job on making it max :D

Buck Seahawk 05-11-2010 01:17 PM

I found a bug when you play blackjack. It was at Cuba, and I was going to see about the new cheat card thing. When I was looking through the cheat cards in my sea chest, I tried closing the sea chest at the lower right. I crashed then. I reported it when the bug report thing came up though.

Ropeburn 05-12-2010 04:29 AM

this update seems pretty well, i found a bug that when i was making potions they game crashed (and i was almost there to get the crab potion!!! oh well..)

Basil Dreadflint 05-12-2010 02:14 PM

You know, all this discussion is very interesting. BUT, most of the things that I am seeing posted here belong in the HELM, not in the NEWS. Discussions about new things on test belong in the test forum.

I'm not going to move all of this, this time. It's just too much editing. But please consider putting any findings from the test server in the proper forum.

Ropeburn 05-12-2010 10:22 PM

so i think it might come out tomarrow (i hope!) or next thursday (booo.. lol)

Jamesvsthekraken 05-13-2010 12:08 AM

Depending if they fix stuff tonight. :/

Buck Seahawk 05-13-2010 02:20 AM

Seriously guys, no one but Disney's Pirates Online staff know when these things release. Just don't get your hopes too high.

Sven Osymthe 05-13-2010 02:37 AM

I agree with Buck. It will be here when the staff decides to release it. Plus, the new updates are going nicely, however all of the potion levels aren't available yet, so we're still gonna have to wait.
