When We Will Be Asked To Pay Or Not

This thread is the thread to post on if you're wondering when POTCO will give us the options to pay or not.
Because, yes, there are two versions of the game: the complete one that you pay for, and the portionated one that you get for free.
:D

Ugh... I really hope we don't have to pay for this >_<

I mean POTCO. There are two versions of the game: pay and no pay.

Ngendi 03-14-2007 10:07 PM

Hopefully we'll be given the option before we start to play to pay or not.

Hopefully!
I wouldn't want to play and get pretty far, only to find out I have to restart for the paying version.

To me, it really depends:

If they have the paying system like ToonTown (Oh please no) I guess I'll pay. My guess is that they'll make all people pay including public beta testers.

I was at the fan screening of Pirates at the El Capitan in Hollywood yesterday.

They had reps showing off the game and answering questions about it in the theater lobby.

So I asked this very question: "How much is it going to cost to play the game"

They said the game will be free.
However there is going to be an advanced version of the game with more features, etc that has not been determined yet.
If you choose to upgrade from the free version,
Its going to cost $9.95 a month U.S. currency.
Doesnt sound to bad in all if you ask me, XBox live and ToonTown costs the same.

Hope this information helps.
It came directly from the PiratesOnline Reps.

This is all answered on the site... -_- I already know this. Does anybody read the first post?

I'm just opening a subject for when we can select either game version.

Ok, here goes:

The essential game is free to play. You can visit a couple, but not all of the islands, and your character customization is limited. I'm also pretty sure that there are certain actions you cannot perform and that you have to go with the pre-selected name feature like in TT. This version of the game is also ad-supported. Since you can play this version for as long as you want, think of it as an extented TT free trial.

The advanced game is $9.95 a month. You can access all character customization and type your own name. You can visit all of the islands and do everything. I'm sure they will have the same kind of payment options as TT where you get money off for buying more time. And I'm not sure here-but it would be THE SWEETEST TOTALLY MOST ROCKINGLY AWESOME SUPERCALAFRAGALICIOUSEXPEALADOCIOUS thing if- if you already have a paid TT account, you can play both Pirates Online and TT and only pay once.

I did. I was elaborating on yours for people who may not have understood.

Soufriere_hills 03-20-2007 09:07 PM

oh ok i really need a beta key

Captain 03-20-2007 09:32 PM

:Oh just you huh?

HaveAMagicalDay 03-20-2007 10:23 PM

I think when it officially opens when you sign in each time it will ask you if you wish to pay. If you start to pay each month, then it wont come up asking to pay (until end of month maybe). If you decide not to pay for a while, and later on you decide to i think when you start playing you will be able to pay and continue your adventures. Arg!

There is no exact date. But as of right now, if you got to piratesonline.com it says "Coming Spring 2007" so not before summer. Not that long of a wait once you think about it.

Garfieldo 03-25-2007 01:06 AM

Darn, I'm already paying for Toontown. Oh, well...

It's very unlikely that they will not have you pay for both but don't give your hopes up :)

What features does it take off if you don't pay? I thought there were just alot of ads.

______

This is seperate from toontown games. It's an online game, an MMO, just comic-ish style (much different than the rest, boy is it)... it isn't part of toon town. Disney is not going to say "oh, you pay for toon town, hey! you'll get the free upgrade for POTC paid version!" That's not how online games, nor MMO's work. That's why SONY has what's called the Station Pass (mulitple game access).

It's all the same game, they didn't develop two seperate games for this... Pay or not...

"The free access option, known as Basic Access, will allow players to experience a lot of the gameplay and features. Ads will be present in Basic Access sessions, to allow advertising partners to associate with the brand. But for a monthly fee of just US$ 9.95 for the Unlimited Access, players will gain access to the full feature set and customizations of the game, including some features limited in Basic Access.
Unlimited Access, on the other hand, has much more exclusive features thrown in. If you subscribe to the option for US$ 9.95 (that's a per-month fee), the full game will be open to you, without any ads at all. Community interaction will also be supported on this mode, as well as the whole range of customization." -mmorpg.com (the basic access is going to have ads galore, btw)

pirate_catt 03-26-2007 11:33 PM

they might make it kind of like gopets (if anyone knows what im talking about), where you pay to get special monthly items and a few more $$, sort of deal possibly, but its just a hunch

HaveAMagicalDay 03-27-2007 12:31 AM
