Random thoughts on the update

1. nice changes to the rusty cutlass XD
2. Why the voodoo doll downsize?
3. the sound effects rule, lol
4. I pretty sure basics can't use the bayonet, but are there muskets we can use? If someone basic has one, let me know, the same for broadswords.
5. one of these days, I going to have to sit down at a card table and do some serious cheating.
6. what's with the strange flags hanging in the forts?
7. love my sabre!

Jeremiah Gungrim 04-17-2010 04:53 AM

My thoughts:

1. Finally a reason to play again.
2. I love muskets
3. Makes you more vicious when fighting knowing your doing it for good loot
4. GREATEST UPDATE TO THE GAME TO DATE
5. Always cool new weapons to find which makes me happy
6. I can finally put an enemy to death by musket firing squad
7. I love potco again.

Nate Swordwalker 04-17-2010 06:30 AM

Muuskets, bayonets are long range and good for standing on the bridge for an invasion and popping people off like a sharpshooter.

Broadswords, and the Swordman's Sabre are good for multiple enemies...

AWESOME new staffs.

AWESOME new dolls and healing powers.

Nate

Buck Seahawk 04-17-2010 02:14 PM

On Test I have a broadsword and a musket and a blunderbuss. I've seen basics running around with bayonets though, so I don't know if they made it so broadswords and other weapons are now not for basics or something, but they were on test.

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-17-2010 02:29 PM

I have a blunderbuss and a sabre on live, but I haven't found crude broadswords or muskets. What is the name of the musket you have? Is it crude?

SteamweaverJ 04-17-2010 03:09 PM

Just a question: When i applied for test it said you had to have a paid account. Does ones test status remain if one goes basic?

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-17-2010 03:51 PM

Apparently it does, yes.

Yes you still have test access, despite what D has stated on their website (that they will cancel your access if you go basic). I had been basic on test and still had been able to log in.

Angel Seafish 04-17-2010 04:17 PM

To many reasons to list why I like this update!!!!!!! :D It made me come back and play and want to level up to use the new weapons!

Buck Seahawk 04-17-2010 05:37 PM

I was on Test and Live today, and I had a Worn Broadsword I used to be able to use on Test, now it says "Common" and I cannot use it. Same with the Old Musket. My sabre and blunderbuss can be used by me still though so I'm happy!

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-17-2010 05:51 PM

Ah. Well that's too bad, but hey, it's life. I guess that means I've found pretty much every weapon there is to find for basics. I'm still coming up with new pieces of clothing though! Gotta love that basics can change clothes. Well, I'm of to pillage and plunder my weasily black guts out.

Sven Osymthe 04-17-2010 06:23 PM

The only problem with basics being able to change clothes, basics not being able to wear their starting clothes. I had a hat, coat, shirt, pants, boots, and a belt on for my basic account. After this update, that character only has pants, boots and a belt. Why can't Disney learn that we made the characters the way we wanted them.. and just leave them alone? A lot of people don't like their starter outfits, but the bottom line is THEY chose them.

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-17-2010 06:37 PM

I kept all my starter clothes. Yep, the classic Will Mcbain look is alive and well. Because it was all crude, lol.

Sven Osymthe 04-17-2010 07:08 PM

Yep, you keep the items, but unless they are crude they don't show on your pirate.

Rannulf 04-17-2010 07:22 PM

I have a basic account, and that pirate just had the shorts. It took me three hours to find him some cloths! That was such fun! Oh well.

Kraken Guard 04-17-2010 09:28 PM

Just a question..

Find any Jolly Roger doll's? ^_^

Dockwrecker The Privateer 04-18-2010 01:59 PM

This is just the topic I was thinking of making Will lol! From the basic viewpoint,
1.I can change clothes! ++
2.I can't wear starter clothes. -
3.The Sabre is very nice +
4.The Blunderbuss is great +
5.Basics now have something more to do:Hunt +
6.No Boadswords or Muskets that I know of for basic - (Ye read me mind Will :D )
7.Cuple Doll for basic +
8.Basic can wear small bandanas +
9.Basic can't wear quest clothes like Clothes Fit For a Pirate -
10.The invasion messages are cool now :p +
11.Basic now cannot buy Miracle Water -
12.land cannons seem to be on their way +
13. Is there any sign Raven Cove will actually make an appearence in the game?Someone should ask a GM to describe the island.

For the most part I must agree with Will and Sven, starter clothes should have stayed,is there anyone basic with a coat by any chance?

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-18-2010 05:42 PM

Brilliant minds think alike! I pretty much agree with everything you said, but what's a cuple doll?
Yes, I like the new wood look that invasion messages and everything else has. I believe Raven Cove will eventually be in the game, idk how.
I'm hoping to find a crude coat, but we'll see :)

MacIronhawk 04-18-2010 05:56 PM

If we see Ravens Cove in the game, I wonder if they'll decided to show us the aftermath of the battle, or what.

Favorite part about this update is giving us all these new weapons to look for. Now weapon grinding doesn't feel like weapon grinding. It feels more like treasure hunting.

I totally agree with ya Mac.. I have had my mastered pirate out more the last few days and have seen SO MANY other mastered pirates out and about. At one point there were 3 of us attacking Remmington at one time (he didn't stand a chance he he)

I'm really enjoying this update - IMHO it is the best one since I started playing in 2008.:Pirate3:

Kraken Guard 04-18-2010 08:30 PM

Wait, what do you mean by 'Cant wear starter clothes'?

Only certain clothing is available to basic members, as is the case with weapons. If it's not crude, they can't wear it. Disney constantly changes the clothing available to create your pirate in, which is one of the reasons. Some clothing that people may have had, that is no longer available in the creation screen has been changed to "common". Because of this, basic members can't wear it. So, basic members can't wear some of their starting clothes, depending on what they had when they began.

Captain 04-18-2010 10:59 PM

This update sounds awesome! I haven't logged into POTCO in forever. Looks like the time is now!

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-19-2010 04:21 PM

Another thought. What about sea charms? I can't find any. Has anyone?

Tuefenhandel 04-19-2010 08:00 PM

The blunderbuss has made the entire update (and waiting for it to "pass" through test) worthwhile. Having a shot gun that can take down a thrall with a single blast is the sweetest of revenge.

Very interested to see where the sea drops happen - has anyone started a thread so that we can post where we find these?

Not real thrilled with the whole Blunderbuss thing. On one hand it is very cool to take down high level enemies with a single blast. :dancetl6: On the other hand, I HATE it when someone does it while I am using that particular enemy to level up on.:erti101:

It has created a whole category for the redistribution of notoriety points.

angel 4ever 04-20-2010 12:04 AM

i love the new stuff i love the loot its so awesome!! makes me want to level up on ever thing more haha fun and new clothes and gums and swords and dolls so much awesome stuff so cool haha :D

Nope.. Not I ( at least not yet ;) )

Captain 04-20-2010 12:48 AM

I love this update! It feels like I'm playing an entirely different game. The item drops are fantastic, especially when you get a rare, Unlimited-Only item. Talk about incentives to join!

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-20-2010 08:53 PM

Aye! It is a great update, and the first thing in a while to make me sorta wish I was unlimited. It's amazing to see how many people are coming back to the game after having stopped playing. "It's just good buisiness".

Captain 04-20-2010 11:08 PM

It's extremely good business! Haha, I've never seen the place busier.

Chris Ironhawk 04-20-2010 11:55 PM

I have one BIG thought:

EVERYTIME I TRY TO FIGHT A BOSS, WHETHER IT BE SAMUEL OR GEOFERY PAIN, I GET DISCONNECTED!!!!!:erti101::sadmh9::zu02zq:

You should report the bug, I'm sure Disney would like to know. If it's a crash rather then a disco be sure to include the crash log, just use the automated form.

Angel Seafish 04-21-2010 02:39 PM

My thoughts:
Leveling up became FUN!!!! (Got three levels since update!)
All the weapons are awesome!
Blunderbuss takes FOREVER to reload but makes up for it with the high damage.
New staffs are INCREDIBLE.
Now Darkheart is a new guild target lol

I could go on forever but this is all I could think of right now.

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-21-2010 03:09 PM

No, that's good! LOL This thread is for random thoughts ;)

Nate Swordwalker 04-21-2010 04:34 PM

Tip for Blunderbuss - when it starts reloading, count to 2 ( at a kind of fast pace ) and then press escape, then control and it will be reloaded. Not always the case, for sometimes you count wrong or wait too long.

I went from 37 to 39 and a half in 3 days.... should be making 40 sometime this week.

Nate

I found one. I got if from sinking a high levle flagship a Colossus I think or maybe one of the high level haunted ships. It was a sea chart that is supposed to decrease your full sail recharge time, and add to your come about abilities.

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-26-2010 03:17 PM

You know what? sice the update I have gotten dozens of cards, but not a single spade card.

Dog Firestack 04-26-2010 09:34 PM

William I got 1 spade card after all of my 3,000 kills over weekend. Also where's my lost sword after 3,000 Darkhart kills...???

Bubba Bunny x 04-26-2010 09:49 PM

My thoughts:
Oh noes...! Where did the clothes go for my basic acount????
And
:O My favorite jacket makes me pirate look like she has a crooked back!
But....
Awesome updates!!!! :D

Robin Yerloot 04-27-2010 12:41 AM

I love the new updates, espically when I'm getting into weapons, I really love the loot pouches (gives Robin a reason not to steal... as much). Although, I wonder when the site will update the weapon list on the Pirate Detials, I believe, all the weapons are now different. I'm quite confused at the moment, haha.

The Evil Will Mcbain 04-27-2010 03:05 PM

William, lol, just Will please, not so formal XD
Yeah, you guys have fiery swords, and ghost swords and big guns, but beat this! I got a light sabre! Yeeeeeehaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmm, spades must just be really rare then, lol

OpheliaHurt 05-17-2010 06:44 AM

I went basic now im on paid account again and cant put on any of the clothes i have or buy! WTH?! same with any peircings tattoos and what not the only thing i can buy and use is weapons nothing else.

Luckie OClover 05-17-2010 09:09 AM

I think the weapons belt stinks
I liked being able to use any weapon when I wanted, with my F whatever keys.
Having to equip your belt frequently with 4 slots is a pain.

Just my opinion.

Basil Dreadflint 05-17-2010 03:14 PM

"Potion making" is tedious and boring!
The "Ship repair" is just as bad!
Both of these turns the game into a more "SOLO" experience. Most of the last 8 or so updates have been designed to bring the pirates together to make them work as teams, now these updates are strictly solo.

The limited amount of high level drops, and the lack of co-ordination of the drops, has done nothing but irritate people.
I know some people who have gotten 3 or even 4 El Patron swords on the same pirate, have 12 or more different Relic weapons, and other people who can't seem to get a single Relic or Famous weapon drop at all.

The clothing changes have not been all that great. When you bought clothes, you could match up your wardrobe and choose the colors you wanted. Three shirts and 2 pair of pants made 6 different outfits. With the drops, you can't choose colors anymore, and the clothing has become nothing but a mismatch of hodgepodge items.

I sold 11 items before I had an empty space to pick up dropped items. That means that my total clothing inventory went DOWN by 10 items thanks to the update.

It seems that Disney has been throwing in everything including the kitchen sink. Friday night there was the new "Mini-games", an invasion on PR, and an EITC fleet, all happening AT ONCE! I have never seen an invasion and a fleet at the same time before.

I also would think that defeating Jolly Roger during an invasion would yield a drop. Not a single drop during an invasion. Bummer. It would be interesting to have to decide whether to run and pick up the loot, risking dying, while fighting an invasion.

Just some random thiughts!

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-17-2010 03:49 PM

ok, here are my thoughts on this next update. I like most of the potions themselves, and I kind of like the potion game, it can get interesting. Ship repair is so-so, it's nice to have anyway. I like the new loading screen look! Going back to what Basil said, I can completely understand why people would be upset over losing clothes. I would be too. I like the fleet during an invasion thing. It makes it much more challenging.

Tuefenhandel 05-17-2010 05:28 PM

I'm slowly coming around to the potions. I am NOT all that adept at the potion making game, so it's been a grind.

However, I used the level II potion that increases damage from firearms just as JR was landing at PR. then, using a Famed Relic Musket with level 5 silver shot I was able to do over 10K in damage per round. For the first time, I could actually see his HP meter drop when I hit him.

That was enough to convince me that the potions are going to be a huge benefit.

Has anyone tried any of the other potions in these scenarios?

I was wondering what happened to my F keys! what a pain now! im sure ill figure it out, as for now im gonna have to go live chat to see what the hell is going on with my clothes!:mybadki6:

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-17-2010 06:27 PM

I love the speed potion, it's really cool.

J.T. 05-18-2010 02:19 AM

I haven't seen all of the new things in the game, then again i'm basic at the moment.

But the new weapons are great so far, the potion making isn't the best but many of the potions are great, and fun.

The ship repairs are good, ecspecially for privateering, but I don't like how sometimes it gets glitched up to where you can't finish a certain repair mini-game so you have to wait until your sunk or you port to repair again.

seafox 05-18-2010 05:33 AM

...anyone else encounter the potion glitches yet...lol ..I know why tables are still full now...;)
