Should the Jungle areas be redone like the caves were or not?

Title asks it all.

Crestshot 04-05-2010 04:02 AM

I like the jungles the way they are now. They're wide and open and fun to level in, and I'm afraid if they redid them, they would add a tree every two feet. I know that the same design is used on certain jungles, but there's always that little tweak, like comparing Rat's Nest to Isla Perdida's Jungle. If they are to add new islands with new jungles however, they should add a different design, otherwise it's not a new island, it's just the same thing somewhere else on the map.

Johnny Storm 04-05-2010 04:25 AM

It would be nice for them to re make the jungle areas, just not too much, they do need to look more realistic like the new caves do.

The Skirata Clan 04-05-2010 05:30 AM

Why not? They were redoing everything why stop.

J.T. 05-10-2010 02:11 AM

I like the way the forests look, besides that several of them look the same.

seafox 05-10-2010 02:46 AM

...I like the forests themselves...I think the enemies could be re-thought...bosses a little more 'boss-like' and subsequent loot improved...and there are treasure circles I have never found uses/quests for...so more quests tied in to those areas...these ares are underused...but never, never, mess with Scary Mary...shes classic...:)

Bubba Bunny x 05-10-2010 04:17 AM

It would be nice for the jungles to be redone although theres nothing really wrong with them. There could be a few changes here and there, for example; how a river flows thru some jungles, it could be more detailed like some rocks or cattails. I agree with tsc, why stop at the jungles? They should be redone too :D

Kat Five Knives 05-10-2010 04:27 AM

I like the jungles the way they are now, but I do hope that if they make new areas that they will not use the same old landscape over again. I would like for anything new to be exactly that -- fresh, new, unexpected.

Midhav 05-10-2010 11:52 AM

ALL the forests look the same! It would be nice if only one looked like this, but that is not the case... Therefore, they must re-do the jungles and beautify them like they did for the caves.

The forests must be much bigger with trees ALL around, not just on the corners. There should be more interactivity (actual features, like cutting trees, crossing river by boat) unlike the caves, which do not have much interactivity.

Personally I would LOVE to see how the new Rat's Nest and new Queen's Nest would look. More expanded burning village for the former, more cocoon and wasp-like for the latter.

Just that I would like them to re-implement smoke graphics, which would make Rat's Nest look cool.
All-in-all, re-do forests (and Cuba) !!!!!

Dog Firestack 05-10-2010 11:57 AM

I love the idea to make NEW forests. remake everything and quit making everything look PLASTIC. They need a more realistic feel like the caves have now., They want that mysterious eerie fog or something with it!

seafox 05-10-2010 06:13 PM

....just watched a classic movie...with rope bridges that swaaayyyyy....that'd be cool and fog rising from a waterfall....and spiders...yeah...whats with scorpions...lets kill spiders or snakes..:)

The Evil Will Mcbain 05-10-2010 07:11 PM

I think the jungles are pretty good now, the only thing is that there are only three designs. I would like more variation, but the styles are good.

toanuju22 05-10-2010 08:17 PM

Yes I would like all the Jungles, Forests, Woodlands to be redone, not too much,
but as a minimum, I would like Shorter Trees.

Not exactly saying I liked the caves more. Because the caves are a little cramped, and you have to go a certain way, or you can't find certain enemies for an hour (mostly speaking for little kids). But the Jungles need to look rather different. It was fine back when Pirates first started, but they have shown they can create new caves, and I personally think that making a few jungle areas would be a simple bout.

Sven Osymthe 05-11-2010 01:21 AM

I said "Yes (other)". I don't really care about them making new jungles (I didn't care too much for how they ruined or fixed some caves). The only way I would like the new jungles, if they didn't feel too crowded and kept some originality.

MacIronhawk 05-11-2010 02:48 AM

I personally, think they should redo some of the forests areas so they're more forest like.

I'd like to see HUNDREDs of trees, with flowing rivers, jungle birds flying overy our head, rivers, trees you can climb, traps you can fall in, etc...

The lot is what I want. Or if they don't want to redo the forests, I'd like to see them at least make the new islands have extremely cool looking forests.

Midhav 05-11-2010 09:38 AM

I want everything of what Mac said. I want them to redo the forests, and in new islands I also want them to add new forests with new classes of enemies with new bodies, weapons, levels and powers. Also these enemies should have new loot drops. And if they release Random Collectible Objects and Trading, rare objects should be found with these enemies. Also, around these new islands, say if its an undead island, a feature should be there that to protect the island, an undead warship will be summoned to attack the pirate, or a least that the skeletons will board the ship before the ship lands.

Dog Firestack 05-11-2010 11:32 AM

There should be traps in the jungles where there's spears flying over head, and vines trying to trip you causing damage. That is a TRUE pirate adventure!

Basil Dreadflint 05-11-2010 06:47 PM

They don't need redone. The developers should have only ONE THING to be working on, the next story chapter!

James Bladefury 05-11-2010 07:52 PM

Definately, I would love to have new places to explore! But Basil does make a point... next story chapter or big things first like ship customization!!

Midhav 05-12-2010 10:36 AM

Exactly. New islands will definitely have to come as a part of the next story chapter, but something like a redoing can wait till after the chapter, because they wouldn't have new content.
Cuba's redoing is an exception however.

Kind of obvious that after two years they don't really care, so there's always the alternative.

Midhav 05-13-2010 04:38 PM

But Mac, one thing is that a section of the players have complained how they hate redesigning. Do you think Devs would prefer to listen to them? One thing is, that if they are going to redesign forests, they should add "new features"... like what we just suggested. Random physics would also be appreciated... Something like flowing with the stream, falling down the waterfall, climbing up the tree, entering tree undergrowth (in one place like Minertown, they can put an abandoned mining area underneath the forest, entry through tree undergrowth), ravines with bridges, more tree based enemies (that is, for new island forests) and the other hundred things we could suggest.

:av25455_1:I agree, Cuba needs work. I voted no because why bother changing old stuff give me new islands to explore with better jungles and new experiences.

The "Caves" are now tunnels in the ground. Like an anthill.

I like your thinking!!! Stumps could now have the power to shoot roots! Ravines to hide in! Little barricades that slow enemy progress towards you! So many things! Little gold nougats that you could dig up. Trees that you can make into forts. (That would be fun.) Perhaps new pirate lairs! Personally I'd like some open trade. Maybe even start your own smuggling town. After all, buccaneers were originally illegal settlers on Spanish islands. You never know.

CarribeanThunder 05-20-2010 10:09 PM

To be honest, I would have chosen these if this Poll were Multiple Choice:

Yes, I want to see what it would look like.
No, they look fine the way they were.
No, but on any new islands I think they should be different so there's variety.
Yes(other)
No(other)

"Yes, I want..." because the jungles do seem a little plain to me, but I do like them very much.
"No, they look fine...." because, well, I like them very much.
"No, but on any new...." because it would kind of make sense.
"Yes(other)" would be "Yes, because they are the same in most areas.
"No(other)" because I still like these old designs - and I kind of wish they hadn't changed the caves...
