Anyone else think Disney most likely reads the ideas here on POF?

I would think so, with the new release of this EITC fleet.

Does anyone remember the thread in the ideas section where talk about fleets being in the came up? And tada, there's an EITC fleet on the test server.

Does anyone agree this most likely means Disney does read our ideas about the game?

Cannonfury 02-19-2010 02:55 AM

Yes they do. They also read the glitches that are posted, which is why they get fixed quicker.

Captain Del 02-19-2010 02:56 AM

A Disney dev did say in an interview a while back that they do occasionally read over what we pirates think, so yes. As for frequency? Meh, it would be nice to say they read up every day, but thats HIGHLY unlikely. So, I'd guess every once in a while.

Kat Five Knives 02-19-2010 03:07 AM

Since this game is their livelihood and we are the voice of the players, either directly or indirectly, I would say they are being unprofessional if they didn't check this site regularly. Imagine that you spend most of your waking hours working on a game that others play. Wouldn't you want to know what people are saying about your work???? Wouldn't you want some free advice as to how you could improve your work and make your customers happy?

I have programming experience and I know better than most how frustrating this career is. I know how time consuming something can be when you look at it and think to yourself... this will only take a minute to fix... and you end up working on it all day.

I think they do look. I also understand why they are so slow to respond. What I don't understand is why they change things that are not broken

I would hope so. How else would they really know what the game needs?

Admiral Finch 02-19-2010 08:59 PM

Yes they do. And to be honest. Most games do read forums based on their games for feedback. I have seen it on quite a few forums.

Jeanne Stormcutter 02-20-2010 08:15 PM

I don't think so, i'm sure they have better things to do than read forums

Angel Seafish 02-20-2010 09:28 PM

If they don't, they should.
If they do, hopefully often.

Captain Whale 02-21-2010 02:40 AM

Well I would hate to spend several months working on a new part of the game. Then get all excited to roll it out. Then come here and see everyone tearing it to pieces or complaining that it's not what was wanted. I am sure it gets downright discouraging seeing "Disney Fails" time and time again.

Don't get me wrong there are some good ideas and constructive critisism here. Just something to think about next time they roll out something new.

I think the fleets give a new, fresh feel to the game. No complaints here. Although I enjoy storyline, I really like just hanging out with friends. My guild goes on searches for rare bosses to overwhelm with sheer numbers. :newsmi4:

piratepeople9 02-21-2010 05:35 AM

You forgot to mention the idea of dumping unwanted cargo.
Check here:
http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ad.php?t=13592

Except they just automatically assume that we don't want the lesser cargo and dump it.

What about the guild requests being blocked?
Wasn't that idea posted here?
http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ad.php?t=10660

What about booting other "pirates" from your ship.
So far we've only seen it in SvS.

We wanted the kraken.
It seems like in a way, we got it.
They did create Call of the Kraken right?
Perhaps, they'll eventually add it into the game, if so, not anytime soon.

More clothes and tattoos?
Is that considered the Holiday "Outfits and Tattoos" by Disney?

The Fleets?
That might not be as "great" as everyone thinks.
But it all depends on opinion.

It seems like they don't give us exactly what we want.
But they do give it to us, in a way.

Some of the "bigger" ideas may never get onto test, if they do, it would probably be on Dec. 21, 2012. The end of the world caused by Disney giving us brand new content that we've been wanting for years. Hurray.

A little off topic, but I made my point.
And to answer your question, yes, they probably do read the forums.

JM Ohara 02-21-2010 05:41 AM

If there is one thing I know D is all about business. It's simply good business to know what people say about your product. Do they read the forums? You bet your eyepatch they do. Will we ever be able to prove it? No.

wmah 02-21-2010 06:20 AM

If they really listen to us, why can I still walk through others. It is still not right to me. It makes attuning others harder without being able to bump an attune them on the fly. And still hitting the cloth sails on ships shouldn't take down a masts.

Not gonna lie, that made me laugh out loud. I always knew Disney would be in on it somehow...:zn3lso:

Back to topic, I have to say that, were it me in the position of the POTCO crew, I would want to know what was being said about the game outside of the actual bug reports and website feedback. Granted there are probably many more people involved in the creation and maintaining of the game than I think there are, but I would think curiosity would HAVE to get the best of them at some point? Even if they don't take anything we say seriously, at least they would know some sort of feedback...

(But then again I'm the type of person that if I became famous, I would Google myself every day to see what was being said about me. LOL.)

I remember when you could shoot Firebrand at a ship, and there would be fire in the spot where the Firebrand shot lands. I remember when there were seperate Hull Panels instead of just 3 whole Panels. I remember when any ammo we used on sails would go through the sails like nothing - you would see 2 or 3 thunderbolts depending on how you aimed it. This was all I missed ( And the Sailing Timer ).

Back On Topic: I do think Disney reads what we post on the forum, although I don't think they care about the very minor stuff.

Midhav 02-21-2010 11:10 AM

i think that they'll be watching this thread as well, so i think it's good u highlighted ur feedback on the game, CaribbeanThunder and wmah. And Thunder, you be right by saying that we need to highlight our feedback loudly, so i feel we should have a thread on feedback on removal of certain game features.

i also think that the mods should checkout the Ip adresses to find out if they are reading the Forums.

I think Disney reads a lot of the posts. I also believe they eventually addresses feedback that is sent.I know i have sent a lot of feedback and after awhile things change.

Theres an old saying,"You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all the people all of the time"

2Cool 09-25-2010 05:10 AM

Did anyone ask D if they read the forums?

Tiberius Fireskull 09-25-2010 05:19 AM

Aye, Disney does read the forums. As many of you said, they would want to know what people think of their work, and they could improve it. They would be fools to not read this site. A lot of our ideas have become realities in game. Just look through it, tons of stuff.

Chimera Doll 09-25-2010 06:09 AM

I believe they do - maybe not all of the posts, but I think they look for threads that are based on what players want in the game.

ruisen2000 09-25-2010 06:27 AM

If they did read the forums, it would explain why some of the glitches told on the forums were fixed so quickly...

Ofury/ Tom 09-25-2010 05:00 PM

I'm sure they listen to what players have to say BUT and a huge BUT! all i ever see here is people bashing down Disney saying they aren't fast enough or their game isn't good enough for them if i worked for Disney i wouldn't look here too many people just saying they are bad.

Not meaning to bash anyone but take a look around this site and you will see what i mean

ruisen2000 09-26-2010 08:10 AM

Disney needs more workers is all I can say...
They make everything so slow..
no kraken, no flying dutch yet, no singapore, no native island...
they still got a lotta work to do.

Midhav 09-29-2010 08:48 AM

Aye they have to expand MUCH into the Caribbean, most likely introducing even REAL islands into the sea. They could have all the real islands will actual placing (such as Port Royal being connected to mainland Jamaica, but Jamaica not being accessible) and they could also put islands from the prequels, comic books, etc.

Some of the main islands too could be expanded. Like Port Royal on how it looks like in Armada of the Damned, or sourcing from some other information databases that give the layout of PR in the PotC series (I heard that the Governor's Mansion was located in a certain St.Anthony's district or something), and make all these islands feel absolutely real.

After the Caribbean, they should expand into other seas like the Mediterranean and the South East China Sea (where we can face factions like the Army of Shadows, Libertalia, Barbary Corsairs, Ottoman Empire and Sao Feng's pirates). These seas should be accessed by teleportation, for which totem can be achieved at a certain lvl (60 or 70, I'm looking far into the future)

But all of this can ONLY happen if they get loads of more developers, which should happen.

Delirious 09-30-2010 03:54 AM

I am sure they do read what is posted on the forums... Who wouldn't? It is great information to them as to what we want or what they need to improve to keep money flowing to them.

As said above that why would they due to seeing a lot of ppl bashing the game etc... I am pretty new to the forums and I really have yet to read anyone bashing the game. It seems as though most people on here are people that have played POTC for quite sometime now and will continue to play.
