When is the Next BIG Update???

Its already the 10th of Feb, and since the minor update of Padres del Fuego invasions there has been nothing on test that is as big as the Cave updates. The POTCO team also hasn't yet announced a new Developer's Diary to announce the upcoming updates. We'd either have to wait for tomorrow - Thursday, or the 20th of this month.
Anyway my guess is that the next update is probably New weapons with a new loot and inventory system...
Can y'all give yer suggestions about when the next update will be coming? Or rather when you think it is coming.

Cannonfury 02-10-2010 02:13 PM

I think potco is a sinking ship, enjoy it will you can because it will not be around much longer

Potco is not and will never be the game phenomenon that Disney wants it to be. It's not even a game people would admit to playing.

Maybe 1 of my friends know that I play potco but the rest and family will never know! Way too embarrassing >.>

(I also know a few other people in game who feel the same way about not ever letting family or friends know they play.)

bartholomew bladeroberts 02-10-2010 02:40 PM

I strongly disagree potco while losing customers fast is not neccessarily a sinking ship I know it has a lot of issues but it could be worse we could randomly walk through walls but we can't if it is as bad a you portray it to be we would

Captain Whale 02-10-2010 05:00 PM

LOL - crack me up.

I have my unlimited flag hanging in my cube at work. I have already met two other people who play pirates here not to mention those who play other games.

You are embarrassed to admit you play, yet you still play, so the game must have some fun/redeeming qualities for you or you would not even bother.

I know a few people in the game too who are proud to play POTCO and tell people they do. O_O

I just love how people "Know" how many people are joining or leaving the game. Not based upon fact of course but based upon thier own personal opinion and experience.

I agree Bart - All games have issues and POTCO is really a well run game overall.

As to the actual topic of this thread since nobody wants to answer that. I think we will see something new by the end of march. Based upon how long they have been letting each Invasion run before moving to the next one.

Captain Whale

Capt C Ray 02-10-2010 05:06 PM

Bartholomew, I am in complete agreement with you. POTCO is not a sinking ship. It is still alot of fun to play and I am not embarrassed in the least to admit I play the game. There are still a lot of pirates out there that enjoy the game.

Roger, wish I knew when the next set of updates were going to hit test. I play on test almost every morning and everytime I log in, I hope for the screen goes into update mode. But when it doesn't, I just keep on going. I am sure the developers are working hard on the next set of updates and they just might be take extra time on their side to insure the fewest number of glitches possible possible before release to test.

Midhav 02-10-2010 05:14 PM

sheesh why was everyone going off topic? anyway thanks whale, but i disagree. They will do it most probably by 20th of this month, tomorrow might not be possible with invasions and keg runners entering its middle/starting stages respectively. 20th will be the day we would probably see new weapons/ new loot and inventory system ( the inventory system is what i so badly wany, with trading and gold cap increase coming with it ). I just can't wait for that day to come mates. Or i'll just come tomorrow evening on the forums and check if there are any new release notes :)
Anyway on what Maria/Kris said : I believe potco might have lost a quantity of players but we are still there and the many other unheard voices and kids who play the game and keep it alive. The updates might be slow but i can expect them soon, even if they were to finish completely releasing only by may 20 2011. POTCO doesnt have good ratings from reviewers, and personally i dont like much of its non-realism ( islands, functioning of ships, etc ), but i like the game much. Well they know y'all adults are there, but i think they concentrate alot on kids in America. Keeping that in mind, we should note invasions were made for us loyalists and restarted recently for the kids who will rush in after POTCO's ads.
That be my view mates, of the game and such.
This be my view mates

Aye informative C Ray. The Glitches i know will be removed with the new updates. And hopefully all bugs shall. Basically i want them to decrease the lag so i can play on my graphic card-less comp smoothly rather than my dad's VAIO. They must remove the Memory leak i have heard of.
Btw C Ray, aren't ye a member of the ETC, not ESG?

Sven Osymthe 02-10-2010 05:48 PM

I still think that the updates will come around the 17th of next month. Last year they were talking about something (that we assumed to be the Kraken) would be released on that date. But something probably went wrong, and they just pushed it off to this year at that time. That is just my guess, but since nothing big has been confirmed, I don't think it will be by the end of this month.

I am certainly not embarrassed to play POTCO hehe!! I have me constant reminder :laughks2:

I'm certain we will have new content pretty soon, but I wonder whether Shamus O'Malley will make an appearance again this year first.

Jeanne Stormcutter 02-10-2010 07:59 PM

I can't help but smile every time i see that, I'm guessing you are a fan Polly...? :laughks2:

william kid 02-10-2010 08:33 PM

Roger I'm posting this first so I stay on topic-I hope they add something soon but with nothing on test guessing next month at the earliest

OK now why I decided to post ----WOW A TAT!!!! I have sold all my worldly goods to pay to play, I attend PPA (a pirate addict support group) and taught my dog Scurvy to bark the tune to "A Pirates Life for ME" but your hard core! LOL very cool

Captain Whale 02-10-2010 09:07 PM

/bows to Pretty Polly in the dedication department!! O_O

/salute!!!

I agree William but time will tell. Depending on what they are addiing it may not come to test. P)

Cannonfury 02-10-2010 11:27 PM

Oh I do enjoy playing I just won't admit to real life friends/family that I play..

telling them I play potco would be like a 35 year old man saying "I love to watch the Baby Sitters club(tv series from the early 90's)" 0_o

MacIronhawk 02-11-2010 01:47 AM

I haven't played POTCO since christmas, and I'm glad, because I'd get really bored if I were still playing right now.

All I can say is, if you've played the game since day one, or even beta, waiting until the next big update, and even a week or so after it comes out might be better. I don't want to rush through the game like I did and then wait a year before something cool comes out.

Captain Whale 02-11-2010 01:52 PM

Well said MacIronhawk we all are looking for something different in the game.

So, Cannonfury is it just pirates that embaresses you or is it playing any computer game?

For the record I am older than 35 and I have no idea what that show is. There are many adults who play POTCO as well as many other online/console games. Adults are the ones pouring the money into these games for the most part. So I would give that some thought. I certainly don't consider POTCO a babies game.

Captain Whale

Nelly Darkpaine 02-11-2010 03:59 PM

I play several MMOs - played WoW for some time, didn't like the people - WHICH IMO, is POTC's MAIN merit, and honestly, my ONLY reason for playing right now. Otherwise, compared to the newer game Ive been playing is TOTALLY boring. Returned last night for the Valentines quest and realized how badly designed and repetitive the quest system really is.

I play, and love my avatar, and my friends are incredible. (Adult player here, with Thomas, whos also an adult - obviously! LOL) But, since we started a new MMO where there are MANY pirates moving to - I see why D is losing customers - huge maps, WAY more quests, more things to accomplish, more skill involved = less button mashing. Its just a better game - indeed its been around longer, but they have had several expansions, they offer players gifts on toon birthdays - special events - inventory system.

AND we found that the new game is many MANY adults, and many more openly polite players - just standing around at a main city going through inventory netted us several 'unsolicited' weapon and item gifts from higher level players. They come over, and initiate a trade to GIFT you items you can use that are better quality than anything available at your level, or worth more gold to sell. Just to be kind. Guild halls, PVP, great avatars and emotes.

After seeing this, I DO believe D is at risk of Pirates bottoming out if they dont do something soon. We already decided to let our memberships go in April when renewal comes around. =( There is simply NOTHING to do, and the game is filled with childish, rude kids, and unfortunately many childish adults. Sad to say, the GM's several times have 'quashed' the Kracken in game, saying it doesnt, and wont exist and it was simply a rumor.

I think a new quest will come - run to X, go to Y, come back to X, go back to Y, go to Z go back to X, kill 8 crabs, kill 8 scorpions, kill 8 navy, sink 8 ships, go back to X, get points or item you can't fit into inventory anyways, or money you have nothing to spend on. YAWN. No thanks D.

william kid 02-11-2010 04:20 PM

What game are you talking about Nelly? Is it a pirate game?

Eliza Creststeel 02-11-2010 04:47 PM

Okay.. if the game IS a sinking ship - the why did Disney just spend a TON of money on the TV campaign?

TV commericals on several cable stations almost daily AIN'T CHEAP.

I think they still trying to figure out a direction. The question I have is - how much material from the films do they have access and rights to for adding more? Remember Disney wanted to change the name of the ship in the ride to The Black Pearl and Bruckheimer had an issue with that.

Um.... you are an adult and POTCO is a kids game. So ' huge maps, WAY more quests, more things to accomplish, more skill involved = less button mashing' isn't going to work in a game aimed at children ages 10+
I think thats partly what us adults fail to remember. It's a kids game, designed primarily for kids to play.
Personally I am happy with what I get for my money, and coupled with the great range of friends I have made since joining the game, it still gives me a lot of fun.
The game may be filled with childish, rude kids or childish adults but as I said it is a childs game.
You say the GM's have 'quashed' the kraken in game a few times yet Bonnie O'ailey said the following....

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...ay/foscomp.jpg

The rumour it seems is that the kraken will be making an appearance.

Again as I have said before I think they will use Shamus for St Patricks day in March and then hit us with a really big update. Pure speculation, just my ten pence worth. lol

Jamesvsthekraken 02-11-2010 06:15 PM

Finally i hope its not just the "green ocean" like last year! But if the rumors be true i'm pretty sure the kraken would be on test this week or next? :) So us testers or whatever could have like time to test it out. What do you guys think?

Ben Lockshot 02-11-2010 07:06 PM

Captain Walter said "that it be coming soon", like 5 months ago. I think 2 things might be going on. 1 The Kraken was supose to come at sometime Last Summer or something but it Crashed. So they might still by fixing it. Or they are saving it for a serten time. So I do not think there is any way to perdict when it is coming out. Pirates Online crew might not even know.

Captain 02-12-2010 12:42 AM

I have a feeling that we'll see content updates steadily increase as the months go by. When Pirates 4 hits in May 2011, Disney will want this game to be ready for the resurgence in interest in POTC.

Midhav 02-12-2010 11:20 AM

good points there polly, we can expect it.
Thank ye all to replying t my thread, keep the comments coming, and yes we can expect a good update by Feb 20th.
But we're still awaiting a reply from Nelly about that game, and most likely its POTBS.
Well anyway Potco is not a sinking ship and as polly said the Kraken is coming. Whether its June of this year or March, I'd still wait for it. And i believe with the new loot and inventory coming, it won't just be about killing crabs, etc.
Also Captain, you have a good point there.

James Bladefury 02-12-2010 01:49 PM

I think that something big will be updated this march. As we all know there was a hinting of whales and giant squids. Aye? So, since the awesome devs have been working so hard to improve the game, I believe that we will some some expansions in the coming months. It has come to my attention that many pirates have claimed they have "seen" the kraken in the live game after Beta, but have yet no proof of screenshots. Therefore, with this conclusion, as Polly said - Shamus I assume will be used in the coming storyline to help introduce the new storyline of the lore/ new content. By reading your posts this is the conclusion I came to, I may be wrong I will admit that, but from what you guys have said, this is what I think will happen. - James Bladefury

sorry about that. I believe that we will recieve some expansions in the coming months*.

Personally I dont see a problem with the game. Its a fun place to hang out and have a laugh. The maps are incredible but I do agree with you one a few things. There is room for improvment i feel in some areas. Why not put in a system wheree as well as fire on enemy ships you can have boarding actions?

And a few more new islands to explore as well? :piratewheelgo2:

gingeeann 02-12-2010 04:14 PM

New content is on the horizon mate.

Maybe Adult Only Servers or difficulty levels to chose from. Btw I play pixie hollow and pirates and I do not care who knows. If ppl do not accept you for who your are.... they are not worthy of your friendship.

Live each day like it is your last. Do what you love to do even if it playing a kids game and you are 35.

The Evil Will Mcbain 02-12-2010 05:02 PM

What's this other game everyone's talking about?
Personally, I think one of the best things about potco is Basic Access. It's like a never-ending free trial, and while you don't get a lot of stuff, you can still have a lot of fun.
Also having never played any other games like this, I am not cursed with comparing this game to another, savvy?

william kid 02-12-2010 05:43 PM

Well I'm an adult (by age anyways lol) and I have kids of my own who play these games. They are the reason I started playing, was like hmmm that looks like fun. As kids minds seem to wander we have alot of games on the ol PC. Toon Town, Pirates, Wizards 101, Spore, and the one I introduced Guild Wars. They all have good points and bad point or ways I think they would be better but I enjoy all of them. I cant think of one of them that for the most part isnt go here get that and kill this. Pirates is a fun game full of really cool people so Im here for the long haul.

As far as being ashamed of it LOL I work hard day in day out I deserve to play. If thats taking the chevelle to the strip, the jeep to the rocks, fishing, camping, playing potco or sitting down watching a Bugs Bunny marathon on Cartoon network I'll never be ashamed. You dont stop playing because you get old-You get old because you stop playing

joere444 02-12-2010 05:46 PM

I disagree it's not a sinking ship, but the people who have met in the game will say Im sort of a Dale Gribble. Very much thinking outside of the box, and alot of thing seem like conspiracys. I really dont think Disneys ever going to give a new loot or inventory system.(Thats better!) I relly think if they wanted to make it better you'd have to be able to sell items from your inventory, or trade and that wouldn't be good for, "Younger Children."

Angel Seafish 02-13-2010 05:27 PM

I can't say that the game was bad at first, I thought it was absolutely great! But then when you get more into the quests, its just enemy after enemy, ship after ship! Ok I know I say there is nothing to do, but there are sooooo many side quests, its the same thing over and over again!

Wait nominated best MMO?!?! Grats Disney, but how did people not see through its charm that it is the SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN?!?!

I'm not saying its bad, and I'm not saying its good. It's just that there could be better, but its at the verge of dying if there isnt anything new by April. Haven't heard a word from the test peeps.

Can't we have a new feature for a quest? Even that would satisfy me, just a little bit. This game has GREAT potential, but as the days come and go, it gets close to being vmk all over again. Disney has just been lazy in my eyes.

Nelly Darkpaine 02-13-2010 06:22 PM

Heres the thing... Disney is obviously missing that adults ARE a large part of its customer base, and they ARE ignoring that fact. Adults are playing during the day when kids are at school, and at night when kids are asleep. =/

It IS the same thing over and over... and the game has SO little effort put into it re: quests.

I several times have seen GMs say the 'Kracken is a myth' and if you all remember, they promised the Kracken LAST YEAR... this year will likely be the same - promises and promises, but minor revisions or additions. New caves. Oooooo! Its a linear area, no room for random exploration. =/

Im stopping my Unlimited in a few months. Im playing a game with a ONE TIME fee, and no Monthly access that has WAY more things to do. =)

If so many of you hate the game so much, why are you still playing?

CarribeanThunder 02-13-2010 09:36 PM

I myself am a fan of this game. To me, it can still be enjoyable. I am currently working on two other pirates, whose names are Spectra The Specter, and Werner Von Croy ( That should tell you that if you see them, don't act like a total jerk like a certain someone did ( Not mentioning names ) ). I just turned Lv50 last night on William Goldwalker, and I'm hoping to do the same with these pirates..... eventually.

emerald_sage 02-14-2010 12:21 AM

Theres another base there missingout on. What about Fans of pirates of the Caribbean like myself here in europe?

Theve brought toontown and pixie hollow over here why not potco? And hey nelliy if you find a one time fee game let me know will ya?

You can pay around two hundred and fifty dollars to play Star Trek Online forever.

Angel Seafish 02-14-2010 05:31 PM

This game has turned into a pirate simulator. Nelly that is a very good point. They will probably promise us the Kraken again, but I am not sure, because the other day I was at a gm event and asked "When will the Kraken come?". He whispered "Keep you eyes and ears peeled, the Kraken will come very soon" Lets hope hes not lying like last year.

And I'm not sure about this but, I haven't seen many people like level 7 and under. Anyone else notice that?

Yeah, but that doesn't include the first $50 access fee to even be allowed to load the launcher. LOTR online is like this, it used to have a lifetime subscription too. Personally I wouldn't do a lifetime even here on POTCO. I have several IDs and prefer to be able to pick which I want paid at any given time.

As for being embarrassed to play. Not a chance!! Everyone I know knows I not only play AND pay for Pirates, but also that I play in the Hollow. For the record, I'm over 30 with no kids. I play because I love the game, and I love the people. I've met some excellent friends on these games.

On updates. For the record I've heard rumors on all sorts of stuff, new weapons, new clothes, new quests, another not cap raise, gold cap raises, and the infamous Kracken. What will come will come. Would I like to see all of those things? Sure! Also I'd love guild halls, guild flags for your ship, pirate banks or gold repositories for guilds, and new levels of guild membership. I'd like to see many more tattoo and jewelery options. I'd like the ability to drag and drop as many tattoos as you want onto your pirate. Sort of create your own tattoo sleeves or back tattoos. I'd like to see necklaces and bracelets, with the ability for a pirate to wear as much jewelry as we want. Hello, pirate! Historically pirates would have wanted to show off their spoils. What good is plunder if you can't show it off?

The order I'd like to see all this in? First and fore most. A new story chapter. (Personally I couldn't care less if it includes the Kracken or not.) A gold cap raise coming with bigger wardrobe, tattoo and jewelry options, and more pages to hold it all. New weapons quests for when you hit weapons level 25 to go with an all new weapon type at level 40. The guild membership changes, halls, and repositories or at least a way to pass gold between pirates on your id from your login screen.

Will we see all that? I highly doubt any time soon. Some of it if ever. But I'll keep playing. I'll keep the faith.

Nelly Darkpaine 02-15-2010 01:09 AM

Guild Wars - buy the software, and play the game online for good. =) I paid 19.99 for the main 'Guild Wars Prophecies' and once I finish all of this, Ill buy the expansions. But, the thing is, I don't HAVE to if I choose not to, and can continue playing as long as I want with no fee.

See, I play Pirates because it's a franchise that I love. I don't care about the real functionality of the game beyond it being playable, because I just love living and pirating in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean.

[QUOTE=And I'm not sure about this but, I haven't seen many people like level 7 and under. Anyone else notice that?[/QUOTE]

Are you kidding? there are dozens of them running around Tortuga every!

I, just like Captain, play this game because I like the movies.

emerald_sage 02-28-2010 02:42 PM

I play the game cause i LOVE the movies myself and LOVE anything to do with pirates

Nelly Darkpaine 02-28-2010 08:35 PM

I love the theme, love my toon, and have met some great people... but.... when you are level 50, it is NOT WORTH PAYING FOR ANY LONGER. We cant use the 'unlimited features' and Disney literally CONS us into paying to let us keep our pirates appearance and clothing as it is.

New quests? Try same old stuff as usual. This new quest was confirmed MORE OF THE SAME. Kill this, run here, sink that, come back. YAWN.

Disney is who is tanking this game. The quests in Guild Wars never get repetitive... they are unique, and fun. This week, had to raise spirits, recover and replace crystals, kill a HUGE assortment of bosses - with each having a different strategy needed to win - tame new animal companions, fight our own doppelganger - with winning a requirement! What fun.

Do I miss pirates? Not at all. Miss my toon, I love Nelly - but, I also love the ability to customize and build ARMOR and select my own weapon combinations in the new game.

Disney has to do something, or this game will be done quickly. Many people who play GW have been playing for 3+ years - everyone seems to leave POTCO after a year or two. No content. =(

I'm staying loyal to the game, because its fun. I don't know about you guys, but I take advantage of every little thing and expand on it, so I can keep myself occupied. I have great friends, a fantastic guild, and a wonderful game to play in.

New quests? Try same old stuff as usual. This new quest was confirmed MORE OF THE SAME. Kill this, run here, sink that, come back. YAWN.
Sorry to tell you this, but a lot of quests in all MMORPG's are like this. It doesn't depend on the quest, it depends on how you intrepret it. If you see it as "I gotta kill a few of these, go here, dig up this, and then go back," obviously its gonna be boring. But if you see it as how it was intended, like "I need to fight my way through Beckett's Quarry, head to Outcast Isle, dig up a ruby necklace, and head back to Joe Shmoe," then you might actually get excited by it a little more. At least, thats how I see it. Don't take a game as a chore, take it as an adventure.

I give you a simple task - sit on an Ideal server, on Port Royal, and count every low level basic you see. Chances are, if you sit there all day, you'll get anywhere from 25 to 125, maybe more. Then, multiply that by all the other Ideal/Full servers. You should get some number in to high hundreds or thousands. THATS how many new members this game gets every day.

POF is only a small portion of the pirates in POTCO. 1, maybe 2 pirates leave POF each day. And I'm sure theres plenty of other pirates elsewhere that are leaving also. But the point is, this game is growing more than it is shrinking. You have to have a wide spectrum, not a straight view.

An adventure:Such a fantastic word!I hold agreement strongly with Del here on that point, its like the difference between skimming and actually enjoying a book.Even rereading has its upside.

How many of these are 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc pirates of long time players I wonder. Only saying these may or may not signify actual new players. Hard to say, but most of the low level pirates I've talked to have bigger pirates. Also many low levels don't stay in the game for long.

But I agree with your main point that getting in to the story of the game helps make it fun. Unfortunately that is hard to do if you are a high level pirate with few if any challenges left. For example, The Muertas quest was a great adventure for my level 16 pirate, but was just run around, kill, sink and see this or that person for my lvl 47. Pretty boring.

Nelly, the true test for guild wars will be how you feel about it after you have played it as long as you have played pirates, by then it might seem like boring repetition as well.

Now speaking of future updates. I can wait a year until the next update... IF, everything released on POTCO keeps me busy. But without the story quests the game is basically over. Not releasing a story quest at least once a year is... silly. They lose members when there isn't content keeping us busy.

Midhav 03-01-2010 01:37 PM

I think what Del said is very much true. Its how you interpret it. For example, when i did the BP story chapter, all i cared about was winning it and the rewards and the BB. Nothing about the story. I didnt enjoy it. Now, when i did some recent quests, no matter how repetitive it got, i enjoyed it - cuz i listened to the interesting story in it. As for me there's way more to do in POTCO. I have played since June of 08, and my pirate is lvl 35. The other pirates are 1 or more.
I have yet to fully explore most of the area, yet to advance my weapons to full power, yet to get involved in the biggest sea battles ( i have tried i admit ), yet to do most of the quests, all because when i play Pirates, I'm not a hard core gamer who spends hours only caring about ranking up to lvl 50 and being the best by killing hours on enemies. I spend my time chatting true, but I dont want to waste my time ranking like most of you have done, which usually leads to you all leaving the game waiting for the next lvl increase.
Okay what Nelly has said that way is kind of true. The quests are repetitive, but I bet it will become more fun and Runescapey if a new Inventory and Loot system comes, which will completely change the dynamics of quests.
Yes there maybe loads of basic access low lvl new comers, most of whom apparently leave the game. But apart from the leavers and the old timers, there are always new unlimited access ppl i see, that dont have high lvl pirates.... The game has 3 million accounts on it note that. The game has started promoting itself with some of the latest updates. The game was voted for the Best MMO in a category, all because of the Players who pay and play for it...

Jamesvsthekraken 03-01-2010 05:10 PM

ok back to the main topic "when is the next BIG update?" well im guessing in another week it will be on test and im guessing it will be the new island/area of Raven Cove :) xD

I am not a hard core gamer either. I am a hard core disney fan. I do belive disney has not lived up to their potential with POTCO. Creativity is not large part of the game. You can dress your pirate, add limited tattoos and jewelry. The hair for female pirates is horrible. The shoes are ugly. Quest clothes are with the exception of Truehound's shirt and red sash and the Barbossa coat and pants hideous. The tattoo quests, one which awards a chest tattoo that cannot be seen on female pirates.

I would much rather waste my time changing clothes, hair, tattoos, jewelry than rank but there is not much to choose, so I have a level 50. I want new clothes.... even some of the old options that have been removed ...

Disney could make all those treasures we collect useful give me a cabin to put them in and decorate.

Let me customize my " Wicked Enchantress" so it does not look exactly alike all the other ships out in ocean named the same thing.

Chatting, I do that. Helping others, I do that. GM events, yep. Quests ok first go around, maybe second.

I like beating enemies finding the best stragedy to defeat them... wow doing that you level up.

So the next update... it is coming soon .... it is always coming soon

But the real question is ... Will the update be what you wanted?

seafox 03-02-2010 02:42 AM

What a nice thing it would be to have the sole right to our ships name, like a reward or actually win a quest prize more often....I agree bout the clothes, some of our dreams "can come true." Others, depends on how much Dis wants to pay for more tech. to make it happen...and some, well, dream on......;)

Midhav 03-18-2010 12:16 PM

Argh i wss expecting a major test update today........ as in new weapons.... as in because it is Thursday. Oh well, maybe 20th it might be....?

Jamesvsthekraken 03-18-2010 03:19 PM

Captain Whale 03-18-2010 05:14 PM

There are no Test release notes about this being put on Test tonight. It would be nice but it's not there yet.

Captain Whale

Barkjon 03-18-2010 06:24 PM

Would be nice if they skipped putting the new stuff on test and brought it straight to live!

- Disney talking - Bugs? So what! Let's let these live players deal with them!

That would be nice for once.

Jamesvsthekraken 03-18-2010 09:08 PM

this definitely will be coming tonight to the test game at least i hope it is. i so hope im like right. :stcheesy::stpat_06:

CaptainElizabeth 03-18-2010 10:45 PM

I think Disney has definitely let us down with the updates. The quests are kind of repetitive but they are getting a little better. Plus, each quest has a story to it, and that makes them interesting. And it's also fun to help out other pirates, and see them level up, and have fun. But i know, they need alot of improvement but, I love this game, and it's a great escape when you have some free time, or maybe your just bored. This is a fun thing to do. And to me, it is really exciting to level up and work your way up there.
And for you Level 50's out there, if you are going to just quit now, don't just give up forever. Keep checking on the sites, and see what new things have come around.

Also, with the whole, your embarassed to admit you play, My whole family knows I play, cause well they are your family, they will love you, if you play POTCO or not. So I don't mind if they know. My friends on the other hand, some of them know just because they have seen the icon on my desktop and asked, or I've played when I was with them. And they have seen me play other virtual games like toontown, BABV, vmk, pixie hollow, ect. And they have never judged me. They are still my bestfriends. So if your worried about your friends knowing, cause your embarrassed, or your afraid they will judge you... I think you need to re-check you definition of a true friend. Cause if they are really your friend and if they care about you they won't care what online game you play. And if playing online games is wierd, well let me tell you, there is alot of wierdos in this world, And we will stay wierdos! :)

So to me this is a really fun, cool game, and i'm always going to stay dedicated. I'm here till the game shuts down, which I hope will never happen!

Forgive me for being a little cruel about this but, alot of testers are really complaing about losing progress and pirates. I am not a tester and I would be angry to lose my pirates and progress but, you should know the risks that come with the test server. Everything on it is in a test setting and unknown bugs will always happen. So if you cant accept that fact then maybe you should not test at all because to be honest, bugs are to be expected on test, even rare ones like this.

Having progress lost is NOT a bug, but the developers have been reseting all of our progress everytime the update something. Which is lame, because they've never had to do that before.

I'm not even going on the test server until this goes live. When this goes live I'm not going on live, I'm going on test so I can level my pirate back to 19 and be where I was at before they reset me.

If they need to reset us any time they do an update, I'd prefer they make it so we can't go on to progress at all.

What worries me the most out of this entire inventory update is that the "reset" might become the preferred method of dealing with follow-up patches.

shhhh! Don't give the developers any ideas lol

Angel Seafish 04-10-2010 03:30 AM

I really don't like that reset. God forbid them doing anymore resets! I already lost 1 pirate from it I don't want to lose more!

The Skirata Clan 04-10-2010 04:03 AM

I hope that the new stuff get tested more. I have waited a lot and I rather have quality than quantity. And Testers, you represent the good quality of the game. Do your jobs, volunteered, but yours non the less. Make us Openers proud.

Makes me feel like getting reseting three times is actually worth it when someone tells me I deserve a pat on the back.

There are just a few more bugs, but it's up to the developers to fix them now.

Kat Five Knives 04-15-2010 11:40 AM

Wonder if this is it??? They are an hour over due... something big is going on....

Edit... ugh.. I have to get ready for work now.. so I guess I will not know. You guys keep me informed ok?

Dog Firestack 04-15-2010 12:29 PM

Well well, might have the BIG update coming. Live is closed and it's over due by like 2 hours so it might be the updates! No school tomorrow so I can stay up late as I want :D

Thanks for the support Skirata.

Personally, I have no problem with the resets. So I have to level up some more. SO WHAT. I have to level up more without a reset too. Lost weapons? no big deal. I'll get new ones. After the first reset Disney let us know that it would happen. We were pre-warned.

I highly doubt that this will turn into a preferred method. Since this was such a huge update, my theory is that they are fixing everything outside of test and then loading in the entire updated update all at once. In order to do this they need to erase the previous version of the update, which in turn resets everything to the way it was. With smaller and less game changing updates it probably won't be too hard to patch the game the way it always was. A little understanding for the difficulty of something this big is due to Disney. Many people have said it and I'll say it again, if you don't like it, don't test.
