Pirates Online Survey (Merged)

Anyone else just get the link to the Pirates Online Survey emailed to em? I just got it, and completed it. Woot. Now, hopefully they listen!

I asked for MORE INVENTORY SPACE! Woot!!!!

=D

Would love to hear what you all think about the questions, and if everyone got it. (Im sure you all did!)

James Bladefury 01-14-2010 02:19 AM

I gave them 3/5, I wanted Kraken, Join Differ Groups, and Guild Hideout

Disney POTCO Survey

I actually thought it was a decent and fairly in-depth survey (and the later questions were specific to my early answers). I hope D is listening up!

I answered that I was currently NOT a paying member, and after that a lot of the questions dealt with trying to dig into the depths of my soul and pry out exactly why I have played "longer than 6 months" but don't pay (they asked questions like "Were you aware that Pirates Online offers a new subscriber deal so that the first month's cost is half-price ($4.99)?" and "How interested would you be if Pirates Online offered week-long subscriptions for a reduced price?").

This was probably my favorite question - looks like big D has been gathering ideas from POF!

I love many on that list,I like the Guild Islands/Ships and Dungeons because they are such a refreshing ideas.Several others are top priority as well like New Storyline (chapter) and Ship Customization.

Captain Sureshot 01-14-2010 02:42 AM

Aye Nelly, I too received the POTCO Survey through OpinionsHereDotCom. Seemed like a fairly good general survey.

Overall I rated the game a 4. I feel the lack of new story content warrants a 3, but I still enjoy the game so much I had to give it a bonus point.

Captain Del 01-14-2010 02:45 AM

I just filled out the survey 2 minutes ago. I gave POTCO a 4, mainly because it was talking about the game itself, not its social aspects.

My favorite question was when they asked what features you wanna see in the future. That question really showed to me they ARE listening to us. I said I wanted New Storylines, Enemy Forts and Raids/Dungeons as my top 3. Call my influences based on WoW, but I would be really interested to see how they would play that out :)

Mark bladeflint 01-14-2010 02:47 AM

I got it too XD. I also gave it a 4 because I want more stuff XD.

Pirates Online Survey

When joining the game only about three months after did I get a survey. It wasn't too detailed, but I enjoyed doing it.

Now the one I just did is very detail. When getting to, "In the future, what types of game experiences would you like to see more of? Select all that apply." a huge list of things came up.

The survey was... very interesting to say the least. It asked me to rate pirates online, say what I think could make it better, say what problems I encountered during the game. It asked me about whether players affected me or not, too, and whether they played a good role in keeping the game fun...

Just a bunch of things, really.

Has anyone else done this yet? It also asked me to pick the three most important things I'd like to see in the game. I said ship customization, the Kraken battle, and was other for specific. The third one I said that if I joined a group like Davy Jones or Jolly Roger I should be able to quit the group or stop being with them so I can try out other groups just so I can get a lot of variety.

Really good survey, and I hope they actually see the results.

P.S. It asked how I would rate pirates online, and I gave it a four. It asked me how to rate Disney... two.

Angel Seafish 01-14-2010 05:02 AM

I had to give it a 2. Why? No new content. I'm just glad they have heard enough complaints about that and made a survey. And a LONG one at that.

Kat Five Knives 01-14-2010 05:37 AM

I gave the game a 4 as well.
On the suggestions for new material, I suggested guild halls that are customizable by the GM and can ONLY be attended by guild members. This would be awesome for guild meetings and keep others from 'popping by' during the meeting.

The Skirata Clan 01-14-2010 07:18 AM

I think, they are afraid to lose more of us. I am glad that at least they are understanding that without us pirates (basic or not) they might be out of a job. They now know that We Are the game. I hope that they use all the input they get and do something productive with it. I wish this is a sign for improvement rather than the path that they were following. I am extremely happy to see hopes for a better POTCO game. I am glad that with this (so far) the game we all love might come back from its pending doom.

combatlizzy 01-14-2010 07:55 PM

Just finished the survey. I give Kudos to Disney for asking for our opinion. I think this will help them in directing the game to make us all happy pirates!

Eliza Creststeel 01-14-2010 08:05 PM

Did the survey last night and am encouraging all of our guild to do the same. I do like that many of questions focused on the fact that I'm an adult playing - not a kid.

Jack I 01-14-2010 09:48 PM

Just curious, is there a link to this survey that could be posted where everyone could take it, or is the survey something that logs by your IP or login information that could not be shared? While still playing, paid, and somewhat active I haven't received such a survey - possibly because Disney doesn't like to converse with me at all anymore - and was wondering if there was some way the survey could be put out where everyone is available to make an opinion.

Captain Whale 01-14-2010 10:51 PM

They may still be sending them out. I have a friend with two account that got the survey on different days. So it may be they are sending them out in groups.

Kaionai 01-15-2010 01:08 AM

The secound they found out I pay for the game, they closed my survey...Have no idea why.

Thank for your participation than that's it.

Basil Dreadflint 01-15-2010 01:55 AM

Yeah, I got the survey. And, like Kaionai, as soon as I told them I paid for the game, was unlimited, they decided that they didn't want my opinion anymore.

I tried twice, and it happened both times. Then I tried by telling them that I wasn't a paying player, and it started asking me the questions, so I closed the window.

Apparently, all the opinion is for is to gather info on how to entice non-payers to start paying.

I will say this: If you get to the part asking about what changes and additions you want, choose carefully. If you pick everything, or even half of the options, then your choices have less power.

Dan_OB 01-15-2010 02:17 AM

I'm a paying member and I got all the questions. In the email they sent you to tell you about the survey there is an address to contact them with in case of problems. I had a problem with it ( kept asking for my user name over and over again) and they responded quickly when I reported it.

So shoot them an email, if you like.

Crazypirate 01-15-2010 02:27 AM

I am a paying member and it asked me all of the questions some were good but some were just rediculous like "Do you like to manipulate or annoy other players in game" but hopefully they will listen!

I received this survey, indicated I am a paying member for the longest period they gave as a choice, and received the entire questionaire/survey. Didnt see that it was targeting paying vs non-paying. Seemed to me they wanted to know what we thought of the game, and what we wanted to see in it. (not that they will actually listen) Hope they do!

As far as asking for changes we want, and multiple selections resulting in less power?
Not the way they gave the survey.
They give that list TWICE in the survey.
First check all you would like to see, then again to choose only 3.

Midhav 01-15-2010 09:11 AM

I got it as well. They gave us a note of what is to come. But they didnt give us a timeframe? So my guess is that the next update is the Loot and Inventory with New weapons, but where does redesigned forests come into all of this?
Anyway, some of the things they told of to come intrigued me. Guild ships, Character classes, dungeons, raids, and more PvP games? I'm not sure, but did they mention something with Privateering? I'm really glad at new ship classes, ship customization, pirate hideouts, trading ( i have been waiting for this for a year and a quarter ), new storylines ( finally!, not saying that Invasions and Casa were not part of the story till now ), etc. They asked me whether i wanted a role in the story, and to manipulate it, I said YES. But i strongly disagreed with meeting with POTC film characters, annoying people, etc.
I didnt see the "Others" entry, where i could have suggested a redesigning of all that hasnt been redesigned yet. I also should have said main islands should have long distances between them, and that enemy ships should have accurate movement. I wonder why they haven't come up with anything to do with Guilds yet, new features and all.
I gave the game a 4 rating, and my favorite of all that is to come is working for the Company, Navy, Jones, and Jolly. Basically i think i would initially go with the Company, not get involved in pirate wars, as a merchant trader, then change allegiances to the Casa de Muertos, but till then I'd be with the Rage's Marauders guild .

Deadeye Liz 01-16-2010 06:10 AM

I received this survey as well. I heard from many people about it, and I was looking forward to giving my opinion, only to be let down again. It only asked me about 5 questions. Im going to redo the survey, and not tell them im a paying member. Gonna see if that works!

Well, that made no difference!!! Heres the link I got, is it the same as yours? Just curious...

lostmymarbles 01-16-2010 08:25 PM

Here are the questions for the abbreviated survey...

1. Are you a Male or Female.

2. How old are you?

3. In the past month have you played any online games on a computer?
- yes
- no

4. Including yourself, how many people live in your home?

5. In your home, who plays online games the most frequently?
- Parent or guardian
- Brother or sister
- Child
- Me
- Significant other
- Other (Specify: )

6. Which of these online games or game sites do you currently play? Select all that apply.

- World of Warcraft
- Free Realms
- CartoonNetwork.com
- AddictingGames.com
- Runescape
- Pirates of the Caribbean Online
- Miniclip.com
- Club Penguin
- None of these
- Other (Specify:)

At this point it indicated 13% of the survey was done.

When I answered question number 6, I got....

Thank you for your time. Thank you for your willingness to share your opinion with us. We hope you'll continue to participate in future surveys, as we value your opinions.

This royally ticks me off. :degen:

I sent off an email of course.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I'm emailing you regarding your survey.

That was the most useless survey I've ever seen. The only information that you asked for was generic basic data info. Now if it was truly your purpose to figure out how old I am, if I am the one who plays the game, and if I have paid for other games, then you got what you wanted.

I was expecting more than that. I was expecting something more along the lines of how do I think POTCO is doing in regards to providing the gaming population with an enjoyable game (When I started two yrs ago, I would have said great...not so anymore). Or if I am content with POTCO's lack of new content during these past two years (I'm not). Your survey didn't even ask my account name.

Thanks for a useless survey, hopefully this does not indicate the trend in which your game is currently heading.

MacIronhawk 01-16-2010 08:39 PM

lostmymarbles, exactly what did you answer for number six?

I asnwered POTCO and for specific toontown. And then I got about thirty more questions after that which went into great detail about the game like what I wanted to see in the future and if anything affected my gameplay.

There might have been a bug for you, because the survey ceretainly wasn't useless to me.

Personally, I think this survey is going to help the developers decide what they need to do to make the game better. All the questions they asked me made me feel like my opinion was important to them.

lostmymarbles 01-16-2010 09:02 PM

I answered yes that I payed for Pirates and for LOTRO. I also went back and tried to answer it as nonpaying as I also have a basic account. Still got the same short survey.

Edit: I forgot about toontown..I might try that as I also have a TT account for a grandchild

Edit again.. I tried again.. still got the abbreviated version of the survey. Sorry but this was useless and infuriating, especially since I have been a paying customer since Dec 2007. I stick by my opinion of the survey.

MacIronhawk 01-17-2010 01:06 AM

I can see why you're frustrated.

That's really just... odd, because I said I was a paying member and it let me answer a lot of questions. Can't really tell you why that happened, but all I know is the survey I took was fine, but the one you took is... annoying. Six questions and you're done seems like a waste of time.

Mine went exactly 1 question futher. It asked if I played for free or paid for the game. As soon as I said I paid for playing, I got the thank-you.

I have decided that even Disney's surveys are glitched! If they can't even make a survey work properly, then how in the world can they make the game work properly?

Midhav 01-17-2010 06:05 AM

Already did. No response at this time.

Capt Seafury 01-17-2010 09:19 PM

I got multiple surveys to fill out because I have multiple accounts.
The first one, I said I paid and it stopped there, but for my other account's survey, I said I didn't and it kept going.
You can't just use the same link, me thinks, you have to get multiple surveys to fill it out multiple times.

Dockwrecker The Privateer 01-17-2010 11:04 PM

Ok,now it has happened to me,it ends my questions at whether or not I pay for the game or any other games.I checked None of Theseand it stoped at the 13% mark.I'm angry sort of,I had my notebook with me and everything....

Angel Seafish 01-18-2010 03:33 AM

I said I payed and it continued. lostmymarbles, I do agree this was a useless survey. Does age matter? Nope. I thought this was a very LONG survey, and about half of it wasn't even about the game. "Do you like harassing other?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! What was the point of that question. They didn't even ask for the username. And another question was "What other games would you like to see?" That one didn't really fit in because this is about our opinion on pirates online and what would we like to see in it? They cant start something until they get pirates online up and running. Does Disney really think they can do that? They can barely keep pirates online running.

ukebec 01-18-2010 07:48 AM

Well, what the heck??? I took the survey.

Is it because of my age, or because there's only 1 person in my household, or because I don't play other MMORPGs??? At 13% of the survey it ended. I tried it again and got the same result. It didn't ask for my opinion of the game, or for any suggestions, or a number rating!

I've played this game for 2 years and I'd like to be heard. I'm furious right now.

*Edited to say* Well, yes, it's age-based definitely. When I pretend to be a 17-19 year-old I get to the point of questioning where it asks what online games I play and which I pay to play. After that, regardless of my answers, it ends.
