New Enemies

Alright so I'm on tortuga in invasion, and I see these weird enemies coming my way... their powder keg runners. They have these explosives cannisters and kill fast... Del, DTP, and I were freaking out (DTP = Dockwrecker the privateer), and we are still fighting... Good Luck :smiley_toxic:

James Bladefury 01-08-2010 11:41 PM

Del will post some screen shots, believe me, they are worth looking at, that was insane...

djr_8fan 01-08-2010 11:46 PM

Woot!! too cool even though you were freaking out. Cant wait to see the screen shots!

James Bladefury 01-08-2010 11:51 PM

kk, Del will prolly be posting asap, cause he is currently afk, we will see...

Aaron McEagle 01-08-2010 11:52 PM

Once you calm down....

Maybe you can explain them such as...
  1. Weapons they used
  2. Attacks they used
  3. How strong there attacks are

There he is. . . . Be careful don't get closer to him because you get died easily. :EnemyBullet:

Captain Del 01-09-2010 12:01 AM

Heres an up-close look at the guy (sorry its a bit crazed-up, it was lagging a bit, and I wanted to get as close as possible before he got killed:)

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...8_17-34-47.jpg

And in response to Aaron:

1. They use a barrel of TNT, which acts like a super-powered siege charge. The only difference if they don't throw it, you need to be in close range for it to hurt you.

2. All they really did was just let you get close, and then blast you.

3. They can one-shot anybody, including myself and a level 50. So, stay away, mates.

Dockwrecker The Privateer 01-09-2010 12:03 AM

Ye have to love the TNT! :)

Deadpool 01-09-2010 12:09 AM

Hey!! Dying on the daily basis is my thing!!

CarribeanThunder 01-09-2010 12:17 AM

The Powder Keg Runners are probably just Jolly Roger's W.M.D.s ( Weapons of Mass Destruction ). They look pretty cool looking, and I wouldn't mind seeing them ( as well as the Undead Captains, right Disney? ) around the Carribean's stronger leveled caves ( Cursed Caverns ( those of you who don't know, this is the new name for Tormenta Cave, which didn't OFFICIALLY have a name, but was originally given Tormenta Cave by players, and was soon known as Tormenta Cave ), The Catacombs, etc. ). Powder Keg Runners, to me, should be found in different places. That is, if they're not already on test.

These guys are up with Undead Captains, in terms of strength.

One question: Does this guy kill himself after killing you as well ( as in, him blowing you up while at the same time, blowing himself up ).

James Bladefury 01-09-2010 12:33 AM

Aye Del said it, strong enemies they are. They have the power of an explosive cannonball rank 5

Tom Sharkwash 01-09-2010 12:59 AM

What level are they?

Captain Del 01-09-2010 01:00 AM

As like the levels on all enemies in invasions, there are none.

The Skirata Clan 01-09-2010 01:11 AM

I wonder why they released this new enemy without testing it first, or making a big fuss about it like they usually do.

CarribeanThunder 01-09-2010 02:11 AM

Disney didn't release this guy. Jolly Roger just made an Undead Gravedigger stronger, and told him to carry TNT Barrels.

Angel Seafish 01-09-2010 02:12 AM

Looks interesting. Looks like staff time!

swordshot 01-09-2010 02:13 AM

so they EXPLODE there selfs and kill you too!?

LOL!

They should make an enemy with a staff.
I think we may see these guys in actual gameplay when chapter two comes out this spring/summer.

Indeed. Will this be a new explosive to grenades? But does damage to yourself too. But they should have really put this on test first.

Captain Lansing 01-09-2010 02:34 PM

Yah

Yah, Will and I were both on the same beach when they came. SOmeone yelled ''These guys wre new!'' To bo honest, i did not notice until I saw like 6 lvl 40 pirates koed by one of them. I went to heal them when I was koed to!

A lvl 50 dropped in one hit!!!!!!!:psmiley27:

ex8404 01-09-2010 04:13 PM

Do we really need (an edited word meaning self murder) Bombers in our games too?

swordshot 01-09-2010 06:52 PM

Lol!!!
When they explode us they shhould die :(

swordshot 01-09-2010 08:25 PM

so they go boom???

Captain Del 01-09-2010 08:45 PM

Well, what basically happens is they don't MEAN to kill themselves. Its just like when we use grenades. When we get to close to our target, the impact hurts us as well. So basically, when you get close, they keel you (I KEEL YOU!), but they keel themselves as well.

Angel Seafish 01-09-2010 09:18 PM

Lol Del....

Anyway what is the point of fighting them if they just keel themselves? lol

Capt Seafury 01-09-2010 09:29 PM

Question: do they throw the barrels (lol) or do they just blow up, keeling you.

Captain Del 01-09-2010 09:33 PM

@Angel: They don't kill, sorry, keel themselves. You need to be standing near them for them to kill themselves, which at the same time, kills you. So, in retrospect, you need to fight them to kill them (even if they do most of the damage.)

@Seafury: No, they don't throw the barrels. They have a VERY small range, but if you step in to it, your gone. Of course, once they hit you, they end up hitting themselves. Either way, whenever they deal damage, they recieve damage.

Dockwrecker The Privateer 01-09-2010 09:51 PM

I'm going to call their new attack ' BOOM '. :p

Captain Whale 01-09-2010 11:17 PM

I believe these guys will be sappers. Designed to take out the barricades and the Faithful Bride quickly. If we don't deal with them that is.

Should be able to take them out with long range weapons. Staff works well I hear using Flaming Skull. The explosion is very powerful and can take out a lvl 50 in one hit.

Time will tell mates

Yes. You need to kill them, whether using Grenades, Pistol, Staff, or their own weapon against them ( going right up to them ).

Another Question ( that hopefully SOMEONE can answer ): Do you have a short amount of time to get away from them, or do they blow you to shreds the second you get into Attunement range?

Yet Another Question: I forgot, what Wave do they come in at?

It usually takes them about, meh, 5 seconds to recharge their attack, so after they attack, you have (about) 5 seconds to get in, and get out.

Angel Seafish 01-10-2010 02:28 AM

5 seconds doesnt give me much time to hit them with my staff or attune them with my doll.

As that Power Keg Runner would say "CUZ I'M TNT!" rofl.

Mark bladeflint 01-10-2010 04:05 AM

Whoa those are scary :P. Maybe thats why there havn't been any tortuga invs in a while. One question though, how much health do they have? Is it like a grave diggers health, or something stronger?

James Bladefury 01-10-2010 02:01 PM

They have about boss undead pirate health during an invasion with few people. You must take them down as fast as possible, or you will be ko'd, and they bring buddies from the water to watch over you... for some odd reason, when I was ko'd they were standing over me to make sure I was ko'd... kinda weird, may be a glitch

Jeanne Stormcutter 01-10-2010 02:53 PM

Interesting to have a totally new enemy in game, we'll see how we are able to take them down... :D From far away at least, based on the things i have read... Haha!

Well, the first invasion they appeared (and the last invasion that took place,) there was about, meh, 15 of us? While they did extremely high damage, you could take them out in like, 2 Flaming Skulls. So, they are basically just like Goliath (not the ship, the warrior.) Really strong, but you don't need much to kill him.

If I remember correctly a few come in the first wave and then the number doubles or even triples in the second wave. They are self destructive if they get to a barricade,I saw one get to one of the first barriers and it blew up along with the whole barricade. So I think one is enough to destroy any barricade.

Jolly Roger 01-11-2010 05:21 PM

Creepy so this must be a hard enemy too defeat
.Too bad i haven't seen any.Wonder if they will make it into the game.
So pretty much the only way too kill them is too get knocked out by him.

Thanks Dockwrecker! I think they are indeed Sappers then. Thier job is to remove the barricades then destroy the target. We can't ignore them then but will have to be careful not to take out groups of our own pirates when we kill them. They are probably easy to kill for just that reason. I hope they get everything fixed soon and i am glad they are working in new enemies to keep the Invasions fresh.

Captain Whale

combatlizzy 01-11-2010 06:20 PM

I was able to take them down with flaming staff...they didn't harm me. But the pirates close to them are the ones that got ko'ed for the most part.
Sometimes they appeared in pairs. So I imagine, a kind of stategy would be to use long range weapons-but try to defeat them as soon as they come ashore. The Keg Runners can't be allowed to approach the barricades or lose themselves in a crowd of pirates. That is when they are dangerous!

Chalupa 01-12-2010 12:09 AM

sounds like an epic enemy!

Captain Del 01-12-2010 12:47 AM

Call me mean, but these things are great noob destroyers... I can only imagine if one of them got loose on Abassa....

Captain Whale 01-12-2010 02:31 AM

LOL - Captain Del these things were taking out lvl 50's in one shot from what I heard.

P)

combatlizzy 01-12-2010 02:35 AM

If you are a member of the Helm...I posted today invasions on test there.

CarribeanThunder 01-13-2010 03:39 AM

Padres Del Fuego Invasions are up. As far as I saw ( 1 Invasion ), they did not pop up. That's too bad, they gave us a great challenge, which is something we've all been BEGGING for.

Angel Stormwalker 01-13-2010 04:45 AM

yea they dropped me lvl 50 pirate in a heartbeat lol

On a quiet server during a Tortuga invasion only about 12 pirates total defending the island, powder keg runners came on to the beach in large groups of about six. I had the impression that the new enemies came on to the beach alone or in pairs, I was suprised to see so many in a single wave.:pirate_flag:

Captain Lansing 01-18-2010 05:20 PM

yah, they kill in ONE hit rofl

James Bladefury 01-23-2010 04:26 AM

Indeed they do lol
