Yes i myself am interested in this game, hopefully ill be unlimited during that time.
And no they are still yet to deliver the Kraken according to some pictures of GAMEPLAY OF THE KRAKEN. I saw these kind of new pictures and it seems that the beast has something more to do with regular gameplay, or it could just be some kind of Giant Squid.

Sarcasm can get lost in the midst of text sometimes.

I'm guessing by using one date within the entire post, there will be less confusion if they had said two different dates (one for the Unlimited status requirement and one for when players will receive codes).

Do like the though of another little game like COTD that I can get some stuff from. I would think that what we'll end up with will be either a piece of sheet music, or a code for an item.

Now we have COTD and COTK. That might get confusing... for a pirate like me, anyways! :laughks2:

I cancelled my subscription, thinking that it would be good to have a break. But I'm strangely still unlimited! So much for the break.
I wonder what the prixe is though.....

They say the award is a Kraken Tattoo (in the pirates website)... Hm hm... Maybe you'll call me a pessimist but it's not so attractive and we have too little infos about this mini-game.

Not a chance, they gave that date, because they are going to procrastinate to create the game until February, then it will arrive on February 28th. or knowing them, February 29th, which shouldn't happen for another few years.

i was checking pirates online today and it said a new game by the gms came out. it is called: CALL OF THE KRACKEN. if u r an unlimited access member on jan. 31 2010, u will be sent an email showing how to download it. i just wanted to let my fellow pirates know.u can post if u would like. but plzzzzzzz, no negative posts!! i am a new member so give me a break.:plunder:

I don't see anyone happy about this. Every new News Article hat comes out people ask for The Kraken. "When is it coming?" and "They promised". Well here it is! The Kraken! Three cheers for The Kraken! Disney promised it and here it is!

I don't know what the last days of VMK were like, but I am feeling like POTCO might be in those last stages.

But hey, At least we won't see anymore Kraken "Whereabouts" threads that come up with every update.

Skirata, please dont say that. POTCO is the only remains of VMK and even though there hasn't been much to do i do NOT want to see it end the same way VMK did. :(

I'll play the game, since it will be a break from weapon grinding. Now if only they could get the real Kraken out into the game...

P.S. Is anyone else getting the feeling this is a huge hint at the Kraken coming within the next two to three months?

I never got my #3D Glasses. Or anything I was ever supposed to get. What are the chances Iwill get my code to this game? Wait and see.

No really, as long as Disney releases chapter two, they're good. Or, this could happen (probably will):
People are going to rush through the newly released second chapter as fast as they can so that they can have their fun week of acomplishment, and then start complaining about how they don't have a chapter three, forcing Disney to rush themselves into promises they can't keep, ending up making the players who rushed very upset.This final stage will probably be at the end of this year. That is what I like to call The Content Cycle in a Nutshell.

I want in game experiences that I can do with my guildmates and friends. I play mmorpgs for the interaction with others.

I like the way the game looks like - a few of my friends said that the demo version looks very good!
Can't wait to get to actually play it at the beginning of next month, the demos weren't for Vista,

I just love how they keep our interests up - and at the same time probably get new paying customers.
Every paid account helps, i am sure... Where else would the development money come from? :D

Can't wait what else they have in store for us - since they had time to develop a mini-game that
means that they have something big coming to the game also... I wonder if the future happenings
will have anything to do with the upcoming movie? The movie itself probably brings hundreds or even
thousands of new players to the game, so i hardly see the game end, in my honest opinion.
Some may find interests elsewhere, but as a Fan i believe Pirates Online will keep on growing during
this year and the next!

Just received my code as well. Guess Disney could tell we were antsy to see what the big fuss was all about. :Anti-Piracy_Icon_P:

At the bottom of the email, it says "Codes must be redeemed by 1/31/10"... I guess they realized that their original date of week after that wouldn't be quite right if the codes expired before we got them. o.O

The game currently doesn't work on vista... And of course, I'm on vista.

This mini game seems to be a big confusion for everybody.

And now, the email says "Codes must be redeemed by 1/31/10"... For a young player, how can he understand all this mess ?

Where can you download the game if you're unlimited access, I am confused.

Im so mad at Pirates staff right now. Lets see. They give us a free download of a game. Good idea. Not realizing that most of those who play anything on a computer now have either Vista or Windows 7 if we are using a PC. Not smart. Now what are we gonna do? Guess I'll be sending a not so nice email to the customer support.

You can download the game when you'll recieve an email.

I installed the game on my mum's PC, (she has XP) and the game works as well. I tested it a minute ; and the game is not so bad and there are some good ideas.

Update. After being unsuccessful in downloading the game b/c I have Vista, I tried to send the customer support an email. Guess what!! It didnt work. Got some sort of error message. Guess I'm gonna post on the Grog Blog now.

I'm with TSC again on this one. Right when so many players were losing faith, Disney delivers - and big time! Now whenever those awful complainers say "where is the Kraken??" we can say "Open your eyes, it's right there! In that other game!"

Also, is the game compatible with Mac? I won't be receiving a code, but since you can only get it using IE and it is even having problems with Windows systems, I assume Mac users were left in the dust. Any Mac users out there have any luck?

Aaron we got it today, some of us anyway. And most of us with Windows Vista or higher or Mac cannont download the game. Seems like POTCO is getting out of giving us anything. No Kraken and no Kraken tattoo.
I sent an emial to POTCO about this asking for it to be resolved because I count send one through the disney download games page.

I have Vista and so does William Swordcastle.

Epic fail. It doesnt work on vista or 7? Only computer I know that has XP is the ones at school O_o

I said to myself, "No Way! There is no way in the world that the Walt Disney Corporation isn't aware that Windows XP isn't a current operating system."

It was three years ago to the date of this announcement that Windows Vista was launched. January 7th, 2007. So long ago that Microsoft has revised it, fixed it and dumped it for the next iteration of Windows. Windows 7 is what PC's are shipped with now.

Why in the world is Disney still programming for Windows XP?!? And then offering me this antique technology as a gift? Will they release Call of the Kraken for Mac OS 9 later this month?

Can these people REALLY be this clueless?!? Or is it April 1st already?

Well, if it makes any of you that can't play it feel any better, aside from the graphics, I think the game's pretty much terrible...

I have a post on page 1 of Call of the Kraken. Sent an email to POTCO about this issue and posted it with the repsonse they sent:

You have to downloaded Internet Explorer to play. I tried it on Safari 4.0.4 and FireFox 3.5.3, and no luck.

I hope they will release the versions for Vista, 7 and Mac someday... I shall patiently wait till the start of February, haha, then i will be bouncing and asking whether or not they will release it.

Although... I do have my FIRST computer in the warehouse... I'd recall i upgraded it to xp many years ago, it might still work! :p

I think I saved my first ever computer with Windows 95, maybe I should go have a look in the basement. It's like having an antiques collection!

I started playing yesterday. I had a fun time. If you want to see my review on it, go to the other games section, so you can see if you actually want to play it :)

It is a pretty fun game, But in my opinion, the leveling system is cool and all, but its either under powered, or you dont level fast enough. At one point in the game, it gets Incredibly hard to defeat this one Warship (Trust me, i got wiped in less than 5 seconds).

Heh, oops, accedently had the skill menu up twice.

Edit, for those who are wondering....

Those numbers on the left stands for the amount of souls you have in that level (Which are using for buying more skills)
That blue thing is the krakens "Eye". Which is just a fancy way of saying its the radar.

That red meter a little to the right of the radar is your health.

And on lower part of your screen, you have Skills. (You start out with 1-3)

Now onto the skills.
The first skill is a Basic skill, you hit the ship you targeting (Click to target)... No recharge time
The second skill hits all the ships in range.
I have no idea what the third skill does, it shoots something green.
The fourth skill Calls upon your deepest rage, and increases your attack strength.
The 5th skill, you target a ship, and use it, and you go under the targeted ship, and do what I did in the third screenshot. (Its usually a one hit Kill, except on Boss shop) There is also a bug with the 5th skill, Sometimes, after using it and your enemy Survives. Then the kraken gets rotated about 90 Degrees, and swim sideways, attacks sideways, until the round ends, or you use the skill again. I have no idea if this was a one time thing, only happened to me once.
The 6th skill Is used from far away, and does a Ram attack. Its pretty good when fighting Galleons.
The 7th skill is like the second skill, but the range is Much bigger, and takes longer to recharge.

If they don't address this issue and fix it soon, the majority of their players are going to be yelling at them.

Hm i have all lvls played but not the bonus lvl. cant find all treasures :(. can anyone help me? when i get the code? and what is the exclusive item that we get?

Im stuck on the first boss fight..

I guess those of us with vista and win7 machines are like I saw here before to pirates online game. Over qualified.

Fortunately for me I still have a couple old xp laptops that i use still.

I finally got a copy of the game. I had to put it on my work computer. Does that mean I can sue Disney if I get fired? :piratetongueor4:

Seriously...


I was too Eric until I realized that I had to level up more. I just loaded up on defense stats and tried it over and over. Use your Bad Breath attack (number 3 I think) to slow the ships down and use a lot of Tentacle Smash, attack 1. I used a hit and run tactic, focusing on the escort ships first. I took two out that way and then started in on the Boss ship.

There are only 3 fish swirls on this map so watch your health.

I think I had 2 points on all the defense stats and I doubled Tentacle Smash. You can do this by just redoing the other missions you already beat. Keep doing them until you have enough Souls to buy the stats. Worked for me...
