I have a personal code I follow when I play. Help others when I can, level and have fun along the way.
No speeding, no glitching to gain an advantage. I will go in a glitch to see a different view or go afk.

The thrilling part of the game is fighting tough enemies using stategy with the outcome an known.

I enjoy a good PvP or SvS match because people make it unpredictable.
Speeders and glitchers have ruined PvP in my opinion. :sadmh9:I will accept match with people I know.If they speed or glitch, I go afk and that is the last "yes" for them.

I think that most of us have personal code, others abide their guild's code. I personally don't SVS or PVP. Because of lag and glitching.

I personally still ask to TP. Or offer help. Some are surprised when I ask. Apparently no one asks before TP anymore.

I abide by my guild code...BBK & I are a perfect match. And TSC...one of our rules is to ask b4 tp'ing or boarding a ship. We also don't fire randomly at ships. We wait until the captain calls the target. We don't glitch for reps. And the most important...RESPECT!

The One Code
 

I follow a One Rule Code. It's simple but it's application is not.

Rule 1: Do no harm.

My personal code in playing POTCO

Rule 1: Don't tp to anyone unless you have permission.

Rule 2: I've told everyone in my guild that I don't care if they tp to me at any time.

Rule 3: If not already helping someone, I will always help out a guildmate or friend that asks for help.
Rule 3a: If it is only to help a bunch of your friends take out an enemy boss, I'll only stick around to do it once.
Rule 3b: Especially if you are a level 9 and taking on Remington with your rude friends. (editors note: I'm no longer in that guild)

Rule 4: I won't complain about rep stealers, but I won't heal you when you are low on health. No matter how many times you demand it.
Rule 4a: I will revive you if you are knocked out while stealing my rep
Rule 4b: I will not revive you a second time if you do not say 'thank you' after the first revival. (editors note: Nobody that has stolen rep and been revived by me has ever said 'thank you', so this rule is invoked often.)

Rule 5: I will not friend you or join your crew if you ask me while running past me. I am happy with my current guild and will not join yours, no matter how many times you whisper to me.
Rule 5a: I will crew up with you if I've jumped on your open to the public ship and you offer.
Rule 5b: If you are cool and funny while in crew, I will indeed accept a friend offer.
Rule 5c: If I ever see anyone from POF in game I would accept a friend or a crew offer.

Rule 6: I will let baby pirate guildmates take control of my ship to help them with a quest.
Rule 6a: I will not be demanded to get a ship for someone who doesn't ask politely.
Rule 6b: I will not be demanded to port immediately once my cargo hold is full. I have more gold than Cap't Jack Sparrow could drink away in a month, so I'm in no hurry to port.

Rule 7: I will not speak ill will of any fellow pirate in guild chat or in crew chat. If ever on the dock in Tortuga in Abassa, I may say a sarcastic thing or twenty in local chat.

Rule 8: I will not report a fellow pirate. I will ignore you and rest well in the fact that since you act like an idiot in the game, you probably are an idiot in real life and in that case I'm glad I'm not you.

Rule 9: I'm playing to have fun, and all my actions will reflect that. In interacting with fellow pirates, I hope that comes across.

I don't really have a personal code. Well, I do always help a player if possible. And I don't steal people's rep. Nor do I teleport to one without permission.

I can't agree more. I used to love and enjoy PVP. Now, it's full of speeders and cheaters. Aside from just that, it has become the center of all things drama. Grrr!

I have a code...

1. I will NEVER shoot into a ship you are already shooting, attack an enemy you are already attacking or, in any way, stop you from getting what you need.
2. I will sail my boat on public but when you shoot a Death Omen while we are "in the red" and I have asked for a Cease Fire, I will close the boat until you get bored and go away.
3. I will always port as soon as the hold is full. I have all the gold I need but you might not so take as much as you can and give nothing back.
4. If you need a heal, I will heal. If you need a revive, I will drop a tonic on you. Thank-yous earn you a second one.
5. I don't respond well to "Come to me!" or "Take me to Port Royal" or any rudeness really.
6. If you are too low a level to be in Tormenta, don't expect me to baby-sit, OK? Go back to Fort Charles and level up.
7. I intend to have as much fun as possible in a short amount of time. If that includes you...Great. If you're a professional Buzz-Kill, take a deep breath and a walk in the park. It will do you some good.
8. I will remain loyal to my guild even though they have all gone away and I am often the only one on line...
9. Never take the wheel of my ship without asking and I will extend the same courtesy to you.
10. I like noobs (I use noob as a term of endearment) and baby pirates and will help at the drop of a hat. Just ask.

Anyway, that's a start... Sounds kind of negative at first but if you read between the lines, you will see that my pirate code is "Do unto other pirates as you would have them do unto you."

We are in agreement on most things but your #3, so I went back and noticed I said I won't immediately port once my cargo holds are full, I guess I should have clarified it to say that I won't be demanded to port right away once the holds are full. I have taken baby pirates out on plunder runs and ported as soon as we were full, I guess I should have made it clear that on my boat, you don't tell me what to do.

Keep to your code and have fun!

This is mine:
1. I ask before I teleport to anyone.
2. I sail my boat in public and port when needed. Money has no object to me (I'm in the twenty thousands). Don't say "Port NOW" if we don't need to. If I'm sailing to level up I'm not terribly worried about money even if my haul is full.
3. I put baby pirates in my guild. I want to help baby pirates with quests so they can get a big level. I won't take em' to outcast but I will to Fort Charles.
4. Everyone is welcome in my guild and will be made an officer if they are responsible.
5. I won't put baby pirates in my crew because I go to outcast alot.
6. If you keep saying come to me and I'm fighting or doing a quest and I keep saying 'Stop I'm leveling up" and they keep saying it, your not a true friend and I will most likely delete you.
7. I will only heal if your a baby pirate in Fort Charles (or any low level place) or I will heal a high level in outcast/ tormenta. And if you need to be revived and your in a place you should be, I will revive (one more for every thank you.).
8. I don't do pvp or svs because of the drama.

Thats about it.

My personal code is this.

1. Take what ye can, give nothin' back.

2. Kindness is key.

3. I have an incredibly long fuse, but should you burn it to the quick, take cover.

4. If you do dish it, you had better be able to take it.

5. There are two kinds of noobs, the "Uber Noob", which I enjoy helping, and the Noob said with the inflection of a curse...

6. I will help anyone in need, but if it gets to the point that I am doing all of your quests for you, I will "teach you to swim" by throwing you in the deep end.

7. My tonics are given freely with no worries as to cost or who you are. Thank yous are appreciated. I dont have the heart to let you go to jail... unless you decided to rep steal. My view is, if you cant kill it alone, dont hit it unless you ask.

8. I too ask permission to teleport, and expect the same courtesy in return.

9. I will accept random friends, but will eventually delete them if they prove to be rude.

10. I do not report any other pirates, as we are all running from the Company...

11. Be warned, i am a very sarcstic pirate.

12. Acting like a noob and swinging swords at random other noobs can be fun...and can be an awesome excersize in improvisation! (The Co. Empire)

13. My code changes according to the guild I am in. I will abide by their rules, and reflect their name as cleanly as possable.

14. gliching is fun. period.

15. When boarding a public ship, my first action before taking a gun is to ask the Captain if he needs an extra deckhand.

I agree with all of the above. My Pirate girls are an extension of me & I try to be a nice, respectful person in RL & Virtual Life. I am on Pirates more to interact with my friends & Guild & all started as strangers that I now love rather than being very competitive. Asking to tp, being respectful of a Captain's ship (it is their home!) not rep stealing (there are plenty of other places/servers to move to) & making friends (not runby friending) are without question to me. I too am always happy to friend someone from POF though :) I am proud & extremely Happy with my Guild although I respect some of our other POF Guilds that are great too & I have friends in.

I have a code! :)

1: Always respect crewmates, guildmates, and captain.

2: Stay of Captains deck, and cannons, unless advised to get on.

3: Never take the wheel of my ship unless you have permisson.

4: Be kind to ALL pirates at all times!(that includes noobs/baby pirates)

5: Glitch.

6: I will always heal/revieve you when needed.

7: Befriend others wisely.

8: If you are rude to me dont expect, any help from me.

9: Never ask me to be your GF. This is pirates online, not eHarmony.(:

10: Always grab a cannon when entering a battle.

11: Respect the Captain of the ship your on.

12: Always call the Captain, Captain.

13: Have fun, and don't go to jail! :D

Im nice to everyone, defend my friends to the end, never rep steal, and never TP without asking.

I DETEST rep stealers. Was at Tormenta during double rep this weekend, and had a girl show up and start lobbing nades at my Urchins. We had a crew, but only one at a time was hitting the Urchins. A friend of hers shows up, cops an attitude, and then starts hitting everything we are after.

I just corralled some Thralls and Urchins, and brought em over while he was nading. =) Needless to say, he took a trip to jail since he had no friends healing. Was glad to be rid of him.

I guess I'll be glad to add my personal code to the list:

1. Always present yourself as a person of good character, whether its with your friends, your guild, or complete strangers. You never know when that might make a decision for you.
2. Don't bother other pirates just because they share an opposite opinion, or just because you don't like them. You can't simply judge somebody by what they believe in, who they are, or who their affiliated with.
3. A little humor is required to get us through the day, but a serious attitude should always be kept in your back pocket when its needed.
4. Always ask before teleporting. I enjoy privacy, and I'm sure some others do as well.
5. I'll be glad to heal/revive ye under me own will, just don't demand it!
6. If yer on somebody's ship, ye follow their ships rules!
7. NEVER EVER cheat or hack in POTCO. I'm firm as a rock when it comes to this, and if I catch ye, ye WILL be prosecuted.
8. I will ALWAYS use proper grammar when I type. talken lik tis is hard 2 read, n i lik it bettr if u put sum effrt in.
9. I'm a flower if your nice, but dont EVER, EVER attack my friends or my guild. Because just like that I can turn on my lawyer/pitbull button.
10. I will always try my best to treat pirates well, even if they treat me bad in return.
11. I will make sure it takes a lot to make my kindness platform break. But when it breaks, you better not be within a mile.
12. POTCO is a game, and games are meant to have fun. So sit back, relax, and let the good times roll. Because you never know when the good times will leave you forever.

My Rules
 

1) I always ask for a reason why you want to add me as your friend, if you say "oh your such a high level" FORGET IT!

2) If you ask me out, or ask me to be your girlfriend, well this is not a dating service and I WILL ignore you! I am here to play and have fun, NOT DATE save it for the real world thank you.

3) I always do unto others as they do unto me :) (you help me, I help you, easy as that)

4) I always ask before teleporting to someone, and I always expect them to do the same

5) I don't revive the lower level people who try to attack the Isla Tormenta enemies more than one time. If they are dumb enough to fight something twice there level while groggy, then so be it. (I am not your keeper)

6) I always ask before I join in fighting if there is a crowd, instead of just blasting away at everything and stealing rep.

7) DO NOT tell me how to drive my ship! And do not take the wheel of my ship without asking me first, and NEVER tell me my cargo is full until I have full royals XD.

8) Be respectful to my crew mates, guild members and friends... you gain my respect that way.

10) If you demand help, or demand me to teleport I will ignore you. But if you ask politely I will try to help unless I am busy.

11) I am a really nice person, however when pushed over the edge I have a bad temper, so I just log off before I say anything that could risk me being banned or suspended.

Thats exactly it... I will help you, and be nice to you, and assist/heal you as long as you do NOT EXPECT it from me. =)

Well, I'm also sorry to say that that's boring. I level up faster with my friends! And when I don't level up fast wth them, I still stay with them! Just for the fun! I'm a good friend, and I love helping friends and guild members too! But really, doesn't that sound fun? So when you're doing nothing, go out and help a friend or someone you don't know. Guild members are ALWAYS a friend, to me!! So at least help someone, by joining their guild for a little, you can exit out of it later.

Question for you, Why did the crew of the Black Pearl go back for Jack at the end of Pirates 1 and why did Elizabeth and Will defend Jack at his hanging?

1) I'll help you defeat things, but don't expect me to do the task for you while you only get in one hit.
2) Don't hit on me. I don't really look like my character.
3) I don't take control of a ship that isn't mine unless the captain asks me to.
4) I always help my guild out.
5) I don't cheat or glitch.
6) I don't use tonics in PVP. In my opinion it gives an unfair advantage, especially if I'm playing against a lower player.
7) I avoid Tormenta unless my guild asks for help
8) If you're on my ship, you follow my orders. Don't take control of the wheel or shoot at ships that I don't want. I will kick you off.
9) Don't insult my guild members or friends. I will take offense as well.
10) If you friend me and I have no idea who you are, I will not accept the friendship. I only friend those I trust.
11) Don't be afraid to start dancing.
12) I will heal you no matter who you are or if I have a personal vendetta against you.
13) Don't order me around such as "Nobody is allowed at this blackjack table but me." We are all players in the same game, and I don't care if you're a 50 or a 5.
14) I ask for help nicely. It tends to get more people to come to me.
15) Don't curse me out. It will get you reported and I will hope that you are banned. However, see 12 for more.

I never thought about this but heres the rules, or my personal code.

Sailing,
I wont shoot ships other people are already attacking.
I wont shoot players ships unless in a svs.
I dont take the wheel of a ship unless the capt. is cool with it.
If your crew mates are standing around not doining any shooting, just getting gold, ill leave untill you clean up the crew.
If your crew sucks ill leave.
I will uncrew you and leave you on a high level island far away from a safe port if your being a noob.
when the capt. dosent want to go for the ship I dont beg or constanly shoot in the direction of the ship.

Fighting,
I wont join people fighting a boss/high levels unless the say its ok that I can help out.
if your a low level and your stealing reps of my high level enemys and you get knocked out, you wont be revied. (or I will not heal you while fighting)
ill only heal low level pirates fighting high level enemys. I wont fight with you becuase im doing your quest for you.

other,
you wont get freinded if your running in circles on abassa, saying things along the lines "freind me! ,crew me! etc..
If you have rules for SvS or PvP, I dont follow yours (no doll, no lighting) ill follow games rules, we are givin those weapons to use at anytime.

I wont join a guild.


maybe we should get all of the good ones everybody agrees on and create a thread named unofical code or courtesy code or something like that, just a thought.

I have a short list. This applies to all games, not just this one.

1. Respect others.
2. I don't cheat, including third-party programs. Period.
3. Have fun!

Yes, I have a code. It's sort of similar to some others posted, but with my own twist.

I always ask before tping, I expect the same of friends.

I will almost always be open to tp from any of my guilds or friends. But I would like to know why you want to tp.

I will help you when you need it within reason. If you are whispering to me four and five times a day what are you doing, no.

If you need a boss for a quest I'm more than happy to help. But if I tell you I'm leveling, don't just ask me to help get a boss so you can level on him.

When sailing I am more than willing to let baby pirates take the helm of my warship. No, I do not care if you sink it. Just let me know you need sailing and my wheel is yours.

No, I will not port as soon as the hold is full. I will port when we have full royals or are close to sinking.

If you sail with me, do not hesitate to tell me what ships you need. I'm more than willing to go after anything that moves.

If I tell you to hold fire I have a good reason. If you do not hold fire and you sink us you will hear about it.

I try hard to be a polite pirate. I expect to be treated politely as well.

I do not rep steal, and do not put up with people rep stealing from me. The first time you get an explanation of what it is you are doing and why it hurts not only me but you. You might get a crew request as well. In which case I will heal you an let you pound away if you are polite about it.

If you rep steal again you will be warned that you are being rude. Do it a third time and look out.

I will defend my friends and guildmates against all comers. I will do my best to be polite if you are. If you are doing anything to hurt or annoy a friend or guildmate you have awakened the dragon, an yes, I do breathe fire!

You will never see me being rude on any of my Malory or Hardy pirates. If I break out one of the Blacks on you you've done something that's gotten me angry, and you're gonna hear about it!

Well... I see this thread is old, but I was surfing threads and saw this one, so....

1) Respect. DURRRR! I respect you, as long as you respect me. If you start to act rude to me, I will probably be able to point out several bad things about you that you wont be able to come back at, and I will feel satisfied that I made a pirate that was rude to me feel like they just got "owned".

2) Don't steal my rep please. Doesn't apply to Davy anymore, but on my lv 21, Lyze of Kiel, it applies. I will politely tell you to stop several times, and if you dont, I may pull out Davy, and shoot everything you get near with my grand blunderbuss.

3) I wont steal your rep. Dont worry, I have no use for rep. The only time I will ever attack someone else's kill is if I am in a crew with them and I have their permission (exception is Abassa/Andaba Darkhart, but I will still ask if I may join).

4) This is in regards to heals. If I am passing by an area, and I see you are low on health, I will be more than happy to heal you if you ask nicely. Heck, if I see you are low on health, and I am passing by, I may come and heal you out of the goodness of my heart! But dont take this for granted. If you aren't polite to me, you wont be getting heals

5) This is in regards to revives. Lets say me and my high level friend are fighting some thralls. He is big enough to take on a thrall by himself, but accidentally sweeps and another thrall kills him. First of all, its not like you are too low a level to fight here, so I will revive you, and if you say please and thank you, I will be even happier to revive you. If you are a level 10 fighting thrall captains, and you are killed, I revive you ONCE. During that time I will tell you that you are probably not high enough level to be here. If you are smart, you will heed my warning, and leave. If you took my revive for granted, and aren't too bright, you will keep fighting, and when you demand that revive, guess what pal, it ain't coming.

6) Please ask before teleporting to me. I dont like having people randomly teleport to me, and I will always ask you first. You dont need to ask me if we are in a crew and I launch my ship, unless I state beforehand not to board it, which is rarely the case.

7) If you are on my ship, treat me and my ship with respect. I dont have to let you on my ship, and I dont have to give you the gold we earn. Respect me and the crew. If you are acting like a jerk, firing at everything you see, and yelling at me to get "That Navy ship I need for my quest!" I will never let you come on my ship again, or at least for a long time. If you politely ask me if I could get a ship that you need if we spot one, I will be more than happy to take some time out and sink it for you.

8) Diplomacy is my thing. I don't want to and I never shall start a "guild war". I have negotiated on behalf of my guild and other guilds, and been successful. If you refuse to play nice, and demand that we go to war. Fine, be that way. I shall leave, and any members of my guild shall follow me. We are more mature than you, and you can go play war. If you see us, go ahead, slash your swords at us. Grow up, it wont do anything.

9) If you need help with a quest, I will be glad to help you if you ask nicely. No explanation needed. If you need gold, go ahead and ask me, I will be more than happy to help you. I could use the loot as well.

10) This is more towards my guild. If you are a new recruit, WELCOME! We are always happy to have new people. Now, if you have been in the guild for two weeks, and you have followed the rules, acted nice, etc., you will be made a veteran. As a veteran, to become an officer, you must have seniority in the guild, respect from the other members, and the approval of other officers. Also, you need to have taken time to bring people into the guild. Then you will be made an officer. If you come into the guild, and immediately ask me "Can I be an officer?" then I will explain to you why you cant be one, and chances are, I won't make you an officer for a looong time. Those who dont ask always move up faster. Also, RESPECT YOUR GUILDMATES! We are there for you! If you respect us, we will all want to help you, and befriend you. We are all very close, and we are happy to accept newcomers.

11) Dont mess with my friends. I can defeat almost anyone in an argument, so don't even try me. I will defeat your argument, crush you, and then send you running like a little pup running to your mother. You DONT want to mess with any friends or guildmates of mine. I will always come to their aid. I will not insult, or try to get physical, but you will be surprised at how I can injure you with words, without saying a single insult.


Thats what I have. I follow those rules, and some other small ones. But those are the biggies.
