Gold from a Ghostly Captain November 03, 2009
http://a.disney.go.com/pirates/onlin...vider_line.gif Captain Cromwell haunts areas of Port Royal trying to make good in death what he did wrong in life. To release his sprit from the bonds of earth he must repay gold he stole that was intended to free an innocent man. Read more about Captain Cromwell and John Moses. http://a.disney.go.com/pirates/onlin...well_Ghost.jpg Captain Cromwell now roams the earth looking for 'good, worthy Pirates'. If you are one, tell Cromwell when you see him, mention the name of John Moses, or tell him 'I've come for Innocent John.' Cromwell will then give you a secret code that can be redeemed Cromwell must repay the gold he stole to free his spirit from the bonds of earth. for gold.
Please note: When you're given a code, we suggest taking a screenshot (F9) of the code for future reference. Since some characters look similar (for example 5 and S) they may be copied incorrectly if you write the code down. If you write your code down, double-check it to make sure you've written down the code correctly. Codes are for one-time use. Once a code is used it cannot be used again. Codes are not case sensitive. |
ohh I assume, like the other ghost he will be on abassa??
|
Disney shouldnt host these events without giving times.
Family game?? Bull. You get people who spend an excessive amount of time in game ANYWAYS, let alone those looking for GM hosts. Kids staying online too long, staying up too late. People SHOULD have lives - kind of hard to do when you are online looking for a random ghost, at random times, on random servers. BRILLIANT DISNEY! I won't be looking, nor will I likely find one. Frankly, who cares. But, hey, I DO have a life at least. ;) |
So... Cromwell is giving the pirates the gold? How's he repaying his debt to Constance by giving random pirates the gold? Wow. She's going to have such a fit when she hears about this.

**sarcasm mode on**
This is great, I'm going to spend all my time looking from Cromwell so I can go from 65,000 in gold to 65,000 in gold... **sarcasm mode off** |
Hmmm...more tainted gold. Rott paid gold for ez quests & now this...Gets me to wondering
|
Nelly, I dont't think they could do this as a timed event. Passing out hundreds of 21 character codes to an angry and disrespectful mob just wouldn't work.
|
I wish they had more GM's going around, or at least say: "Ok, look for the ghosts on the 'B' servers.."
That way we aren't going from server to server desperately searching. All I want is to see them once and that'll be good enough for me. I don't even care about the gold.. it's never significant enough to make a difference anyways. Yipee, 200, 500? Just not making a big enough impact to make me care about the gold. Idk.. I know they are just testing it out, but I would like to see the ghost's appearances a little more frequent? |

Just another distraction to keep people occupied and not have to listen to complaints about lack of content, no new story line!
WHERE'S THE NEXT CHAPTER? |

My hope is that this is all somehow leading up to it. But if they have plans for invasions on both Tortuga and PDF.. then we may not see it for awhile. I would LOVE to see them come out with the new one by Christmas. T hey missed Halloween, their ANNIVERSARY.. twice. So now I have NO idea when they plan to unveil all the new goodies. I just keep hoping each month to see something on Test, but alas.. nothing. I know we complain, and I know people say 'It takes a long time to make the stuff they are working on,' or 'You just have to be patient.' Well I am tired of being patient. I WANT A NEW STORY CHAPTER!!!! Come on already! |
I'll just threaten Cromwell with Holy Water so he'll give me ALL the gold!
|
I think it might be a test to use those codes in the future.

The entire mob aspect when someone spots a GM is what mostly keeps me away from these type of events. It's "role-playing" but it could be done and controlled a lot better than what they're doing now. Right now, it's still very scripted and unidirectional. From what's been posted, I don't really see much two-way interaction in regards to the players shaping the story. The GMs know what's going to happen and play it out for everyone, the rest of us can only react. |

Just met the Captain myself. He was on Abassa and floated to the Governor's Garden in the form of an orange mist. He just stood there and asked us (yes, there were others) what we knew about John Moses. When I finally remembered the words, I said them to him (but I learned you have to say them in local chat, not a whisper!). He gave me a long code that took forever to type, and it only gave me 500 gold. Then he went on scolding the others about how greedy they were. So I don't think it's really worth it to go hunting for him. If you stumble across him like me, then it might be interesting to see what happens.
And, sorry, but I couldn't get any screenshots. My main computer is suffering technical difficulties and macs can't take screenshots. |

I agree that it might be interesting to stumble across the Captain but I won't be seeking him out anytime soon. Abassa is crowded enough when nothing is going on...Now. When does the Founder's Feast start? :ahoy: And Macs CAN take screenshots...You just have to make sure nothing is already mapped to the F9 key. |
I saw a thread about Cronwell... and instead of giving people money he knocked them out.
Not exactly a good use of my time if I'll get knocked out instead. |
But he only knocks you out if---
...Look at it this way. Most people who play the game are little kids who see that a GM is giving out gold. Naturally, they assume he gives gold to everyone he sees. So a bunch of noobs might go to Abassa Port Royal dock and wait for him. If, by an extremely lucky chance, they see him, a bunch of these lucky noobs will circle around him demanding gold (trust me, I saw it firsthand). The Captain tells them that "[their] greed will ensure [their] days will end like [his]". These noobs are confused because they thought that Cromwell was simply giving away gold for nothing. He won't knock you out if you just say the magic words: "I've come to help innocent John!" and Cromwell whispers a 21-letter code to you. Without the magic words, Cromwell is just another player (another player who knocks you out if you irritate him). It just seems that Disney wants to start using these new powers to show what kind of "personality" the GM has. |
:psmiley35wow just gold? o_o i think they should give out a prize like redeem a tonic that makes you invincible or something.. or maybe bring back john from jolly's army? idk but man... JUST GOLD???
