EDIT: I just realized, its only a GM event -.- Oh well, at least this means the invasions are coming soon.
|
Maybe they'll tell us more. Like the duration of the event.
|
Why do they have to talk to us 1st?? Like we are little children that cant read?? -_-
|
Just went to a GM event on Baraba. Guess what happened? Nothing interesting, as usual.
Captain Walter just stood there, telling us about the barricades that will help defend the island, and then just telling us to band together, making us yell "Aye!" and such. After that, Captain Shaw (the head EITC GM) showed up, and, as in the past, Walter made us pull out our weapons and swing them at Shaw like noobs at a higher level player. So, in the end... Boring/usual roleplaying + Extreme Lag + Us wanting the invasions even more now due to impatience = Usual GM event P.S. I'm not saying I don't appreciate them taking time out of their schedule to entertain us, but still. |

K if you won't complain I will.... usual event nothing new nothing suprising same ole mumbo jumbo.....When they gunna do something real in an event? I think a GM event should be used to talk to the player base on a what needs more development and improving pirates, rather then the cheesy thing these guys pull off...:knife: |
These events can work to get info if pirates just ask the right questions. Maybe side with EITC while Walter is there. Make him convince us with things to come and things of that nature.

OK, but what do you all think of the event?
|
Yeah this is really boring for me cause I really want to hear about new content and I have been asking them to tell us in grog blog but unforunately all they seem to give us is GM events and not info on kraken, the golden cutlass etc. All in all, they said back in the developers diary in January/April that the kraken is officially coming this year, hopefully we hear news soon and not more GM events. So my opinion on this Gm event is ok.
|
There are so many rude noobs attending these events that its impossible to GIVE the GM's a chance to talk even. Staffs out, cutlasses, horrible stupid people asking questions rudely, showing no respect.
I was embarrassed for some of these people.... it made me cringe watching the childish behavior. No wonder nothing comes of these, the attending pirates are so rude and uncivilized, no questions CAN be asked or answered. Meh. |
Well I attended the event this afternoon with Thatch as the GM from the Marcelaine Guild. It was crowded yes but overall, thought it was a fun event for role playing etc.
Awaiting the arrival of Jolly Roger and his minions. |

But anyways, atleast its nice they actually talk to us. I hope this event isnt cheasy like the green ocean o_O.... |

Those people you saw must have been jerks. I hate to hear stories of jerks pushing nice people around. :-| CS~ |
I have been to several of these and a lot of pirates out there don't understand what that is. As stated before its not a question and answer session. They are your fellow pirates trying to warn you of impending doom. I enjoy the role playing events for what they are. I go to them when I can and have fun with them. It's a blast to run Shaw and his ilk outta town and trade banter with them.
It would be nice if they would have a question and answer session with us sometime but with the way a lot of the pirates act it would be a mess. So if you like to role play and get into yer pirate's character go to the events and have a blast. If you want to talk to Disney about game content and problems - send an email. With the volume of mail big D gets I am sure they already know about it. So don't clutter up GM events with "when is the Kraken gonna get here!!" or "When do we get the new content". The GM's are in character and can't talk about that stuff. Just my 2 cents, Cheers - Captain Whale |
what did the EITC have to say? havent been to the newer GM event yet and i wont get the chance today .

I know what Roger be doing, and heres how it will go.
1st Roger's Ship Docks up at the main dock at Port Royal. 2nd He sends 1 out of 7 waves of Undead, each getting bigger. 3rd The Undead try to brake the the barricades till they reach the Governors House. 4th The attack and by the 6th wave JOLLY ROGER Himself comes killing Any pirate in his way, he killed a LEVEL 50 on his was to The Governors House then HE HELPS his Undead brake it and TAKE OVER PORT ROYAL. Now that be a true story about whats going to happen and there be no lies mates. |
I was on the Barila server, and it would have been nice if a GM even showed up! I learned from another pirate on my friends list, that a GM didn't show up on their server either. I know GM events are generally a big waste of time to begin with, but if you say you are going to be on ALL "B" servers... then I don't know, this might sound crazy, but BE on ALL "B" servers!
So, seeing as this was another waste of an event, I want to suggest to the GM's some ideas for future GM events! 1) Ask a Pirate Their Favorite Color Event! (Mines Black & Blue Walter, what's yours?) 2) Coin Flipping Competition! ( My pirate is a coin flipping pro!) 3) And my personal favorite.... AFK Battle Royal! ( I'll take on anyone in the AFK free for all) |

I vote we get rid of the roleplay events because not enough players care, and way too many wreck it. My vote is for more content! |
Since it is a role playing event, try twisting your questions to fit within the role playing.
For example: "I've been hearing some tales in the Faithful Bride that the Kraken has been seen in the Caribbean... Have you heard anything about this?" "If Jolly roger is coming to take over Port Royal, how will we be prepared and how can we stop him?" Those are roughly how you want your questions to sound if you want them to be answered. But I think it is really annoying with all the noobs asking, "CAN I JOIN YOUR GUILD????? PLZ????" The GM events are such a mess... |
Do understand that a MAJORITY of Pirates players DON'T have test access...
Many of our members were still not aware of the Invasion feature that's coming. In fact, we held our own meeting last night to discuss it and let those who have been on test explain it to the rest who have not. Many here think that because they are in the know that all others are too. And again - KIDS game... so they do have to treat the pirates a little like kids. Support these guys. If the GM's morale ain't up, they won't work hard for us and those updates we're begging for. |
It was a POTCO "event". I don't believe there is any excuse for a GM not showing up where they are supposed to (Friday second B server) or not showing up at all (Saturday, also second B server), even if it is a lack of morale. The people who are using the Host Game Master avatars are either employees of Disney or interns at Disney. So they are representing and I believe that comes with certain responsibilities. I only support them as much as I see them support players. It is not the job or responsibility of more experienced pirates to cover for for Host GMs or do their job. On the ship battles against the EITC I was left "holding the bag" so to speak, and it was neither pleasant nor fair.
All I see here is another "event" where many, many pirates were unsatisfied with what happened. Hopefully Disney will take a serious look at this and improve the guest experience. |
I loved the events, visited every one of them. But true, they didn't show up in front of Rowdy Rooster every time, perhaps too much crowd?
However, the best way to find them is to hop servers and run through the town! I know that on Sunday the GMs were showing people the barricades around Port Royal instead of flipping coins in front of the bar. The smaller amount of GMs on Sunday was also very understandable, I don't think the Disney staff is getting anything extra during the weekends, they are holding these events just for us to have fun. The thing I don't get is, why do people go to these events if they are not interested? :D I mean, you think the event is the "same old boring stuff as always", and you still go? You like to be bored? Or just want to complain? I saw some rude pirates during the event, running around, pushing people, yelling "WHEN IS THE KRAKEN COMING yarr arr garr", "YOU GUYS SUCK" etc. Very mature, I wonder why they want to treat us like kids...? :piratetongueor4: Once again, Role Play Event means exactly what is says, it's still not a Q&A session.. And as for the new content... You know it is coming, why do you complain so much? And Jolly Roger is not new content? :) As for those who didn't see the GMs during this event should ask their friends about it, pirates are good at spreading rumors, eh? :dancetl6: |
Jeanne, you bring up good points. There are always a fair amount of participants at these things whom it seems are just there to stir things up, that has been obvious from the very first event. Which makes it even less understandable why there isn't better staffing for these events - it's not like it is Disney's first time at the rodeo. My experience playing POTCO is that the servers are busiest on the weekends. Always been that way as far as I can tell. I make the presumption that the team running POTCO is aware of these issues and concerns. Perhaps a post on the Grog Blog and/or a mass email from the Marceline Guild explaining what to expect during a role-playing event would be beneficial. Jumping from server to server works, until everyone else also does it. Whatever the solution is, I know something different needs to be done.

i still agree that what Sureshot is saying is very much true, that the GMs just dumped the responsibility of managing the pirate crowds on him and others, and also that the fact that GMs not showing up when they have to is rather outrageous. ive had it happen to me too. i came to the crew up day event at 7am ( indian time for me so thats why so early ), and i was waiting there for a GM like everyone else, and them Game masters never arrived.... that was dissappointing |
