EITC Black Guard Return!

Lord Beckett's pirate assassins, the EITC Black Guard have returned to the Caribbean in search of Captain Walter and members of the Marceline Guild. After their first round of searches failed, the Black Guard have regrouped in an effort to finally silence the Marceline guild - who led raids against the EITC and revealed much about the future of the Caribbean.

The Black Guard are offering rewards for information that leads to the capture of the Marceline Guild in an effort to stop these pirates! But don't trust the EITC mate, no matter what they tell - they're up to no good!

When: Tuesday, August 11 through Friday, August 14 12PM - 1PM (PST)
Where: Port Royal, A & B named Oceans (servers)
NOTE: All times Pacific Standard (Los Angeles). This is a ROLE PLAYING event. Unless asked to do so by a Pirates Online GM, please keep yer weapons stowed during the event. Please be respectful to your fellow pirates - DO NOT participate in disruptive behavior.

Good Grief... that's a tad early in the day isn't it? Even on the East Coast - that's only 3pm! They must only want kids and the unemployed to attend.

This is alittle sudden, don't ya think? Usually they give you at least a 3 day warning or so, but this is just right out of the blue. I guess they just want to keep us occupied for a little bit. Also, Eliza's right, some people might not be able to make it due to school/work.

Not everyone not at work at 3 is unemployed. For example I work late afternoons and nights sometimes. Lot of people I know work nights and are therefore online at that time.


While I do agree the timing is weird, I also think the whole thing is pretty pointless. It's the Pirates version of Famous Fairies being in the Hollow. Big whoop. A bunch of people are gonna get on just so they can sit around and tell everyone how they met so and so. But they never say anything real so what's the point? It's just a bunch of hoey.

well might as well see whats up with it , after all i want to know what the reward is , might be a eitc hat , or shoes , but mostly i just want to reward to be the dates of the Kraken's and notoriety caps rise release date , so do any of you have some info on the " said guild " i would greatly enjoy it ,just PM it to me, I want a free hat.

They'll be on the A's and B's... and I think tossing Captain Walter to the Black Guard is a BEAUTIFUL IDEA!!

All of the POF guilds should get behind that!

well if capt walter goes afk i'm sure one of the dueces would be happy to push him on over to the black guard.

I would like to send walter and his crew walking down the plank, seeing how we should be paying our respects to the top 40 of the guild competition (which they didn't help out in!).

-_- they do they even take the time to do these things, i think we all understand that it takes time to make the updates and make the game better, but common, the same thing over and over?

Another attempt to keep us busy while they try to work on new content.

They don't need to keep us busy, if they want to have weekly updates to the site then get some pencil sharpener (intern) to post a story line every week just for us to read lol.

Ugh - I agree Schnoodell. The novelty of this wore off a LONG time ago. Work on content, big D, not placation!

If I had to venture a guess as to where Captain Walter was, I would about say he is on a remote island sipping a cold drink and spending all of our hard earned loot, while the drawing board at the POTCO office sits empty. This is just down right pathetic... The Marceline Guild is nothing, why should they even have any recognition among pirates. I could care less if the whole lot of them end up hanging from the Fort Charles gallows. If the EITC Black Guard need any extra rope, they are more than welcome to any extra I have gathering dust in my ships' cargo holds.

I think Ill show up and volunteer to work for the EITC as long as they pay me in new content. I'll get a crew (per Disney's advice) and flush him out.

I give up!....seems to as adults don't matter in disney's eyes anymore it's all about the kiddys! and there (some) cheesy events

In other words, if you like interactive game play and have fun in these events, you're either a kid or a loser? Nice, thanks guys, I love the attitude here, everything new to the game must be put down immediately!

You guys hear of the Brethren Court? It's a group of players - some of whom have commented here on POF that are organizing in-game events - not unlike the events these same GMs help put on.

These GM events offer another aspect of the game - a way for players to role play and have a little fun (AND the RARE chance to interact with the POTCO Online game staff). Captain Walter and the other GMs not only put on a great show but offer insights to future game updates - and don't spoil the fantasy of the game when they appear at these events.

So I get it - when players organize events it's fine, but when the game makers do it, it's lame. Pretty hypocritical - and a great way to support a game you claim to love.

Well said, I for one spent several minutes changing servers yesterday and I seen this event a month back already..

about that insight to knew stuff coming.. well if anybody still trusted that insight and it was believable, well then these events wouldn't be to bad, but we would also have been fighting the kraken back in may, and so on and so forth.

Well, sort of, yes. Player organized events tend to be well thought out and fun for everyone involved. The game makers, on the other hand, pop in, spout off something scripted and riddled in chat, then spend most of the "event" being staffed or naded in a sea of lag.

I understand the role playing thing they're attempting, but it's not LEADING anywhere. I've been to every event and nothing that has been hinted at has come out. Development problems? Probably, but they can't keep saying the same things over and over and expect (some of) us not to get upset when nothing comes of it. Save the rhetoric for the grog blog Disney. If they're going to try for an in-game event, let it be something that's showing us some progress.

I am happy with the game as it is, that's the reason I play and pay for it, of course I welcome everything new but I don't see any reason for putting down the game I love O_o

I'll be at work. And yes, if I knew where the Marcelline guild was (or maybe even if I didn't) I'd turn them over in a flash. Not very enthusiastic about Captain Walter and the Marcelline Guild.

Why aren't the Black guard going after McRaging? I mean seriously--those guys beat the pants off lots and lots of skellies and Navy (and probably some gators; might be time to put them on an endangered species list).

Not a slam on McRaging--I'm just saying making this into a more-integrated story would be much more betters. McRaging won the Strongest Guild competition, so wouldn't it make sense to INVOLVE them in the story line? Why would they go after Walter and the Marcelline guild?

I agree that it's different when players hold or organize RP events.

First, the Brethren Court was established so Guilds could hold events together, I don't believe it was geared to be an role-playing group.

If the same people doing these events are the same people who SHOULD be developing actual material for the game - then their priorities are out of whack.

Should they hire or have people on staff who do JUST these type of events - please, have at it and expand the realm more. But, there's NO defense for having a FIND CAPTAIN WALTER story EVERY MONTH! They can't even come up with anything new for role-playing either?!?

Lame Lame and even more Lame.

They don't want us "older" folk there cause they are afraid a Town Hall will break out.

You're absolutely right. By the end of the year, if they don't have at least the second story quest out they're going to be losing a lot of members. If nothing comes out by the next time I need to renew my subscription, I'll go basic. It's not worth spending money on something that isn't going to bring you enjoyment.

In-game events would be much more fun it there was less lag, and even they aren't too fun. Now if they had special "event content only" that would be good. The EITC GMS were a bit exciting but what if they had mini sea monsters out while they were sailing? Sure it may be hard, but it would not only keep people busy but it would bring hope to people that have been waiting for content for a long time.

As usual, Sarah and I have an accord.

I applaud The Brethren Court and other in-game-groups who attempt to create fun activities for others. It's a lot of hard work and usually a tremendously good time for all involved.

As opposed to the Black Guard events: (My own interpretation, having attended quite a few)

(please note, all misspellings were completely intentional to demonstrate the [IMHO] pain of attending one of these events)

And I didn't even mention the mind-numbing lag. I just tried to capture a tiny portion of the (again, MHO) pandemonium that goes hand-in-hand with the role-playing events.

If you've never attended one, or if you find them enjoyable, then by all means attend and have a good time. I don't begrudge you that a bit.

But I, personally, would much prefer our devs working on content, not public relations.

It seems if all the people on here that don't enjoy the events would just stop attending them, it would solve the lag problem that some complain about . So that the ones that do appreciate the GM's interacting with us ( like me ) can have a bit of fun. I am not a "kiddy" and yet I still enjoy the events. I wish for more content just like everyone else , but , I am able to have fun with what we have.

I agree Constance - that's why I've stopped attending the role-playing events. Better to make room for those who do enjoy them. Fair winds mate! :)

The Enemy War The Black Guard Boss Battle
 

The black guard has been released in the enemy war it will only be out for a while after it passed you cannot fight him anymore he appears in port royal a & b servers

I cant do the info i did not fought him yet.

They can be fun and entertaining, but IMO do not last nearly long enough to warrant the difficulty in finding them to participate.
If your in town and just happen to be in the right place at the right time, very cool.
But it is a hassle to keep trying to find them to keep 're-participating' in the same 5-7 minute scenematic "rpg" event.

Is this not somewhat the same script/rpg event that took place a few months ago?

I do recommend all that have not done so to check it out at least once and absolutely try to have fun with it. :)

We can rant and rave all we want but theres always going to be that group of 5,000 little kids that think its fun to chase somebody in a black suit around. And Disney is only going to listen to them.

OMG! I read this and nearly FELL out of my chair! I did ONE RP event... talked directly with Captain Walter, even playing up the scene to the point that ol' Walter gave Eliza some kudos for 'her' words.

But, aye - every one else was in that paragraph right there. If they want true role-playing... DON'T ANNOUNCE these events! Just have occasional Black Guards showing up and wandering through towns. This mass pop-in and pop-out just causes mob scenes that make the 'health scare brown shirt scenes' look calm and organized.


And this LOOKS like the exact same thing from last time... maybe they are doing a 'refresher' before doing a new scene... but I agree that they need to start using other guilds, not just their inhouse.

I can say im disapointed,
Me and a couple of friends where sitting on andaba for 2 hours with nothing.

A bunch of my friends said that they only appeared on Abassa yesterday.

Disney is mostly a children atmosphere. If kids want to run around and chase those people around in black suits that what disney will let them have.

You know what now that you mention it, I know what I can do!!


I'll pose as young boy and whine and complain to disney that my mommy pays good money for your game and we are lacking content to keep us occupied and that these lame events are no fun!


Me from a Adult stand point:

I pay my sub and want my new content....paying $80 for a whole year and multiple that by how many people who play and subscribe each year....yea I say I have the right to complain and whine as a paying customer..

Ran into Thatch over on one of the B oceans today. The Black Guard showed, chased them around the island and then all the Host GM's tp'd away. Big whoop. Here's a couple screenies anyway.

It was the first time I saw a GM and Black Guards!

Thats what happened last time when I found them and joined in.
Chased them around and went through it about 4 separate times.

However some had a slightly different experience this go around.

ugh im just waiting for them to announce the new test server updates. they only send the newsletter after the 20th and they will release the updates there shortly. i wish i could test server access.
My guesses are that this month's updates could be:
lvl cap, gold cap, new weapons update
or new loot and inventory system
There better be trading coz they have been working on this loot and inventory system for about 1 year. the contents f it should also be that if u kill an enemy u u get an item to store and of course u should be able to do a lot ore things than fighting : fishing, mending fish nets,putting cargo into merchant ships which u can later loot. Wat about something like.... u have to guard merchant ships and when u take cargo u can also decide whether u keep the valuables and sell it later if u want or dump them into a cavern in ur pirate lair eh? and when u take cargo from those merchants to keep in their ships u can betray them and steal that cargo of theirs.

uh...we can't sell stuff...or trade...and your idea if it was cut should be half in idea's section and half of what you wanna rant on about :laughks2::laughks2::laughks2::laughks2:
