Image Shack banned from forum?
 

Are images hosted by image shack being filtered out? For me, the image url links are being filtered out and the lovely signatures and UP graphics are being displayed as broken code links with "*******" in the place of image shack portion of the url.

Is there a reason for this? Should I and others start looking for a new image host? Is anyone else seeing these broken links instead of the pictures?

My signature is doing it right now, though it used to work just fine, see it below?

Due to image shack's new advertisers displaying adult type ads and image shack's reluctance to remove these types of ads from their website, we've been forced to fliter that site. These forums are rated PG or Teen, not XXX or adults only. I'd suggest using http://xs.to/ or another hosting sites which doesn't display offensive matterial.

Oooh. You're right Batleth. Didn't really notice them, but that is cause for concern. I use imageshack on a lot of sites, even PG rated ones. Have to be more careful now.

Shame too since everyone was using that site. Lately, we've had quite a few complaints from users on our forums going there to view images posted. We tried to contact them to clean up their site, but they only removed specific ads and images from their site that was reported. This even took a couple of days for them to take action. Just not quite up to par to our standards.

Since so many image and video hosting sites seem to going with this trend, we'll be providing a list of acceptable hosts as soon as we've had a little more time creating the list.

Wow! I had no idea of this either. I'll have to note that on other sites I attend.

I've warned TTC in a site feedback thread, but considering it would effect 10,000's of images, I'm doing my best to hold of filtering image shack, photo bucket, tiny pics, and many other hosting sites. But since TTC is a G rated site, it has to adhere to a much higher standards than POF will have to. Expect in the next week or two that those site to be filtered on TTC.

Should we warn the VMK Forums about this?

I recommend tinypic.com. Always works for me. :)

I would use it but it can't resize pictures and when I use an editing program, the graphics get all screwed up. Does anyone know any other picture hosting sites that can resize pictures as they get hosted like imageshack could do??

Does photobucket also show porn contents?
I think they are ok as image hosting.

I mentioned it above as one of the popular hosting sites that do.

But if we remove the URL tags from the image link so it is just the image, would that still be advertising it since the link is not there?

Nope, but not enough people are doing that.

I thought we were only not allowed to use URLs that act as a link to the site? At least on TTC we could still post images. :\

yea, i notice that to...on cp forums it comes up as "**********" instead of imageshack.

i know that because i was trying to be a sigmaker on that forum using that site and it doesntt work...hold on!

On TTC and VMKF, yes. Since the smaller forums effect a whole lot less, we went ahead and filtered them. Look for TTC and VMKF to be completely filtered soon. It will effect 10,000's of posts on those forums.
