This would explain why outcast seems a little different. 4 stumps right in the same area. Kinda nice for leveling staff up as they don't hurt me as bad as the tormenta guys.

Ironhawk 07-30-2009 05:59 PM

When will they release the next chapter?

I believe that the 'magical' question for all of us Iron :D I'm with ya on that one... :)

MacIronhawk 07-30-2009 08:10 PM

At least this time they did a few bug fixes before putting the updates on open.

I read the news and it said that based on player feedback, they changed the body shapes to look more realistic. Are they sure they didn't get mixed up with, "Bring back the old pirate framerate"?

It won't let me log onto pirates. It will sit there for about two minutes "verifying Account ID and Game Access" and then it says there's a problem. I wish they would fix their launcher already.

musicalklutz 07-30-2009 08:26 PM

So... does anyone else feel that the male pirates just look... erm... pudgy and the female pirates now have... erm... triangle behinds and chests?

Last time I checked, my real... erm... behind is not shaped like a triangle.

swashbuckler II 07-30-2009 09:53 PM

On a side note: The groggy Meter circle thing now goes Counter Clockwise
Instead of clockwise
Nooooooo!!!! They fixed speed glitch!!!!!!

The Skirata Clan 07-30-2009 10:35 PM

Davy Keelhawk 07-30-2009 10:35 PM

Remember Sven Niscade showed if if that helps.

The Skirata Clan 07-30-2009 10:37 PM

Yes, just every one was talking about the shapes I thought they went and changed all of them.

swashbuckler II 07-30-2009 11:07 PM

Yes, now I'm 100% ok with people jumping in PvP. Now I can actually reach the darn flyboys.

^Also, yes it does Swash. It sounds a bit edited, though, almost like they softened the growl.

Stephen O'Malley 07-31-2009 01:00 AM

Just think.... Years from now...... We will all be POTC vets, and we'll make all the new players jealous because we're all veterans with the thin bodies! :laughks2:

LOL thats too funny....

Sven Niscadae 07-31-2009 01:44 AM

What everyone else sees on the screen must be completely different from what I see. Example: I remade Sven with the same (but new) body type. The NEW version of myself actually has some meat on his bones. The old version of me looks like he could use a Big Mac or two (see arms & legs)

I've looked at all of the new body types again and the only visible "gut" I see is on the two models of each gender that are depicted as being as such (by their selection icons). I think what Zep said in the test thread is right. We all have a very different ideal of what's "normal."

Honestly, I'm writing Disney a letter to ask them if I can be switched over to the new body type for Sven. It's a lot more ideal to me than the one I had to settle for when I made him the first time.

musicalklutz 07-31-2009 02:45 AM

I have a feeling that the making screen shows the bodies a little differently than when they are made...

Sven, your pirate that is made looks better than when you first choose them. Perhaps I'll check this out for the ladies as well. Unless it is possible I am the only one that sees the triangle areas?

The Skirata Clan 07-31-2009 05:07 AM

I just they don't change all the previously created pirates.

CaptainGreenGene 07-31-2009 02:14 PM

Cave Bats

Since the update cave bats were only located on the hill in King's Run but today I noticed that a few are present on Cuba beach. FYI

The Skirata Clan 07-31-2009 05:07 PM

At least Cuba as "more" enemies now.

Well I got a response from Disney and they said that it is not possible to switch the bodies around. Oh well! At least I'll have some fun with my new Sven and see where that one takes me.

Unfortunately, we cannot switch pirate bodies to the new bodies. This update applies to pirates that are newly created. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We hope this helps and look forward to seeing you in the Caribbean again soon!

I did reply back stating about how they changed the existing avatars back in February (where they changed the avatars to optimize framerates) and asked them what was different about this release where they could change an existing pirate.

Sven Osymthe 07-31-2009 07:19 PM

This just makes this update a little more pointless in my opinion..

I can see some of the bodies needed updates, but they could of done a better job. I'm not so sure about the female pirates, but i'm sure I read that they have triangle shaped parts now. But the males, the only ones that really needed an update are the bodybuilder like one, and the small (Sven Niscadae) like build.

I could see if our pirates all got turned into this new type, but the fact they aren't doing that sorta makes it a waste. It just makes our older pirates different from the new players.

If that is the approach they're gonna stick with, these new bodies should be added as extra types (as noted before), and not replace the current builds. Because as shown by Sven.. they aren't really replacing, but rather removing the old options.

Nelly Darkpaine 07-31-2009 08:02 PM

And you can tell from the HUGE amounts of 'body type' complaints on this site and other POTCO Sites that Disney is listening to its customers when making upgrades! (NOTE SARCASM!)

I mean, hardly a day goes by that one of us wasn't lamenting the odd shape of our pirates! And now, those of us who complained get to see the improvements in the pirates we complained about... err.. wait... nm. (Note more sarcasm)

I mean, who needs a higher notor cap, more content and more missions now that my new pirate can have a triangle derriere!?!? The EXCITEMENT!!!!

Seriously - why don't they listen? Meh.

Dr. Zeppers 07-31-2009 09:27 PM

It would have been nice of them to add new options instead of change the existing ones.

I think its ironic how often things are changed to be "realistic" in what is a fantasy/movie pirate world.

But progress is progress!
Patiently waiting (as best I can be)

Last time they redid the framerate from the original body types but this time there are new body types with a NEW framerate. As in, it's probably impossible for them to change the original body types to the new body types because the framerate is completely different. Maybe the different framerates make it impossible for them to switch body types.

So... the old body types stay in the game. If they couldn't switch us from the old body types to the new body types then why didn't they just make them new options for body types? Such a waste.

Kaionai 08-01-2009 08:20 AM

Ok so I can see so far that month of July has had alot of progress for POTCO but here it is August and if the Revive system is there BIG UPDATE...

WOW Big D just WOW.....You really are havin some type of behind the scene's issue we dunno about....Is the POTCO going to be the next PIXAR story??? I HOPE NOT!!!

JM Ohara 08-01-2009 03:49 PM

Revive is hilarious. I'm really lovin that. But the new bodies. Ugh! People do not look like that! Look at them from the side too and you'll see what I mean. The guys are all but one wide side to side but flat front to back. Where in the world are the muscular pirates? Come on D! Real pirates would have been in top shape from sailing, slinging swords, and all the other piratey things they do for a workout. :degen: Methinks skinny little stick pirates and twinkie eatin pirates were rare but that's what we get to pick from? No more jock mold with the actual pirate muscles? No more refrigerator size guys with the itty bitty heads? Well drat!

And the girls... *sigh... My favorite girl body is gone. I'm sorry but all women do NOT have huge hips D! There's not a good lookin girl in the bunch now. What, are only funny lookin girls pirates?

Makes me very glad I made my last guy pirate just 2 days before the change. My current pirates are permanant. No deletes, not happening. I like my old body team. So me, I'm headin to the Faithful Bride to raise a toast to the end of the era of good lookin pirates! Anyone who wants to is welcome to join me.:buds:

Kaionai 08-01-2009 04:37 PM

I really dunno why people are complaining about the body types I don't see a diffrence...

Sven Osymthe 08-01-2009 04:48 PM

If you look at them, you'll see they look a little larger compared to before. They replaced the old versions with ones that have larger arms, legs, etc. And the girls apparently have triangular shaped bodies.

Plus, on top of that. They wasted time which could of been used on other things, replacing bodies that were good enough to get us this far in the game doesn't make that much sense.

Dr. Zeppers 08-01-2009 07:37 PM

Well I noticed that the "strong" body builder type of pirate, has alot more 'meat' on his midsection. All those abs we worked on as pirates, and Disney just packed the pounds back on. ;)

Personally, I see this as a fantasy game, in a fantasy world. And I prefer my pirate to be a fantasy superhero looking like strong man, not an average joe. OH well, "midwest" average Joe apparently wins out. Being in an area where physical fitness is a focus of the majority of the population, I actually saw these changes as being "less" realistic. Granted, I never used the super skinny pirate models.

JM Ohara 08-02-2009 06:09 PM

Goin down Sven's road, this is the third male body type, both old and new.

This is Doc Hardy, made just 2 days before the body type changes.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2238http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2239http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2240

The create screen version of the same body made today.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2242http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2241http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2243

The in game look of the same new body.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2246http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2245http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2244

Now maybe it's just me but I see clear differences between Doc and the new version of his body. First off, Doc has muscles, the new one is just kinda marshmellowy to me. Or maybe I mean thinner. I dunno, he just doesn't look built like Doc does. His legs are way bigger to me too. And the new guy most decidedly has more junk in the trunk if ya get my drift. It just looks wrong to me.

Lest you think it's just the guys, I present Trynity.

Made about a week before the change, my girl Trynity.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2247http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2248http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2249

The new create screen version of that body. (I refuse to think of the new body in any way related to my girl.)

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2250http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2251http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2252

In game, or jail anyway of the same new body.

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2255http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2254http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...pictureid=2253

Yes, the girls are all the exact same third body. You can see here the very clear differences between Trynity and the new girl. The new girl is very hippy. You can also clearly see that the new girl does indeed have triangular parts as referred to in several previous posts. Like the guy body the new girl also has way more junk in the trunk.

I don't care which is more real. I like Trynity's body the way it is. I've gotten on board with Zep though. The new bodies shouldn't have replaced the old, just been added to the options. Why should there be only 5 to pick from any how?

Well anyway the point of this was to illustrate the differences in the body types between the old and new body types that I have as my own pirates. I'm not making anyone else's judgments, but I did want to show that there are major differences, at least with the girls. Better or worse, that's up to you.

This is what I refer to as the midwest build, people in general are stockier throughout. West coasters who go to the gym every day, look like the old strong pirate model.

Apparently pirates who likely lived on meager amounts of food on ships for weeks/months at a time, had problems with scurvy and other issues caused by diet deficiencies had no problem keeping meat on their bones, gotta love realism. </sarcasm>

Kaionai 08-03-2009 08:18 AM

ok yea i see it now...CHUNKY!!!!:degen::degen::degen:
