Jack Swordfish 07-20-2009 01:30 PM

Way to go! :jackhat:

Eliza Creststeel 07-20-2009 01:31 PM

Mate, they appear most often East of Kingshead. Along with the lethal Death Omen.

cnnoi33 07-20-2009 03:21 PM

Its impossible?! I see it a lot .

Sven Osymthe 07-20-2009 05:41 PM

Congrats on finding it :)

musicalklutz 07-20-2009 07:23 PM

Good job mate :)

edwardburnskull 07-24-2009 03:07 PM

I wouldn't call it rare. powerful? yes. I think the juggy and death omen are more rare. They still can be found though.

JM Ohara 07-24-2009 03:54 PM

I think mate that it depends on where you're looking. I frequent the area between PDF and Kingshead. Behemoths are everywhere over there. Dreadnoughts and Death Omens as well. Juggernauts are what I've rarely seen, but I did sink 2 of them yesterday. I think it just all depends on where ya look.

lethal death omen? i never thought that i got maxed round shot and with open fire i can sink a warlord in one board side
so may the term "lethal" be used lightly and to add to that i was beside a death omen with no take cover on my war galleon and it barely did 500 damage to me

well congrats on finding it dog

Davy Keelhawk 07-24-2009 05:05 PM

well heres a rare ship for ya:

You're no fun at all.

Stephen O'Malley 07-24-2009 10:15 PM

I think that the Behemoth is definitely the most powerful of all ships, though it isn't quite rare (even with take cover, the cannoneers firing explosives took out nearly 6000 health!). Same thing with the Death Omen (not quite as powerful), although I am finding it rather difficult to spot the Juggernaut this time around.

Dr. Zeppers 07-24-2009 10:18 PM

The trick to these ships I believe is "Keep your distance". Explosive isnt as long range as standard broadsides, so when you battle these ships, try to stay close enough to attack, yet far enough to avoid explosive rounds. It has appeared to me that all these ships have increased in numbers. When they were first added, they were elusive/rare, you had to search for them. Now I seem to have to avoid Death Omens on a regular basis (while attacking other nearby enemies). I do see the Jugg somewhat regularly as well. Most of these ships I usually see out between KH and Padres and Outcast, in the waters a bit further from the rest O the islands.

CarribeanThunder 07-24-2009 11:09 PM

Actually, the story about the Behemoths hanging around Kingshead is because Disney decided they'd make them easier to find. Them and the Death Omen. And Zeppers, I'm more of a dare devil to hang close to the Behemoths, though not usually on my War Sloop, not much of a tank like my War Frigate ( Shadow Cobra, guilty as charged :P ) to deal with a Behemoth up close, but I do it from time to time. To dodge the Explosives, just look closely into the space between you and Behemoth. You should just BARELY see some black dots. That's when you use Take Cover. And I think the Juggernaut is stronger than Behemoths ( again, my opinion, but hey... ). Do Close Combat Behemoth Battles ONLY when it's in daylight. Nighttime battles make it hard to see the Explosive, so you'd most likely sink if your close.

Death Omen, on the other hand, use blue shots, so it's easier to see in night. Daylight SLIGHTLY camouflages the Thunderbolts and Fury if your camera is looking into the sky.

Juggernauts are still rare, and found in the same places.

Sounds like you need to change your graphics option to OpenGL. It sounds like you're on DirectX and any "fire" looks black on your video card. If you switch over to OpenGL, you should be able to see the Explosives (and your Flaming Skull will be normal as well).

PirateMaster 07-25-2009 01:13 AM

EITC Behemoths aren't rare. If your looking for a rare ship go to the west or Outcast Isle, there you'll maybe find an EITC Juggernaut. But idk if they still spawn around there since that was the first and only time I've ever seen a Juggie.

1: I have OpenLG.
2: I said the Explosives are hard to see at night, not the Firebrand.
3: I know DirectX causes Firebrand/Flaming Skull/etc. to look black.
4: I meant the cannon, not when it explodes.

I was basically saying, that when a Behemoth shoots an Explosive Shot, it is almost camouflaged in the night. Do you understand what I meant now?

Oh, and PirateMaster, that is not the only place they spawn. Yes, in Uncharted Waters, but where they appear is always random. You might go to one spot, find nothing there, go somewhere else, and return to the first spot to find a Juggernaut ( happened to me ).

My bad. I sit corrected. Just noticed that explosives don't even leave a bluish trail behind them like the Round Shot. Are you using the Hardware Gamma feature at all? Brightening up the screen may help although I just tested it out and yeah, you can't really see them coming. Possibly why close-combat with an Explosive-wielding ship isn't the most optimal strategy. I get in close on occasion but those... eh, not for me. Kudos to you for such death defying maneuvers though.

Well, actually, I meant close-combat at night is dangerous. At day, it's better.
Yes, I've tried the Gamma. I don't work well with it lol. But thanks for the suggestion.

ex8404 08-05-2009 05:18 PM

Behemoths...not so rare and pretty easy to take out actually. I have done it in a light sloop before. Took forever but it can be done. The trick? Just stay in front of it, always moving in a serpentine pattern alternating between left and right broadsides. Remember not to let it get close and if it tries to turn on you, full sail around to the front again.

Anyway...It works for me on pretty much any Galleon. Not so effective against Frigates...

Stay behind the Frigates ;)

Eliza Creststeel 08-05-2009 06:36 PM

Galleons have weaker front armor and have no front guns, that's why that strategy works. Frigates, are the opposite. Forward-firing guns and strong forward armor.

nephalauxia 12-19-2009 10:16 PM
