like if you just sunk a juggernaut but it only gave you a cargo crate

and too keep space on your ship you could dump that crate and go to get some royal chests

The reason for my answer is simple. We earned the cargo through sinking enemy ships, why shouldn't we be able to dump it?

Logically, if pirates pulled a crate full of junk aboard, they'd toss it - but there does need to be some random results here.

If you don't want creates, gotta' take the bigger risks.

I agree with Mac.. we are sinking the ships, why not be able to dump out what we don't want?

Might as well dump the crates along with some pirates spreadin' rumors of mutiny!

I haven't gotten to the point of royals just yet as mostly I sail alone, but it would be nice to dump the crates in favor of the chests.

Now that I've been at maximum gold for a while, I guess I really don't care what's in the cargo hold anymore, unless it's limes and ice and well...

Upon further thought, the longer you stay out by the big ships, the higher the chance (theoretically...lol) of getting sunk and getting nothing for your efforts. Again, theoretically, as we all have been out on long ship sinking runs without getting sunk. My best is 132 ships in a single solo run.

I don't think it would interfere with either--it could just as well make gold sense thingie more useful, as, should it fail, you don't have to dock. The retries would have more Gold value anyways.

That would be a good idea, but it kind of ruins the thrill in sailing. I mean, if you go searching and all you find are crates, it makes it even more exciting when you actually find a royal chest. If you just keep dumping them, sure, it'll make some more money, but it won't be as fun.

I just hate it when I come back with all cargo crates!! I really just want treasure chests!! ( More Gold ) ;)

Yes, the test server currently has a feature under review, that will basically swap cargo for the most valuable once your cargo is full. It is automatic, not a choice of those sailing.
