FATHER'S DAY Quest, Consolidated

I can see that there is going to be a BUNCH of posts about the Father's Day Quest.

Rather than have them scattered all over the forum, I have started a post here, under quests.

IT appears that Disney has done another gaff. If you have a pirate that did the quest last year, that pirate cannot do it this year. Only Pirates that DID NOT already do the quest can do it this year. They didn't reset the quest for anyone who already did it.

There are posts alreaddy written about this in at least a couple of other threads, and as more people try it, there will be more posts. Just trying to keep them all together and in the proper forum.

Good idea Basil. When I first read the title, I thought the quest itself was shorter. Brain's not exactly working at 8 in the am.

It doesnt really effect me because I only did the quest last year with swashbuckler II and hes totally mastered now.

Posted a nice comment in the Grog Blog. I've found that if you wrap a complaint in a pile of sugar - they will actually post it sometimes.

Simply stated, like some others that Teague is an intriguing character and Eliza enjoyed helping Jack and him LAST year. But, added - despite the fact Eliza CAN'T help again THIS YEAR - she'll be helping friends and guildmates complete the quest and hopes maybe she can meet Teague in some future quests.

Was really looking forward to that 2x - I could have finished off grenades this weekend. Been lazy and putting off and putting it off...

The Count 06-17-2009 01:14 PM

I started a new pirate and guess what ITS STILL THE SAME and im not paying just to do this again so yet again disney has wasted another day to give us new content

MacIronhawk 06-17-2009 05:22 PM

I planned on getting my grenades all the way up to level 22 today because of the quest. It looks like that won't be happening.

Just another disappointment from Disney.

Pirates just posted an update on the website in the Grog Blog (under the Father's Day quest news item) about this:

Avast ye Pirates! We're aware of an issue with this quest where players that completed it last year are not able to complete it this year - this is a bug and we're working to fix it. Another issue is the x2 Rep reward - the icon is not appearing for some players that have completed the quest. To see how much x2 rep time you have, just type the following in your chat window: /x2

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, again we're working quickly to fix these problems as soon as possible.

Dr. Zeppers 06-17-2009 06:22 PM

Hopefully they get it fixed quickly, the quest (tested on another pirate) is exactly the same as last year.

Eliza Creststeel 06-17-2009 06:55 PM

Wow!

Hats off to Disney, just for responding so quick. Though, maybe next time - THEY'LL TEST something like this first.

Still, its nice to see that they want to fix it.

The Commodore 06-17-2009 07:01 PM

I'm happy they added it in. Nice to see them fix an issue quickly.

MacIronhawk 06-17-2009 07:03 PM

I like the quick reply. Hopefully they'll have it fixed by the end of the day or tomorrow morning.

Yea, but this is only because of the flak they just took for the removal of link accounts - they already know their in deep with the community on that one...

Guess we'll see if they have to "extend" the time depending when they get it fixed ;)

Jason Swordfish 06-17-2009 10:49 PM

Perhaps this has been answered already, or maybe I missed something.... But I have to ask, when it says temporary double rep. What does that mean? 2 hours, maybe 3? Is that until I logoff? Please does anyone have the answer.

Thank you

Basil Dreadflint 06-17-2009 11:31 PM

You get double rep for 3 hours of INGAME time.. It holds when you are logged out.

Jason Swordfish 06-17-2009 11:46 PM

Basil, thank you. 3 hours is better than nothing, and only counts when I am logged in. Maybe I can finally level grenades. I am the only level 40 with level 10 grenades in existence. HEHE!

Erich Uchiha 06-18-2009 12:35 AM

I hope big D fixes this by tommorow morning.

No, you're not. I know several and even met a guy leveling his staff on Kingshead who was level 40 with only level 1 in grenades. I didn't even think that was possible until I saw it with my own eyes.

davy redflint 06-18-2009 12:50 PM

jack tell me ....i have nothing for you lol.....not fix yet

Eliza Creststeel 06-18-2009 12:54 PM

Jason,

Don't feel down, mate. Eliza has been sailing these waters since January of 2008 and just now got Grenades 20. Admittingly, once I got 17 (for the large pouch) I just kinda' stopped working on it.

Sarah 06-18-2009 04:49 PM

It's Working Now! ;) Got it started on all my pirates, even the ones that did it last year.

MacIronhawk 06-18-2009 06:57 PM

Wait, so is it working now? I just asked Giladoga and it's not working.
EDIT: Oops, wrong person and island.

Now that it's working it looks like I can finally get my grenades up a bit.

Eliza Creststeel 06-18-2009 07:44 PM

If they fixed it - please let Disney know how much we appreciate it. I'm sure all they hear most of the time is whining and complaining - might motivate them to do more.

Jack Swordfish 06-19-2009 01:50 PM

Hmmm

I got this message when I emailed Pirates Support:

"The Father's Day Quest starts June 17 and will be available through Father's Day, June 21, so you will need to finish the quest during that period of time.

Hope to see you in the Caribbean soon!

I don't know if that means we can or can not finish it if we're waiting for the "magical" update and don't finish part of it (I chose not to bribe John Bronze just yet). Just thought I might post it.

Basil Dreadflint 06-19-2009 05:42 PM

It does seem to imply that you must "Finish" the quest by the end of June 21. It wasn't that way last year tho. You could just take the quest, then hold it and finish later.

Not sure now what to do. I think I'll finish the quest on those that can still earn rep , and take my chances with those that can't. Won't matter for them anyways.

Deadeye Liz 06-21-2009 01:37 AM

I was able to do this quest twice with LizVicious. Once on the 17th, and again on the 18th. However, I haven't been able to start it a second time with any other pirate. Was it a fluke that I was able to do that? Just wondering.

They reset everyones account or something so that those that had done it previously could do it again. That allowed you to do it a second time.

Deadeye Liz 06-21-2009 02:19 AM

That makes sense! Thanks Zeppers

Basil Dreadflint 06-22-2009 04:44 PM

I just went in game to test and verify.

If you took the Fathers Day quest, but did not finish it, you still have it available.

There was some confusion about this. Disney's one message said that you had to finish the quest by last night.

I took the quest from Jack on all four of my fully mastered pirates, and never did the next step of going to see Giladoga. I just waited for the time to expire. Now all of them still have the quest listed in the journal. It appears that I can hold the quest, at least for now, and hope that Disney gives us a Notoriety cap increase. That way, as soon as the caps are raised, I can do the quest and get 2X rep right away.

This should answer some of the questions that a few have asked.

combatlizzy 06-22-2009 05:24 PM

Well being that I didn't do quest last year...it was available for my pirates, but I was wondering why everyone didn't have the "MARK" beside their names. Thought maybe people just didn't know about the quest. As a knowlegable Founder pirate told me...just don't go AFK during the 3 hours.....

edwardburnskull 06-23-2009 07:26 PM
