Go Incognito as a Stowaway June 11, 2009
http://a.disney.go.com/pirates/onlin...vider_line.gif
The EITC has been conducting more patrols and looking for Pirates responsible for sinking EITC ships in the Caribbean. Those patrols have made the waters around the islands a bit more hazardous. Pirates trying to avoid a run-in with the EITC are now being smuggled on ships by becoming Stowaways. Learn how to be a Stowaway.

Eliza Creststeel 06-12-2009 05:51 PM

Hmmm...

Does that explain the higher presence of EITC ships around PDF and Kingshead? Or just another attempt to skirt the issue of nothing new?

Cannonfury 06-12-2009 06:07 PM

wow such an amazing news update, good job Disney -_-

Your Gladiator 06-12-2009 06:07 PM

Eric Daggerskull 06-12-2009 06:35 PM

Liz Fireburn 06-12-2009 06:44 PM

Woah good thing they told us this!.....
I for one never would of been able to figure it out on my own -_-

mlratto 06-12-2009 06:49 PM

stowaways...i believe we've hit an all time low for updates. This one barely beat out "fixed several bugs" for the lamest update to date.

Stephen O'Malley 06-12-2009 07:59 PM

YAY! Another advertisement for something we already know about!

Juliana Maria 06-12-2009 08:00 PM

Now, for your next trick...

Can you reply to the next update/news item in either a Haiku or a Limerick??

:laughks2:

Basil Dreadflint 06-12-2009 08:21 PM

Thank-you all for saying these things before I could!

Such a sarcastic group of pirates we be. Jack would be proud of us all!!!

MacIronhawk 06-12-2009 08:27 PM

I won't be sarcastic when I say that this was a big waste of time. I can see why they put this in the players guide but why announce it?

Dr. Zeppers 06-12-2009 09:28 PM

I think the stowaway feature should allow access to islands other than the 3 main islands. Dont have much use for it otherwise myself.

Basil Dreadflint 06-12-2009 09:38 PM

This note in the game does explain why there has been lots more EITC ship activity around PDF. They put in the stowaway 'feature', and no one was using it. So, They put all the DO's, the Dread's and the other big ships around PDF to force low level pirates to use the stowaway feature to get from island to island.

Not bad enough trying to force players to buy more accounts so that the family can play, i.e. removing tabbed accounts, but now they are trying to get us to pay more ingame gold to go from island to island. Just another money grab, and this time not even real money!

**Gonna start an ingame taxi service. I'll take you from PDF to PR or Tortuga for HALF the gold those dockworkers charge. I'll consider other islands, and even let you shoot a cannon and earn some rep while we're at it.**
** Where do I apply for a commercial license?** Maybe Elizabeth has the forms there in the Governor's Mansion?**

swashbuckler II 06-12-2009 10:26 PM

hmm lets see...

Updates > News "storys"

wmah 06-12-2009 11:05 PM

I didn't care for the stowaway either and if I did like it the price is way too cheap. This one gives basic members a teleport to padres. And at $200 with all the gold they probably have because they can't spend it on anything else it is just a drop in the bucket for them. The price should have been more like $1000 for Port Royal, 500 for Cuba cause nothing ever happens there, 2000 for Padres and 3000 for Tortuga cause that is where they all like to hang out.

I also see they neglected to say the real reason pirates are avoiding the eitc. That reason is cause they can't log in as a family and play together.

Chris 06-13-2009 01:02 AM

/me cries

All i want is a noto cap, story quest extension, and an inventory is that so much to ask.

When I was a young pirate... before I was in a guild... before I had in-game friends to teleport to, I was sailing to Cuba all of the time for quests (before I got its totem). And this was when Cuba was a lot farther away from Port Royal (which I wish was still the case, way too close nowadays).

I think some of us need to think way back to when we were first starting out... when we didn't have access to teleport to each island or knew anyone that could. What? Was I the only one?

Yes, Disney has catering to the newer players lately. Some of these updates, IMO, are pretty decent considering who they were aiming for (a few things I wish I had when I was starting out). We (as in those of us here on POF being overly sarcastic with every "meaningless" update/news) aren't the only ones playing this game. It's not about us all of the time.

Eliza Creststeel 06-13-2009 03:01 AM

Hey! I love the Taxi idea... LOL

Botuu 06-13-2009 03:04 AM

I agree completely with Sven. When I first read the release notes on these latest updates I noticed that they talked about making the game experience flow better at the lower levels, including the quests for the first three members of the Pearl crew. I wanted to see what they did, so I started a new pirate on test and ran her through Carver, Greer, and Cutts. The quests flowed together much better in my opinion. I really enjoyed playing it. I even found that they added a new boss, an EITC thug boss in the Thieves' Den. You have to defeat him as part of the Carver quest.

Raikel 06-13-2009 03:26 AM

This is rather much like the Jolly Roger thing, I thought it actually meant we were going to meet him, and I was prepared to see him and all. But it was just another thing that tells us something we already know.

lostmymarbles 06-13-2009 07:06 AM

lol.. Basil.. you've been looking for a legitimate reason to hang out on Port Royal, Abassa server.. now you got it.

I can see it.. a guild enterprise... hanging out next to the dockworker and underbidding him.

I think we should riot personally, and report Pirates for Computer abuse. I mean, they make these dockworkers work 24/7 and even with the money they make, they are getting nowhere. Let there be war!!

Jack Sharkbane 06-14-2009 01:44 AM

LOL very funny everyone... as to the stowaway thing?

No. no, no, nononononononononono NO. I tried it. they dont show you stowing away, going incognito, nothing. I mean, if your stowing away, you'd also be spying right? revenge on eitc- HA! more like cheap way for pirates to spend time. and yes, war would be Ideal... and just so its quick...

SEND IN THE EVIL BUNNY!!!!

(yeah, you know who I'm talkin' about)

That just made me think of the way stow away should be,
instead of charging for the ride the stow away pirate would catch a ride on a navy or eitc ship and have to fight them to stay alive the whole trip. And then of coarse they would not be able to take control of the helm and there would also be the risk that one of us pirates out there could actually sink the ship the stow away is on.

John Walker 06-14-2009 10:50 PM

Why would we pay to tp, when we already can, is it a thing for new ppl who can't tp? Cuz if not, that was a dumb addition to the game, you guys could be so much more creative with Pirates, but u guys just finds new ways to hold it back from what it could be, admins are lame sometimes.

The Count 06-15-2009 01:30 PM

WOW i guess those really powerful cannons cant help us out of this situation

i feel sorry for the noobs how are just trying to go to PDF

Jack Swordfish 06-16-2009 10:13 PM

Stowing away in a cargo crate

If you look at the picture, the pirate is jumping into a cargo crate. That being said, you really can't do all of what you said above when you're packed into a cargo crate, hoping the ship you're on doesn't sink :jackhat:

Back when I started out, I remember that when you went off from Padres Del Fuego, trying to get to Port Royal, there was a long fleet of EITC and Navy War ships blocking your way. You had to go real fast to get past them, and they would fire at you :7c810c6517: :sadmh9:

I could understand how it might of helped us back in the earlier days, but now it seems a bit easy to just teleport to the Spanish Island from Tortuga and sail to Padres Del Fuego from there. :sailr:

But I'll keep reading for that "Big Update" :bookishfj7:
