For those with linked accounts...
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
On test, the arrows that allow me to toggle between my accounts are gone. They were there a couple days ago, and they are still there on open. Is this a mistake, or is this Disney's way of closing that loophole? If this has already been posted about please let me know :) |
Well that sure is a bummer, they are gone.
That really bites. Strange enough as well I didnt even see an update downloaded to turn them off. Hoping its just a glitch that will be fixed.. really really hoping. |
I hope so too. I player-friended all of my friends on open with only one account, because its the only one I really log into. Transferring all of those is not going to be fun.

i noticed that also . i just assume thats becuase its test and they do things like with no explaination ....if anyone gets any info on this please give any on this ......i will try to find out also ..........

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but this one really bugs me. If they meant to do this, I'm going to be seriously upset.
Because of the way our accounts are set up, if this goes to open it will mean that, in spite of having 2 unlimited accounts: * My kids will not able to play with each other * My husband and I will not be able to play our original pirates (GM and co-gm of our guild) at the same time. * We will also not be able to play our other pirates, paired up in our sister guilds, at the same time. IMO, if done purposely, this is a really bad change. |

Frankly, if this is a permanent "feature" I will be cancelling my subscription. I can barely justify paying for the game for so long with no new content. Granted, it doesnt happen often, but I really enjoy being able to play with my son. There is no way I will pay for a second account so we can play together once or twice a month.

Yea I mean for me since I am the only one who plays in my house hold it wasnt much of a deal but this really does stink. If its purposeful then its for the money, because I know alot of parents and their kids are on the same account and link to play at the same time.

Its amazing . is it me or is Disney trying to make sure that everyone is going to get mad in someway or another and we all going to cancell our accoutns someway or another....not comming out with what's important to us.......and taken away the link option to force us to pay for each things..... It sure sounds like they are really trying to make us really mad ....LoL.
Well what ever they do ...i dont care...i will be here till the day they shut down each and ever server ...My family and i will keep our 4 accounts no matter what ....and i will pay for the 4 accounts yearly no matter what it will take .....i could not care less.....Disney will not get the best of me....LoL.....thats just me . |
:piratewheelgo2: ahoy mates, when beta went to testing i was having trouble with the open chat on my Founder pirate so i linked a new acct as the "Adult" then edited the founder pirate acct. to open chat...it worked well except that i had to log in under the new adult acct (still do to keep the chat enabled). That pirate acct WAS blue unlimited and has now (in test) become limited...bummer since that pirate was my leading pirate. Well since i found that out i logout to login under my test "Founder" pirate and noticed i couldnt go back to the linked acct...the arrows at dockside were gone. But i could scroll thru my linked accts going from left to right..... OK to explain better..i have 4 linked accts. and used to be able to scroll thru the accts from logging in under the acct that is the farthest right..then it lets you scroll thru linked accts from right to left. If you login to your pirate that is the furthest to the left of your linked accts you will not be able to click arrows to go right...i hope this is understandable and helpful..lol It basically stinks since now my test pirate founder is like level 7 lol and i might as well say goodbye to my other pirates on test. :piratear:

Well if this is intentional or accidental, when this hits open (and if this "update" goes along with it), Id probably go visit live chat support and find it out for myself.

Ok...decided to double check this. They still do have annual membership. Seems that the bugs and glitches arent just in the game. They ventured into the piratesonline.com website too and took away the annual option for a while. I'm very glad to see that it is back.
Sorry that I didnt get back with this till now. Too many irons in the fire here at home. |

Live Chat
I was on live chat about this issue. What little she could tell me is this isn't planned to go to the live server. The linked accounts on test we stopped in order to stop the abuse of those that weren't invited from accessing test through friends accounts.
Zep your account was created when they opened the doors to everyone/anyone. That would be considered an invite? |
Just been told by POTC Live Chat that the POTC billing system is down, Basic Access only until the maintaince is completed.

The update is now on open, the linked account change DID get applied to open "for security reasons".

Yes, the linked account ability to choose your pirate is now GONE on open. The release notes say that is for "Security reasons".
I won't say what reasons I think they did this. |
Well its not the first time Disney staff have lied to us.
My annual account will not be renewed. No more of my money for Disney, they dont deserve it, they have effectively killed the game by making changes noone wants or cares for, and cutting off access to families. Why would anyone want to pay for an account that "JR" is going to play a couple hours a week with their parents. Security reasons, sheesh, money grubbing reasons are more likely, it appears they have a mentaliy challenged individual guiding POTCOs development and management. The game is sliding into obscurity and lack of paid membership, not because people are using linked accounts to get around it, but because they keep eliminating the features that make the game appealing to families. |
We're canceling both of our accounts today. We were going to try to keep them and see what came out, but this ruins the way we play, and I'm tired of what they are doing to those who have played so long.

My account turned back to basic this past week - and I was planning on renewing today... or right now.
I'm glad I decided to check this thread first. I will NOT be renewing my account. Security my butt. |

I have submitted a complaint from both accounts, posted on the grog blog, and posted under current news. I made sure to emphasize that I will NOT be renewing my subscription unless this "update" is reversed.

I made a call and spoke with a nice customer service agent - a second tier Im guessing since I asked to be transferred to someone else beyond the initial call answerer.
I explained that many of us play with family members, and us not being able to access the accounts limits WHO can play with WHO. Our two linked work as follows: All the males are on one account, all the gals on another - so, if I want to play with my other half, I can. If I want to play with my daughter, I could. If we wanted to log on as our high and low levels to assist each other, we could have. Now.. we are limited to one pirate from each account, which severely limits our play overall. I think after discussion, it was more clear how this affected the GOOD game players even moreso than the troublemakers. When someone gets banned, they create a basic 'disposable' avatar to use till their suspension is up. Why not make a design where linked accounts be paid by the same person? Or same household? That way, families are not penalized, while those linking accounts for the purpose of causing trouble are not allowed to do so. Perhaps only accounts in good standing - no regular bans, etc.. are allowed. There are so many better options than an outright stop to linked accounts. Im truly bummed over this one. |
