Age of Empires
Who here has EOE. Its awsome! There is even a level with pirates, though that is only in the third one. Who here likes it?:swordpirate: :swordpirate:
I've played the first two....but not the third. Definitely a good game.
Love it
Play it and still loving it. When things are slow here I tend to backtrack to other games I've played and play them a bit more.
I have the first sencond and thrid its awesome i luv the game.
I've never actually played the game... but I watched my friend's brother play before. It looks pretty fun. I really should invest and check it out, I'm always up for a new game :)
I played the first two for 7 years... have a 388 / 28 - Win / Loss in my last year playing 8 man Free-For-Alls (Which usually ended up being 7 vs 1... me :) ). Most play 1 vs 1 or 1 team vs 1 team... I liked the challenge :)
Then Age Of Myth came out and I lost interest... I didn't like the restrictions of Home Bases and the ever getting wierd extra powers of soliders and mythical creatures... so I stopped playing... Did try playing AOE3 after a few years off... but it was more for fun and only for about 4 months (once again - they had that whole restriction of Bases... and when trying to play 8 man FFA you need more than just one base...) So now I play Pirates :D |
I love the second. My brother loves the third (as do I, though he's the one who plays it). I'm thinking that if they had much of AOE2 in the format of AOE3 (with certain things only, like the multiple units being built at a time, some units being able to build other units and or buildings, etc), it'd be the greatest thing since... Pirates of the Caribbean! (Sorry, just had to use something you'd understand.)
If anyone here has an ESO account for AOE3, pm me and we can trade account names for friend lists. |

I actually think that AOE2 had decent graphics, though yes, that'd be pretty sweet. If they implemented things like the trickles introduced in the AOE3 expansions, among other things, then yes, such a game would be sweeter.
AOE3 was much different in the ways of difference between civilizations than AOE2. Some of the second doesn't make much sense tech-wise. As well, the Huns only collectively have an 8-year going, so they don't make too much sense either (Their unique unit should be more like the Oprichnik in the third I think--a seperate attack for seige like the units in the third would make it quite viable. Otherwise, the Tarkaan is quite expensive and not worth a Paladin.) |
They should make AOE4 based on the late 19th and 20th centuries. It could continue the Black family story. Anyone have any other ideas for AOE4?
WWI and WWII as an age each (who knows for the names though), a Nuclear Age? the modern age? It's kinda tricky as it all rolls into modern happenings, and is quite condensed, especially concerning the first 2 games. Empire Earth was decent with the units and all, though that only had 3 collective periods with 5 civs for each of those periods. I'm thinking that nuclear units should not be something you can build, because any attempt by Empire Earth to make atomic weapons was cheesy. As well, as far as I know, there have only been two bombings, so eh. It could be something that you build up, and be like some sort of score or something.
I have a million more ideas of a kind concerning Age of Empires: I'd probably like to make my own version some day. |
You could probably do WWI easy enough - most units would still be gound based - tanks and smaller guns would be the seige types, aircraft did really play a role until later in the war (and even then nothing like WWII) so these could be basic for all types of groups...
It would be nifty to see :) |
What if they made AOE 4 for the 360 or Wii. I mean, they did with Civilization 5!
I dont get the AOE3 scenario editor I mean when I start my own scernario the enemy does nothing what so ever

For example, you send your army to attack "X" and when it gets attacked - a "trigger" there forces the computer to start pumping out soliders. Another trigger at location "Y" may make the computer start an advance to attack your armies (if you've given him an army to atack with :) ) There are basically two builders - the Multiplayer Builder and the Scenario Builder. It sounds like you built the Multiplayer Builder (which then you have to play the map in Multiplayer Mode for the computer to use the map - otherwise the towns will just sit "empty"). You can play these and the computer will use them if you play the maps in Multiplayer (just choose all computer players - and make sure each as a Town Centre, enough food, wood, stone and gold to start with and three Villagers so he can get working). |

ya i have all 3 kinda play online and its fun and detailed
Is it possible to make a campaign with a cutscene in the editor?
Probably: I've seen quite the scenarios on ESO. You could practically make a movie if you wanted to.
but how do you make one?
Phooey on AoE and it's sequels, I want the ultimate game:
Age of Bunnies Failing that, maybe Elmer's game, WabbitCwaft -ekb- |

I know what you mean! I have EE2 and agree that it is stupid that when you fire Nukes, it dosen't even destroy one large building sometimes. I was doing a lvl in the american campaign and I kept launching Nukes at a building and it never blew up. In real life, the can destroy miles of land. I think I was soposed to capture the building or something. I forget because because I dont play Empire Earth any more so, eh. It would be just as cheasy in AOE 4 and it would be a decline in the most historicaly accurate game! I rarely play it anymore though, usually only the campaign or multiplayer; guess wat game I play now! :SkullBullet1: Bet ye cant guess maytey!:pirate_smiley_capta |
EE2 also has the space "water," cheesily done as well. Some of the stuff in the future though was cool, like the secret police (can't recall if that was specific to a campaign, or in the first EE).
Thinking of the space has brought to mind an interesting idea: what if you played on a globe? The standard sky view would apply, though the thing would rotate: it'd b the only true effective way to get space items in there. Still, we're talking about Age of Empires, which, being realistic, only delves in what has already happened (and not in what probably won't). Hey Teach, I can PM you my brother's account name if you want. You could play each other sometime. |

Age of Empires is great! I still play all three, though rarely online. Empires Earth was ok, tried it a few times. Have any of you checked out 0AD?
I sure haven't. What it tis?
Its a historical strategy game with campaigns, multiplayer, skirmish, and city costomization. Google it!
I own the second and third and love them. I have never played the first.
But I like Age of Mythology the most! |
Back before I played online games, I played Age of Empires 3 a ton... beat the campaign, and also got some add on packs for it.
I have also played Age of Mythology and AOE 2. |
I got 1 , 2 , 3 / 3 (dynasty) Pretty good game i always use British :P
I have the 3rd. I like the Germans, Russians, and British. I have the Rise of Nations demo and it's amazing.
I have the Rise of Legends demo and it's also amazing. As for AOE, I have the whole series and they're all addicting. I've always wanted to play Age of Mythologies, I heard that it's good. In AOEII, I almost always play as the Germans.
I love Age of Mythology.
I got AOE 3 I always stay Brithis and i made my explorer named James Norrignton :P
lol man, thats cool.
I started out playing Age of Empires II and the Conquerors Expansion pack. After that, I got the original Age of Empires and I hated it! You won't like Age of Empires if you played the second AoE. I haven't gotten the 3rd yet but I heard it is pretty cool. I have AoM but it didn't work too well on my PC.
The music in the second one is kinda creepy.
