POTC or POTC 2?

Which movie do you prefer? The Curse of the Black Pearl or Dead Man's Chest?

I like the second better, it was much more humorous. :p

What about you?

I liked the second movie. I have yet to see the first movie.

Ducky Wucky 03-14-2007 03:32 AM

They were both very different. So I wouldn't be able to pick. And also because I just liked them both so much!

The first movie was less fighting because they had to introduce the characters. So MAYBE slightly I like the 2nd more. Only because I love fighting.

 You never seen that movie! See it now!

Ducky Wucky: I really like the second also because of the fighting. There were a few fighting scenes in the first, but not as much in the second. :D

Biscuit 03-14-2007 05:55 AM

The second one was much more creative and well-thought out. I mean just look:

sword fights on giant rolling windmills
shipmates captured and put in giant rolling balls that end up rolling down a hill
Jack tied to the stick trying to get out with the shish-ka-cob (sp?) part
The game they played with the dice
Graphics much improved
Many more characters

Maleficent_Rocks 03-14-2007 07:21 AM

So many reasons to love both movies (the first being the original, which makes it the best), but I really think that the prevailing movie was the 2nd.

I think that Johnny was probably given more creative freedom, considering how well the first one did, and I think it really shows in the movie.

JohnnyGunflint 03-14-2007 07:38 AM

I think that the first movie was kinda like an introduction to the world of the Pirated Carribean.
The second movie explores that world.

StitchMad 03-14-2007 08:00 AM

I can't even remember the first one, and I watched the second one about 5 times on the plane home from WDW.
I remember the second was best though. :) I wonder what happens next.. "Would you be willing to go to lands end to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow?" He was in a Krakens mouth last time I heard! LOL.

I always bring my pirate movies with me on plane rides. It passes the time away. ;)

The second movie was just all around funny. It was also nice seeing Elizabeth fight and take out all those pirates! :D

Elizabeth fights better than Will and Jack combined... @_@
Also, I personally think her outfit was the best designed costume in the movie.

Yeah, I'm getting a little worried about her new costume in this movie coming up. I saw a picture, and it looked a little bit awkward. O_o

What'd it look like? Too revealing? Too girly? Too piratey (as if that's possible )?

I'm not sure how to explain, it just didn't look right. O_o

Well, for now, I'll have to imagine it.

warner 03-14-2007 05:19 PM

Well, this is a tough choice but I have to say the second movie. It had more action and it was an all around better movie to me. I do agree with icecoolio that this explains what Pirates of The Carribean is really about. And the second was much more creative to me.

And Elizabeth.. Better than Jack and Will? No, sorry, but Jack Sparrow is probably better than Will and Elizabeth together.

Oh, and nice signature Ducky.

I agree that the second movie had a lot of good action, but don't you think that they kinda focused on that? I would like a better plot like the first one's.

Just my opinion.

It's like The Lord of the Rings. The first one had almost no fighting in it, and the second one had a TON of fighting in it. That's just how movies are made today. That's all there is to it.

Point taken. I do hope some extravegant director will someday take movies in a new direction.
But still, POTC and LOTR are still good movie series, of course.

Crimsonite 03-15-2007 03:56 AM

I would have to go with POTC because that movie was good throughout the entire movie, while I did not like the beginning and ending of POTC 2. :)

The two pirates (Hilarious! will that one pirate ever deal with the whole - eye - issue?)

POTC 2:

JohnnyGunflint 03-15-2007 05:49 PM

Shiver_Me_Timbers, ya really like dat Jack Sparrow, mon?

Lady Annie 03-16-2007 04:06 AM

I'd say POTC 2. It was because of that movie I am now more hooked on Pirates than ever!

And the Kraken. Don't forget the Kraken, or I will send him to terminate you. lol

PinkTinkPixie 07-28-2007 07:07 AM

POTC2 was a lot better, in my opinion. I don't really know how to explain why... I guess I liked the story better, or something :/

Tonguetyed 07-28-2007 07:29 AM

Its definitely POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl. I'd find it hard to believe that I would be in the minority here. The second movie was so drawn out and the plot was all over the place. I'll admit, there were some well-made scenes in POTC2 (like the Kraken), but POTC was overall a smoother storyline. Plus, I think Depp's performance in POTC was the best out of all three movies. I just think POTC2 was done in by its lack of plot substance.

Captain Jhawk 02-26-2008 07:57 PM

I think POTC 1 was better than POTC 2. POTC1 had a lot more action! But my favorite POTC movie is #3.

piratefan71495 06-03-2008 06:35 PM

I really enjoyed both but hands down I have to say the second one, Jack Sparrow is in more of the second one and it has more action and humor.

Noogah 09-10-2008 10:33 AM

That would be a very hard decision. Probably one. Right now, I feel more in the mood for two. But as a general rule, I prefer one. It was amazing computer graphics, and filming. Especially for 2003! Plus, It just made more sense.

Bonnylass64 10-24-2008 08:26 PM

I prefer the first one. Thats my fav out of all three movies.
