The Kraken to be released?
 

I was going through all the threads at Partners in Crime, and I found news suggesting something really different that confuses me. I believe that theyre stating that the kraken is not going to come. Although it seems it will, I have poundered on it for a while. so I came upon this thought. There is a possibility they are not releasing it. Though do not let your gaurd down. The reason I say this is because I remember when they had the founders feast going on I thought I could let my gaurd down. I was so wrong! I got blasted away by Jolly Roger at the founders feast. Unfortunately this is just a pop up that you see when you enter the game. I'm sure if the Kraken really was released it'd spend a month or two on test before hitting open.

It's a teaser of something to come.....nothing on Test thus far and no sightings.

Spent a bit of time sailing yesterday with no Kraken and nothing on test. Doubt it's actually been released yet.

No Kraken this morning. Perhaps they will have a warning like "The monster is here so for those of ye not interested in sinking get to shore." It would be at certain times of the day like the time we all changed into undead. That way if your interested in trying your luck at killing the kraken you can set sail. I can imagine a fleet attacking a single kraken in the front bay of PDF and rooting for the Kraken to win. Go Kraken!:smiley57:

I dont know - the Kracken could be a GREAT chapter for higher levels to increase a 'newly raised' notor cap! Woot Woot!!

It does appear to suggest that the Kraken is indeed on the way. Since it isn't on test yet though, I assume its still a bit off, or simply might be appearing on test shortly.
Hopefully a long quest with higher notoriety as well to keep those of who are currently capped busy.

I believe it is coming very soon, because I have found that in the current news archive on the official POTCO website the kraken was released on test when they started talking about the updates we are experiencing now.

There is no Kraken on test as of yet.

So do we think they will release it tomorrow? I mean it is the REAL reason for the green water after all.. Everyone thinks it's not coming because its on test.. but maybe the reason it is taking so long is

1. they need to make higher levels and such to raise noto cap with this new boss
2. they are testing it themselves to make it even more of a suprise
3. well.. i don't have a good three but still..

My hope is that they do one massive update that they have been secretly testing themselves so when they make the release they can advertise like crazy on disney again.. put some more commercials on and get a whole new wave of pirates... but then again.. that is just me wish. Hopefully St. Patrick's Day will make us all lucky and make it so this be true....

Yes one can hope Pirategirl09. I just hope they do release it, because I believe that they will start making better improvements. all we need is the kraken to be released, and here comes everything falling into place. You know what I mean?

I have to disagree, rather than the Kraken being released and everything falling into place...
I think if they raise the Lvl Caps first everything will fall into place, story (Which ends with the Kraken) etc.

There's a huge problem overall in Disney's next move to introduce any storyline or addition - which is the same issue they had a year ago... and that is "how do you fill in the gap between Pearl Completion vs. L40 vs. New Story vs. L??.

If your at L40, and a new story comes out and gives you enough REP for say 7 more levels (say they raise the REP cap to 50) this will leave another 3 Levels to 'grind away...'. Good for us at L40... but bad for new accounts. Why?

If I start new and the Quest comes out - I would probably do both question together (finish the Pearl at around L27 - then Play the new Quest and lets say it gets me to L38). Now to get to L50... I'm looking at 13 levels even HARDER that the ones from L30 to 40.

In fact - each time Disney releases a storyline which does not take the player almost to the end to the Noriety Cap - the distance between story quests and Notiety Cap will increase and be harder.

You could put a stop-gap measure in there (say not give the next story quest out until L35) - but making new players wait for what should of already been given to us all a year ago will only turn away newer paying customers and the game won't continue to grow.

Its a very big probblem of logic... if they release the Kraken without raising Noriety - olders players maxed out will feel gipped losing Noriety to doing a quest where it doesnt count - in reverse if they raise the cap without fixing the 'Noriety Gap' between the stories, this will only alienate new players and they lose out there...

I'll be very interested to see how they solve the issue... I think they tried to with adding side quest to a point... but these only provided at most enough REP for another few Noriety Levels... They would need to release several more along with a major quest to fill in the gap to make an entire trip to L50 (or close to it) not become a major challenge of finishing all the quests - yet be left going from L38 to 50 only grinding away weapons...

We shall see I guess :)

I agree with you there! But I must admit I am leaning more towards the Kraken.. Sounds like it will be another fun Boss Battle to get a crew together for... if and when it is released lol!:12_1_138:

i have seen a video with kracken on it from potco site when they say how they are making the game.(lasts for like 2 seconds)
and i sunk a death omen today and i wasn't really paying attention or had my sound up but i did not see a shadow. and i was on the caixus ocean or something like that.
and it is quite almost all the time and has juggies! :laughks2:

but next time i will have my sound up and look out for a shadow. :degen:

The Kraken does NOT exist in the open game (or even on test yet) for the reasons given in the most recent Game Insider. There are posted pictures on the official POTCO site, they have been there, along with videos of them, and developers talking of them since the games inception.. nothing new. Only the latest Game insider has in reality offered any new information on the Kraken coming to the game.

Claims of seeing shadows in the game, hearing shrieks are either attempts at gaining popularity, or overactive imaginations at this point.

If the Kraken comes, I might too. I loved Pirates, its just not worth $10 a month for nothing to do.

Well if it is coming, it would most likely be in the new chapter. Not just anywhere in the High Seas...

Pirates Online released a little information stating that Lord Beckett will be joining up with Jolly Roger in an attempt to take control of the Caribbean Seas.. you never know - Davy Jones might just come into the picture and be the driving force to push this "invasion" back.. with a little help from "terrible beasty" :)
