TEST server now open to everyone

Ooooh, plenty of new wall glitches. My favorite so far, is under the bridge. Brings me up right by Lucinda!

Crashed launching ship...

May I please have a test guild invite code? (Which guilds exist on test?) Thank you.

Ghostcannon 01-30-2009 06:38 AM

So Disney is no longer sending invites for the test server and you just go and log in?

Edward Edgemenace 01-30-2009 06:50 AM

Apparently! :-)

Changing out of full screen mode does some evil things to my display.

Impressive how many wall/door glitches they closed in that jail. I tried over 20 and only found three that still work.

I wonder why they said memory leaks are fixed? Seems to still grow, just like open servers.

Tutorials were jumpy, I assume because of the server overload.

New crew matching is FANTASTIC, so far...

seanymc27 01-30-2009 07:12 AM

wow this is so chill
cant wait 2 try it

Edward Edgemenace 01-30-2009 07:26 AM

ROTFL - god mode glitch is gone - you can't leave the jail anymore. Main jail door no longer opens. Yay.

Made it only to level 5 in the one hour it was open. At one point, saw at least three people level up at the same time, on a level 8 sergeant. F9 quirks seem to be back to the old way of leaving the location, forever. Linked accounts don't match OPEN, but apparently they should?

Man, like a kid in a candy store, I tell ya. Didn't collect my thoughts well enough to report any wall glitches. Nothing major seemed to be broken; didn't get to SvS nor PvP yet. Totally in love with the new crew stuff - clicking on people in the HUD is the way to go!

seanymc27 01-30-2009 07:27 AM

haha well at least they r fixing things

PR is almost done loading up =)

lostmymarbles 01-30-2009 08:13 AM

Ed.. I haven't tested out the evict a crewmember yet.. apparently can only be done in svs mode... but the possibilities just bring a smile to my face

Deuces Wild (spelled right this time) has a guild on test... lol... do you meet our criteria? PM Sarah...

Edward Edgemenace 01-30-2009 08:15 AM

Wow, they are back up already. (I'm older than dirt - are there other qualifications for the test server guild?)

Molly Ironbones 01-30-2009 08:19 AM

Disney sent out an invite tonight for all to join test server. I am in awe. Looks fantastic!!!!!

There was a previous post about test server access and the links, look there for the download. ;)

The Test News Post is here (containing Links for Downloading the TEST Pirates Program)

http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...167#post113167

Test Posts will be moving to "The First Mate Club Group - POTCO's Test Group. Join this to be able to post in The Helm" later today to better control all the new posts which will be flooding in :)

Instructions to "The First Mates Club" will be posted shortly - allowing all those who want to post in this Group Forum to do so. :)

If you account is activated on test, you can play on test. Re-downloading the separate executable, isn't the limitation they've put in place. I can't see anyone getting in trouble for trying to login there, only to discover that they were in the batch of activated accounts and are authorized to test.

I was referring to those currently without an "active" Test account. I should have been more specific.

Thanks.....

Posting (Advertising) Unapproved IP Links is against the POTCO Forum Rules and Guidelines. We already know the link has been removed from the Official Site, and Testers have the ability to re-download the Test Program if required.

Those in The Helm can always re-download the links (as found by Edward 'cached') already here (and has been for some time - no one just bothered to read :) ) - just review the Sticky in The Helm for details (link also provided below).

Thanks for clarifying. The post I was referring to (looks like it was removed) had an unauthorized URL that redirected to what appeared to be a "hacked" version of the main Disney site with download links to an executable file.

:skull:

Edward Edgemenace 02-06-2009 08:14 PM

I didn't find that cached link. I fail to see how that is "unapproved" as it links only to the official Disney place to (re-)download it, to check to see if you are authorized on test. I for one, had no way of knowing the main thread here has now been updated (for the longest time, it wasn't.)

At any rate, anyone who has not checked their TEST server access, probably should, by following the link Maximvs provided.

Um, no. Google cache is not "hacking" by any stretch of the imagination. The executables linked are the official Disney TEST server executables, from the original Disney page.

The Links in your posts you pulled and were actually direct links, the others were of cached pages (not allowed - the IP can then be spoofed / changed later). :)

I probably could of cleaned up the post - but it got caught up in the removal of the others and thats why I posted the link we have here for them already :) No bad on you ;)

The cache isn't really a 'hack' per/sey... but as it was an IP based address it is not alowed.

Ok.....the post I was referring to (now removed) was circumventing the system. That was my point. I did not test the links on the URL that were posted to see if they did point to the same executable file. I believe the intentions of that post were to allow anyone to download and attempt to setup a new Test Server Account. If that is was Disney wanted, surely those links would still be active today at piratesonline.com. I'm not dragging this thread out like the Jumper in PVP....lol....just clarifying. Thanks.....

There was no "circumvention" at all. The google cache link that he provided pointed to the Official Disney announcement with the Official Disney download links to the Official Disney TEST executables so that the few people here who said they thought they missed out, can test their Official Disney test authorization and Official Disney test server access.

It's not like the Mac users that said they thought they missed out, aren't needed on test. There are at least four threads here on POF alone, demonstrating that Mac users didn't get sufficient test server opportunity, recently.

Those links....are not "officially" available today on the Disney web site if you go to piratesonline.com. I understand your point....but I have one as well. I do know the links were not active for very long and that in itself upset a lot of folks. Trying to make up for a missed opportunity....understandable. However, the approach taken in the forum was obviously removed for a valid reason.

*I'm not quoting all of that...*
Its simple - the pages are removed (hence cached pages are not live pages) - making them now UN-official Disney Pages. The Address was IP based - it is not allowed and against Forum Policy. Continuing to make this out of porportion from posting an IP address to a larger issue will require the thread deleted.

Please read my previous post. along with the information in my post on Page 1 for links and information.

Edward Edgemenace 02-06-2009 11:38 PM

Erm, thanks then, for posting the official link that says the same thing and removing the heinous raw IP address.

Poison elf 02-07-2009 02:15 AM

Well that almost gave me a headache, good thing I have a beverage.

I will point out something that was confusing to me. The first link Max post is a dead link, and doesn't work to the test. The other leads you to the new version, and is the sticky on this helm page.

Yep, the first link is now broken (actualy removed by D - see next line) , and I changed my post to refer to the Sticky in the Helm instead.

The link in the first thread was to their open invite, and they removed it later.
