Dueces Wild Scavenger Hunt, II
 

Start planning and scheming for the second Dueces Wild Scavenger Hunt!
This event is for Dueces Wild Guild members only.
The Hunt will be held on two guild nights, Feb. 17 and Feb 24. Each night will consist of different parts of the list.

Rules for Scavenger Hunt

Teams:
Each team/crew must consist of 4 pirates. In each team, there must be at least one pirate level 20 or less, and one pirate at least level 30 or higher. The other 2 pirates can be any level. I also request that each team have at LEAST one member who was not a DW member when we ran the last Scav Hunt. (I'm devious, I want at least one person per team who wasn't involved in the last Hunt. It promotes teamwork, and gets y'all involved with the new members!)
Teams must be formed and registered here, by posting the team members names, prior to the posting of the Scavenger list.

Chat:
Each team should use crew chat for all in team discussions, and use guild chat to chide, mislead, and generally harrange other teams.
The Vent server will be available, and maybe we can convince our Wench members to allow access to their vent server , too.

The rules:
1) Absolutely NO glitching! Anyone caught glitching immediately gets their entire team disqualified!
2) Proof of accomplishments:
For proof that a scavenge is completed, there must be a picture/screencopy of each accomplishment.
To take a screenie, press the "F9" key. DO NOT press "F12" prior to taking the screenie, since this removes all the data that is on the screen. The data is an important part of proving the accomplishment. All 4 members of the crew/team must be visible in the picture. (For sea battles, I must see your ship and the enemy ship(s) in the pic, And, I must see the crew HUD displaying all 4 crew members names. I know this does not prove that all 4 members are on board, but this is to be taken as proof.)
2A) If you are the person taking the screenies for the Scav Hunt, wait a full minute between screen captures! If you don't wait, they will overwrite each other!
3) The screencopies should be posted here on POF No LATER Than, noon Eastern the day after each section of the Scavenger Hunt. Multiple posts are acceptable if needed. Posts should include the team/crew name, so that I can easily identify who is who.
4) The scavenger hunt will begin at the moment that the list is posted. Each team has until Noon Eastern the following day to post their pics and answers to the questions. Any postings after then will not count as a completed task.
5) I will post the team scores as soon as possible after the Scavenger Hunt. I learned from the last one that it takes time to evaluate and score the results.
6) The GM is the scorekeeper.
7) The decisions of the GM are final.
8) The list will be posted here in this thread at approximately 8:00 PM, Eastern time, Feb 17, with the second part of the list on Feb 24.
9) Some of the items in the list do not require screenies, just answers to the questions. The answers must be sent to me via PM or email in order to get credit.
10) No swapping pirates during the course of the event. You must play with the pirate that is registered in your crew here in the thread. i.e., you cannot start out the event as Mary, and change to Sarah part way thru.

Strategy:
1) The list will be very comprehensive, it is not expected that a team will complete the entire list.
2) Each team should evaluate the list and determine their best, and worst, skills as a group.
3) Work toward those skills.
4) If you are having troubles getting a high point task, pass on it and build on some of the low point ones, this contest is probably going to be won by only a few points.
5) Not all members of a team need be ingame for the duration of the Hunt, but all team members MUST BE included in each picture that is to be counted as a task completion.
6) It might be best to have only one team member take all the screenies, that way, only one has to post them here.
7) You can change servers all you want, but Purvis will be on PDF on a quiet server when he logs in.
8) Allow time to post the results!!
9) I am not putting an "End" time to each evening. The screenies don't have to be posted until the following day. This should help. Last time, I was up until 2:30 in the morning, just verifying that results were posted, let alone the 4 days it took to score.

Prizes
1) 5K in gold to each member of the winning team.
2) Bragging rights!
3) The ability to berate the losing teams.

Over the next weeks, discuss it over with your friends and guildmates. Form your team, and register by posting your crew name and listing all four crew members here!
If you would like to just post your name, I will keep a running list of who is intending to participate here on this posting. You can visit here and then meet with other guildies in game to form a team. List your pirate name, and their current notoriety level.


Rules and date may be modified slightly between now and the date of the Scavenger Hunt, so check back before the beginning of the contest.

Feel free to ask questions or post comments.

When making a team, watch your time zones! Some poeple may want to start and end later than the normal 8PM to 11PM Eastern.

I like the extension for posting the screenies. I think that was the hardest part of the hunt ;)

However...No End Time?

I think we need a cut off time, else, you know me, I'll just stay up all night finishing off the list.....

Deliberately NOT giving and end time each evening. That way, if your team wants to get all the stuff with screenies, where all 4 must be present at the same time, they can then let the OCD ones do the list. (and a few of (US) can get some sleep!)
That is, if they trust you to get the answers by yourself.
BUT, I would think that everyone would want to participate to the fullest.

I am also thinking about our members from different time zones! Maybe Tandykins, Blue, Arianrhod, Sven and someone from the west coast could team up. They have different hours, and may want to start and end later.

Notice, there is no Hourly check in this time, either.

Alrighty, I've got three lev 40' and (for now) a lev 10....take that back, three on my other account, all under lev 10 (could have a lev one if you're feeling daring, one more open slot ;) )

For those that are new to DW guild:

We ran a Scavenger Hunt, almost the same as this, back in late October. It was probably one of the best guild events we have had. If you would like to see, go into our archived posts and look at some of the threads from that time frame.

I am doing it a little different this time, based on lessons learned from the first one. Mainly, the first one started at 8PM Eastern, and ended at 12. By the time we got everything done, it was almost 3 AM, and we all had to work the next day. (I only got 2 hours sleep that night.) Other things different were that it was a little bit of a mess for those that don't live in the EST time zone.

I post this in the hope to encourage some of you to sign up and join a team. If nothing else, you get to meet and interface with people in the guild who you don't normally spend game time with.

If you can make it and want to join in, just post your pirate info here, and then look at the OP to see who else is available. When you see them ingame, or PM them, to get a team together.

One suggestion. Pick your photographer. Photographer, it's a little easier for the point counter (um...basil) if you post the screenies in a separate thread once the event is finished. Title the thread "team ______ scav hunt pics". That way this thread won't get all jumbled and confusing. Also helps to label the pics; ie "finding Lars, 5 million points"

Soooooo, whoever choses to be the photog, you got extra work to do. Make sure you're up for it. Same for the random question answer-er, decide who is going to submit all the answers, and put it in your teams screenie post. (everyone can submit the answers, but it's best if one post is submitted)

Aye, I've been having some bad lag lately since the update. It's mostly when I sail, cannon, or swim, but it is also intermittent on land. So in order to not hinder the progress of the team I initially joined, I am withdrawing from the scavenger hunt. Good luck to all.

I have had some problems, both regular game and on test. Took a loit of tweaking. Try that thread Sarah mentioned, and if it doesn't work, I'll PM you all the settings that I went through. Don't give up hope! LOL

Oh... um... the thing is, POTCO doesn't really work on this computer (my mom's computer) and mine doesn't even recognize the video controller anymore (although I had a tech work on it for 4 hours) and so I won't have a computer to play until I buy one.

The cheapest one I found is $449 after rebates. I don't even have that much in my bank account. I'm going to be gone for at least a month, possibly two. I'm sorry!

Question: As the event is spread out over two weeks.... If my pirate starts out at a L20 or less, but for week two he is over L20 (like L21 or 22) - does that disqualify the team?

Obviously baby Max is only L17 - but if he was at L18 or so for week one - then got his gernades at level 20 during the week and I wanted to start working them - would I have to stop playing him just to be safe? (as my time is limited lately - I'd hate to 'waste' the time on him if I get the chance...)

During Bella's Boss Battle, I took 5 screenies, but only the last one was in my directory when I went to post them.
I am hearing form a few other Guildies that they are seeing the same thing.

She has windows explorer open to where the screenies get saved. When she snaps a screenie, she immediatley changes it's file name.

Yep. I usually just delete some numbers from the end of the name - quick and easy. Just don't die in game while you're renaming... LoL

I did testing at the last event - and I was able to take screenies up to 5 second intervals... donno if this was just my good fortune or if its back to normal (sorry folks - this work project is giving me no time to test at the moment...)
