This is such a fun character to watch. You never really know what he is going to do next, but you know it will be Something;-)

Depp has guts taking some of the roles he's taken. Things I never thought he'd be able to pull off. But he does them really well.

Jack Sparrow is definatly an interesting character. I kinda feel like we all know someone 'like' him. Flamboyant, close talker, hustler ...

Depp has really gotten many more fans just by doing the first POTC movie! He made a wise choice to accept the role as Captain Jack Sparrow. I've been a HUGE fan of his work, from A Nightmare on Elm Street to Dead Man's Chest. No one could pull the part of Captain Jack Sparrow off as Johnny Depp has.

Johnny Depp is probably the most qualified for the part Jack Sparrow. He looks awesome in the Chinese Warrior suit.

I don't believe that has been proven. But I'll look into it.

I don't believe that he will be retiring anytime soon.
Anyways, I think Depp was a good choice for Sparrow.

Actually, Johnny *will* be retiring soon. Sweeny Todd with Tim Burton will be one of his last films, unfortunately. He wanted to retire when he got to be around 50 (he's 43.. or 44, I forget).

Just to let everyone know who doesn't yet, that Asian costume is NOT in the movie. All the images of "Johnny" in that costume are actually images of Toby Markham in a costume he designed and made himself, with Johnny's face pasted on. Toby was interested in seeing what Johnny would look like in the costume. Well, somehow the images got found by someone, spread around as being real, and even though Toby came clean all the way back last summer, people are *still* believing them to be real. But they're definitely not. Jack Sparrow has zero costume changes in AWE.

Pirates of the Caribbean series. No wonder
they paid him 35 million. He deserves it. :)

He did great in the movie.
He has some serious guts taking the movie roles he takes.

Well - here's an approximate timeline for JD in the next year...not slowing down anytime soon, that's for sure:

Jan - voice RANGO (animated feature by Gore Verbinski)

March - May (I am guessing a quick 10 -12 week shoot) The Rum Diary

June - promo PE (Public Enemies, being released Summer 2009)

July - August Dark Shadows ( should be another 10 -12 week shoot)

Then, he's also made the deal with Disney to star in POTC4 (2012 release) and The Lone Ranger (no release date yet). And his production company, Infinitum Nihil, has options on numerous books and screenplays, many of which are considered to be starring vehicles for him.

So I wouldn't say he's ready to start collecting Social Security and wearing black socks with sandals anytime soon. ;)

I saw an interview with the producer and the script writer. They said that Johnny Depp completely changed the character from the script...The script had him as a staunch, no foolish pirate. But when interviewed Depp said he wanted to create a character that all ages could relate to....Which IMHO he certainly did! J Depp alias Jack Sparrow...U ROCK!!! I can't imagine anyone else playing the part now...it just wouldn't be the same.
