700 people saying "FIX POTCO!!!" isn't just going to make time and money appear... Be happy with what the game offers, and I know for a fact that they have lots of new content to come.
|
I don't think it's the fact that POTCO is lazy, I think it's the fact of how much employees it has. With all the layoffs in DIMG, I can imagine how many employees must have been laid off. POTCO is releasing content, just not fast enough because of the lack of people working on it.

If this petition works by some miracle, dimg could really profit a lot. If the potential is not wasted, pirates can be a great game for us current players and attract a mass amount of new subscribers to get dimg back in shape. |
Ahoy mates,
This is a reminder that the petition is still going on and has so far progressed a lot. It is far from over however, and the petition does need your full support. All we ask is for your pirate signature as mentioned in the petition FAQ. Your support can go beyond that however. We urge you to spread the word to every corner of the Pirates Online game. Reach out to your friends, guilds, and all fellow pirates you see in the game, even if you do not know them. Tell all you know and to all you see about this movement/petition that aims for a better and improved Pirates Online. Guide them into signing so hopefully we can make a change in Pirates of the Caribbean Online to enjoy the game we all love to its full potential. To go to the Petition website, click HERE (http://revivepotco.org/) We would also like to hear your feedback by leaving a comment HERE (http://revivepotco.org/updates/feedback-99/) Thank You |
Pirates who refuse to sign this petition I'm afraid do not truly grasp it's context.
Petitions and calls have been made like this in the past, where signing meant you "demanded" new content from Disney, in the actual hopes that it would appear out of thin air and come to you. Obviously, this is a faulty dream - we should all be aware by now that we cannot force the developers to release new content because they are always working to reach it, and rushing it just gives us a short job. And truth be told I was skeptical of this petition at first, because I thought it was just another one of those backwater lists that would fade off because of poor management, faulty purpose, and clouded direction. But as I studied what the context of this movement was, the grandure of it's scheme, and the dedication of pirates who truly love this game, I came to understand it. This petition is not meant to "demand" anything - it only demands the attention of Disney to these problems. For too long Disney has clouded their work on the game behind a shroud of secrecy and self-direction, but in a time like this, where the community of pirates is under attack, they can no longer ignore working with us to solve these problems. We have reached a time in this game where these problems can only be solved by communication between the developers and the players themselves, and this great banner of a petition is the first step towards reaching them. Therefore, I, Captain Delmaria Darkskull, fully support this petition in the name of Pirates Online, and I can only hope that all of my Brethren follow in the same path. |
For those who have no faith in Petitions...
Over the course of the past years, petitions were used to salvage TV shows that faced cancellation by showing the network that there were actually people who watched and enjoyed those programs. The petition is not meant as a complaint as much as it to show Disney there is a fan base out here who wants to see it succeed. Don't think of the petition as a gripe list. Think of it as a shout of support and adoration for an experience we all love and want to keep enjoying. The MMORPG in general right now is evolving. Star Wars is going Free Play. WoW is making changes due to games like RIFT offering free play etc. Pirates has been around for nearly 5 years, not including the Beta tests. Thats a long shelf life for such a game, but even if Disney only supports it until the movie series is finished, that's still another 3-4 years. I encourage you to take the brief time to put our 'X' on the petition. If not just for the future, but also as an acknowledgement of the past when we all first set foot on the shore here. EC |
Wooo nice job guys. Last i checked, the petition had collected more than 1000 signatures. I'll do my best to spread the word around in the game.
And i agree with Eliza and Captain Del :mickeypiratezd4: |
MMOs in general have suffered these past few years. Even big games which are constantly updated have suffered. The new Starwars MMO, from what I' aware of, has suffered huge drops in player population in just the first year. Even WoW is starting to bore people and players have become upset.
I really appreciate that Disney even started making games like Toontown and Pirates. They're two really unique games with huge potential to be great games. Hopefully Disney will realize what a dedicated community they have and do something about it in the future but until all we can really do is stay loyal to this and other Disney MMOs. |
With all due to respect, I still stand by my decision. I do not support it at all.

I think it's pretty clear what the purpose of this petition is. In my opinion, i think everyone should also be clear that nothing bad can come out of this petition either. I have little hope for the game but signed because i know that there is nothing to lose from doing so. Worst case scenario, game continues on the same trend. Best case scenario, all or most the issues are slowly fixed. So if you think about, anything this achieves will equal happier players. So with that, i thank the organizers of this because if it doesnt work, all their work and time will have gone to waste but lets all hope it works and at least sign it now that we have the opportunity.

advertising it really needs to be done. How many millions of people go through the Disney gates at their theme parks each year? How many of them even know about the game? Just one simple advertisement at the entrance or exit of the Pirates Of The Caribbean attraction could do wonders. It wouldn't even cost them much since they own the parks.
|
We don't need advertising, although it would be helpful. The petition has already gotten over 1,000 signatures and has more than 1,200 now if I recall. The signatures are growing and I'm pretty sure that's pretty good for a petition without advertising other than forums and the POTCO Wiki.
|
I think he meant advertising the game would help it get better. I doubt it would be possible to advertise the petition as mentioned above in parks. And I agree, the game should be advertised more on TV, parks, etc.
