New guild formed called "North Star"

I have started a new guild called 'North Star' and am looking for good candidates for members.

The qualifications are easy, any pirate that doesn't fight with his fellow pirate, except in the privateering quests (Spanish Vs. French) which is ok as this is part of the questing process to get the tattoo. Helping to support the guild with good members to be inducted into the guild.

Advancement in the guild is anyone up to lvl 15 is a member then when you gain lvl 16 you become an officer, OR if you gain enough members to join the guild you can become an officer under lvl 16. By recruting 20 or more people into the guild you can become an officer before reaching lvl 16.

I can usually be found around Padres del Fuego or sailing one of my 3 war ships, War Sloop and War Galleon called Red Raider and the War Frigate called Red Fox, most of the time i am on the War Galleon.

Just look for me if you would like to join my guild.

I would like to have the guild become one of the larger and most popular guilds of POTCO.

Best of luck to ye mate. Just one thing. Why should people join your guild? Give em reasons to join. Other than that, I like it. Hard to find members, but try yer bst, and maybe make a guild website. They help a little.

I'm thinking of setting up a membership contest for people who join my guild.

The 1st place winner of getting the most members would get a 90 day unlimited pass to POTCO. Second and 3rd place winners would get a 30 day unlimited game pass.
This I hope will get a little interest in joining my guild.
The contest would start on January 1st and run till the end of Febuary 2009.
I plan on getting the game passes in January, and they will be given away to the winning people. All i ask is that interested people who join the 'North Star' guild that join for the game pass contest remain guild members. In case of a tie on 1st place the 2 highest members for new recrutes would each get a 90 day unlimited game pass.

Please let me know if any are interested in joining.

I advise you NOT to have the level 16 rule as officer,

it should be about trust. What if they are very inmature but there lvl 16

so they kill you're guild by kicking everyone. just a word of the wise mate
your guild do what you want.

I will be making up a new set of guidlines that i hope will help in getting good members.
As for membership right now I want members that want to help make 'North Star' an enjoyable guild. Must be able to offer help to the other members of the guild if needed in quests where 2 or more people are needed to complete the quest. In other words a 'play nice' type of attitude will gain more trust and possible advancement in the guild.
I have seen squabbling of players with other people in the game and would not consider that type of person for 'North Star'.
As for recruting of members, i'm looking for a "few good Pirates (guys and girls)" for members. Must be honest, fair and not open to getting into arguments with other players or guild members. Must be willing to help when needed and abide by the decisions made when disagreements do arise.
The membership contest is still in the offer stage. Any members that want to join and have friends that will make a good member that will stay with the guild will be able to participate. No 'I'll stay untill i get the prize" and then bail, as i will be offering incentives from time to time for members to enjoy as members of the guild.

This is by no means a final decree on the rules of order, but will be updated and refined as needed as the membership grows. The rules will be discussed by all of the members from time to time to get input on how to make 'North Star' one of the best guilds of POTCO.

If they come to the forums and actually look at this thread, I'm more of the mind that they'll actually not do that. Still, I too agree that members shouldn't be given status based on level. Nor even on recruitment (but how can a member recruit someone?). Rather, let a man be made an officer when he shows officer material, whatever that may be.

Far be it from me to criticize a fellow buccaneer, but it seems to me that you would be picking up a lot of people that have been "dismissed" by another guild. If I were you (which I am not), I would be looking for "talent" and "character". I think that the contest is "out of the box" thinking (cudos to you), but always remember that you get what you pay for.

Just thought I'd chime in my 2 cents worth.

I may try to go and join for that prize, in which the case occurs where I win I'll join. Rather, if I even attempt and find the guild to my liking I'll be permanently rooted. If I join, it may be with a Dog de Creute or perhaps a Dog de la Creute. But the latter may require me to redo a recently made pirate, but it's all easy to do I guess.
