Question Best way to kill a Stump?

I'm at the point where I am getting tired of killing skeles on the beach at Padres. So I went over to Cutthroat. Stumps are beatable but I noticed something interesting.

I was working on my pistol. I wasn't sure what ammo to use. I tried Silver Shot and it worked eventually but I took a bit of a pounding getting it done. The biggest damage came from a surprising place- the Venom shot to the tune of twice as much damage as silver (and I have 1 skill point in each).

Does this mean they are classified as "Living" and Steel Shot (when it is unlocked to me) would be even better?

I have done it with grenades (and it's almost as annoying as using them on Kingshead) and Vodoo (poke and swarm them to 100 rep points).

The cutlass and dagger didn't seem as effective with a lot more misses than you would expect.

Does anyone have any oter ways for taking them out?

I never found grinding stumps effective with any weapon. The most you'll find in any particular area is 2 and they don't respawn fast enough to make the reputation worth the time. Stumps are considered living mobs but no mob is worth grinding for rep with steel or silver shot simply because they do too much damage and have limited ammo. Stumps also drop no coin so if you're in need of gold for something they're not a great mob to be farming. There is a poker bug, which I couldn't get PotCO to address, that can remedy all of your financial problems if you're adamant on farming stumps for some reason though.

You can crack into the wall inside Tormentia and level your gun insanely fast and easy using lead shot while most mobs can't hit you. Make sure you're packing some hex ammo for the Molusks and Brinescum since they're doll wielders and can damage you through the wall. Kelpbrains can hit you with their dagger throws but it's not enough damage to kill you before you do them.

There are actually 3 stumps that you can group together and go to town on smoke nades. 330 reps if u do it right. Also bring a healer, so you can port to each other as well and restock. Yes, I know there is a 4th there as well, but he's a loner and off to the back wall.

Stumps are my friend. I even feed them when I can (check my zoo thread in the screenshots lol)

I wouldn't say taking on a Stump with a pistol is the best way to level, sword/grenade/dagger/doll/staff are different. The best way to level is go to Tormenta as someone said and use hex shot on Mollusk or any voodoo type, shoot it three times or whenever the blue numbers go away and then wallah, he can't hurt you...good luck

Once your weapons all start hitting 20 padres beach gets to be a pain. nearly all grenadiers are grey and the only mobs still worth killing are the high gypsy spawns and the raiders. The only weapon I chose to level to 25 there was grenades for obvious reasons.
