Why is Your Pirate Who They Are?
A lot of people have their pirate the way he/she is for various reasons. Some base them off how they actually are in real life. Others base their pirates name off of a specific thing/place. And of course, when it comes to the attire, jewelry and tattoos included, pirates have a lot of different reasonings. Either way, your pirate most likely was influenced by something. So, why is your pirate who they are?
I'll start it up. I first made my pirate with the build he had because that seemed like the only build that really.. well.. made sense. I ended up starting my pirate out with a red, thick beard, but after I got Unlimited, I was too tempted by the Blackbeard beard to not give in. The tattoo on my chest of a ship breaking over the waves acts as a tribute to my oldest, first, and first guild I ran, the Sea of Time. The tattoo of the shark on my left arm represents the Victory Shark, the guild ship for both PIC and PNC. The French tattoo on my right arm represents our guild's favoritism towards the French side of SvS. The jewelry.. well, I think its purty :3 My Techno-Colored Dream Coat... ah, yes. Love at first sight. Bought it in March of 2008, and that same exact coat has been with me ever since. It just grows on you ![]() And the question everybody asks, that strange, strange name.. well, I've made up a lot of lying stories, but.. well, I'll leave that up to speculation ![]() Enough of my rambling. So, time to answer the question at hand: Why is your pirate who they are? |

Well, when I made my pirate... I was playing on a horribly slow computer, thats why I named him Davy Fireskull and not something else. I gave him the uber buff body cuz I wanted him to be strong.
He had some nasty clothes... most of which I threw away.... When I finally was able to get nice tattoos and clothes, I stuck to mainly a few. For clothes, I wore an Admiral's Hat (or fancy captain's hat as it was called at the time), a shop vest, brown pants, brown boots, and a jolly bones belt. I later changed into the outfit that I have on in my avatar, although it changes from time to time. Tattoos... my chest tattoo changes frequently, but I rarely show my chest (no its not because Im fat) I always wear my french arm tattoo, because I fight for the french and only the french. My other arm tattoo always changes. I almost always have a native eye tattoo on my face, just cuz its cool. Jewelry changes with what I wear. Heck, lemme give a list of all my guilds, and my positions in them. Shadow's Reapers: Goodness gracious, I remember nothing of that guild... I was still a noob when I was in it... I remember I was guilded at about lv 7, on Port Royal, outside the ammo shop closest to Will Turner before the island was remodeled... probably some time in late '07 or early '08... dont ask how I know that. I was a member... I think.... The Alien Pirates: I was the gm, but a noob gm. I left it later. Fireskull Inc.: I joined this one after The Alien Pirates. It was hard for me because I still had speedchat plus at the time, and this was before people with speedchat plus could talk to open chat players... and I never felt like I was liked in that guild.... The Royal Crews 2: My RL friend was the GM of it, and I was Co-Gm... eh... kinda failure guild... The Ancient Army: My first big guild. It was 500 people... 480 of which were noobs that didnt come online anymore... a good learning experience... The Guardians: Ahh... a good guild. I stayed in it for 2 weeks or so. Very nice people, always kind and welcoming... although I left because I wanted to be a guildmaster. Shadow Sorcerors: My current guild, I am the GM. Quite active, great people, and its my first successful guild. There we go, thats my pirate. Last edited by Tiberius Fireskull; 09-02-2010 at 02:19 AM.. Reason: added one little detail |

Because she's the exact opposite Angel? haha.
Well, all of my pirates have meanings behind them, but those personalities were really built later. Kat is the only one with the original personality because she is my very first pirate that I will never, ever delete. I actually tried to make Kat a little like me, but of course, that's pretty much impossible to do with an Avatar. However, it's the little things, you know? Hair, ear position, eye color, etc. It just made sense to me to do it like that. It's really the clothes that make her. I came into the game at a time when they still had coats as part of the starter outfit. It's because of that Crocodile Frock coat that I associate Kat wit the color green. You have no idea how devastated I was when the new inventory came out and they took away my coat. Her primary dingy top is also a deep forest green. I don't believe they sell that color anymore, so that will always stay with me. She also wears tailored capris, a loose leather vest, and brown buckle boots that cover her ankles. I can't stand the teeny tiny ankle boots. She rarely wears shorts or skirts, because she likes to be protected (and they just don't look right on her). Kat wears a silver ring on her right hand that I also wear. It's part of my personal significance. The tattoo that I would usually wear on my chest is part of The Scathed story. It is the compass tattoo, and it shows that I always know which way to go. The Tribal Forehead tattoo was the first tat I ever got, so that's the one that I have always, and it also marks all of my pirates. Kat's weapon of choice is the Cutlass, and she prefers cannoning over sailing. For a while, I tried keeping her even with the various weapons, but I decided no, her weapon is cutlass. When she does sail, she takes out her Lightning Mercenary, a glorious War Frigate. However, she shall never give away her little Cutthroat Wolf Light Sloop. That is the ship that was me for a long time. It wasn't until I got unlimited that I got the Lightning Mercenary. Also, her island of preference is Port Royal, because it reminds her of her old life. Kat Crestshot is a name I came up with from the list, but I couldn't think of myself any other way. It just makes sense in my mind. I am Kat Crestshot, first and foremost, in this game. I am the impossible Cresting Shot. Kat just happens to fit in there nicely. That's pretty much all I can think up at the moment. I could provide full biographies on all my other pirates as well, but I'll spare you all that torment. Besides, some of it have leaks for me story. ![]() I've made many pirates. Not nearly as many as a few people I could list, but I have a few. Kat is the one that is truly me. She's why I sign things with "Kat Crestshot" rather than just "Crestshot" on here. Sure, I have other female pirates, and a few males, but they're just parts of me. Kat is the whole. Kat is what I truly like, what I truly am, not the character I place myself into. I can say that Sarah prefers Doll, but that's not truly what I like. I like blades. I am Kat Crestshot. Last edited by Crestshot; 09-20-2010 at 07:05 AM.. |

Jack Shipsteel was made under numerous circumstances, most of which I hardly remember.. he was actually my second account, and I made him back in oh.. summer of '08. He had the name Jack Shipsteel because I though it was unique, and not one of those names that actually made sense.. the name Shipsteel didn't mean anything it just.. was. His body style was made that of an ordinary working man, not a giant, nor a midget. He started out with a horrible excuse for a coat, a few undershirts and a blue pair of pants for good measure. Ah.. and there was the hat, the signature hat that he ALWAYS wore, no matter the circumstance.
I came back to the game and saw immediately that Jack looked a little.. outdated. When I finally started getting the unlimited cards, I started changing the clothing around and went through a variety of different looks, The Vest Tattoo combo, the shirtless tattoo combo, the shirtless non-tattoo combo, and so on and so forth. Finally he settled on a vest and barbossa pants combo and wore that for a godd 4-5 months, before finally changing into the Traveller's wear. Now, as for Jack's personality, He didn't really have one when I started out. He was just the follower. Then it got molded into that of a pirate who both laughed at and respected all other players, no matter their levels and ideals. Each person has been taught different, and in order to make any headway, you have to listen to what they say, for if you shun out what they speak, you gain no knowledge. |

My pirate was made to be a strong pirate. When I joined in 2007, I got as far as level ten in a guild I think was called Renegade Phoenix. And in December 09, I returned to POTCO.
I currently do not have a tattoo or any jewelry. I stand strong with a War Frigate called Fighting Executioner, originally named Golden King (Golden King's name was stolen by someone else for the same ship class, and my GK was renamed) I currently reside in Spartans Savvy Jrs. as an officer with two of my friends there. My pirate trains on the Dangerous islands West, East, and South of Port Royal. He is mostly quiet now after what Jolly Roger took from him. |

I had made my very first Pirate, Jade Seawalker back in 2008, but I never really got too far with her because I wasn't allowed unlimited. That account was abandoned and I later forgot the username and password to it.
I started playing again in May or June of this year, and I play as Beth Seawalker. I obviously wanted to keep Seawalker because it was my very first pirate's name, but I changed the first name to Beth because it seemed quite uncommon in the game (now, however, I keep meeting more and more). Her body shape is the standard body shape for female pirates and appears very fit, and she is fairly tanned. Her facial appearance is again all standard, mostly because I was pleased with the way it looked and also because I couldn't be bothered to change it. Her hair is black and in a ponytail, which is usually hidden by her Adventure Cavalry Hat. Black because black is my hair color. Jewelery - Thanks to my dad who granted me Unlimited Access for my birthday, she can wear jewelery and tattoos! She always wears an oryx ring on her left hand because black is one of my favourite colours and also because it goes with everything, but the ring on her right hand frequently changes from sapphire to amethyst to ruby. All other piercings she wears are ones she has received from each of the jewelery quests. Tattoos - The only face tattoo she wears is the Jack Sparrow eye paint. Without it I find her face looks too plain. She wears an anchor tattoo on her chest, but arm tattoos frequently change. Some days she wears no tattoos at all (aside from the eye paint), and some days she is covered in them. Clothing - Changes.. a lot. She has never worn the same outfit for a solid day, and styles vary majorly as well. The outfit I keep her most in however includes a white cotton corset, Adventure Capris and the Adventure Cavalry Hat. Guild - Goodness I wish I could remember the very first guild she was in. When I first began playing PotCO again after quitting I was a guild jumper. Then, I decided that Beth was going to go without a guild, but on Unlimited Access Weekend I decided to create my own - The Wolf's Legacy. Boy, was it ever unsuccessful. I decided to leave it and an old friend of mine, who recently quit, guilded me into Pieces Of Me, and I have been with them ever since. They are such amazing, helpful and mature people. |

Hehe, I could spend hours delving into my different pirates and why they are the way they are. Sure I cut it down drastically and now only have 28 (only... :P) Most of them are actually "borrowed" characters so I wouldn't go into them here anyway. There is one that is mine alone. My oldest, and first to not be deleted pirate, Kat O'hara.
Her name is from the list, sure. But I'm a big fan of the book Scarlett, the sequel to Gone With The Wind. I was thinking about Scarlet's cousin Kathleen O'Hara when I picked the name. Since then though she's become something entirely different. Kat's an old body pirate, the middle girl cause I hated the others. Through the over a year that is her life she started with red hair. As soon as she went unlimited it became brown. Then black. Then white. Then blonde for a while. And then came St. Patricks, and she's had green hair ever since. Hey, she's Irish. That also explains her permatattoo, the big Celtic knot she always wears. She has the Black Market Ink face tattoo, and that never changes either. At first it was cause a whole lotta pirates in the guild I was in at the time had it. I tried to change it after I left the guild, but she just doesn't look right without it. It's a part of her now, as permanent as if it were a real tattoo. Her other inkage, her jewelry, that changes as often as she changes her clothes. Which is to say quite frequently. I've been told before that I'm "obsessed" with Kat, but like it or not she does have her own personality. Most of my pirates have their own personality or quirks. I have ones I play only in a bad mood. Pirates I go to when I want absolute silence. I have one I'm working into a bad guy image. Far and away Kat has the most pronounced personality. Kat is a product of my now 15 months of pirating. She has been with me almost since the very start. She's a product of a disastrous first guild experience. Of a second guild that didn't end so well. She's my year of learning to make lasting friendships with other online players, because Pirates is my first true big MMO. She's learned in that year that some people simply can't be trusted. She's learned that online friends can and will turn on you for any reason, or no reason at all. And now she's gun shy. Kat is what she is. Frankly I don't care what other people think about that. Kat is, more than any of my other pirates, and extension of me. I don't give a hoot if that makes me obsessed. It's what makes Kat Kat, and that's all that matters to me. |

Robin, Robin..... He's quite boring, actually. My pirate with the most representation is Jeanne De Clisson, Robin's more random, he has random tattoos, clothing, body, ect... the only thing that's really specific to him is the rings he wears on each hand that changes from time to time.
Jeanne, well, she may be the daughter of Jeanne, Jeanne II, or possibly that daughter's daughter, Jeanne III, but the goal for all of them is the same, to avenge the loss of Jeanne I's husband, Oliver De Clisson. Body - There are absoloutly no known descriptions of Jeanne, (or, as far as IK) so she has had like 5 different hair colors/styles but right now she's settled with brown hair with a French (the historical Jeanne De Clisson is French) briad and bangs. Clothing - it's all really random, honestly. Tattoos - Eventually she'll have the Spanish Privateering tattoo, for one, because she has the worst grudge agianst French monarchs and nobleman because they had a large part to do with the execution of her beloved husband. The Lion with the crown is like, the most perfect thing ever because her nickname was the "Lioness of Brittany" and she was the Duchess of Clisson for a long while (hence the De Clisson). Ship - Her ship, the Black Widow, is also the most perfect thing ever because for one, she's a widow, and the fact that she's a widow is the whole reason she's a pirate. The Black part is because she was known to sail ships with black sails, her armada was known as the "Black Fleet", and plus, a Black Widow is a venomus spider. |

Luckie O'Clover was made as my cross over from Pixie Hollow.
For the most part she is a representation of myself & my pixie. She started with dark brown hair & brown eyes (I was anxiously waiting for green hair to come back around). For her entire leveling career, she has had the classic ponytail and bangs. When she Mastered, (not counting potions) She replaced her ponytail with the long braid, signifying her "Glowing" up. Luckie has a short stature, well because, so do I & my Pixie, haha! Her nose is off center, which is because although she is quite proper, she will jump in to defend the small & meek, the just & right. She has 3 Celtic knot Tattoos paying tribute to heritage & my Pixie. Her outfit rarely changes, being the GM of the Pixie Pyrates, she needs to be well dressed but not too fancy to fight alongside her best mates. Her ship of choice is her War Frigate, the Wicked Widow. The name was chosen to be an intimidation factor, but any who know Luckie can testify, she is one of the nicest pirates in the Caribbean. ![]() This is my Favorite badge in the Hollow, conveniently named the Lucky Clover Badge It has been my fav, since 2 months prior to starting POTCO. Let's see...... I first made Christopher Ironhawk, my first pirate, a few days before Christmas in '07, I believe it was....
My body shape- What can I say? I am a football player- tall and broad. That is how I made Chris. Some of my tattoos are a symbol of something... some are not. I always wear full garb, so you will not usually see my tattoos. Left arm- Tiki.... I spent so much time on that quest to get the most random tattoo in the world; I will never take it off. Chest- "Mom".... Self explanatory... I love my Momma! Face.. I sport around the scary skeleton tattoo on my face... It goes with my jewelry. I wear tons and tons and tons of jewelry. Every single jewelry slot is filled up. I must have at least 10k gold worth of jewelry on my face and hands. I just look scary. All of it is silver and gold. Up until recently, I had the full Barbossa outfit on. I now have on the weirdest outfit known to man... Ya ready? ![]() Straw Hat from PR Red and White Striped shirt Whaling(Evening) Jacket Circus Breeches (Vertical Black and white Stripes) Boots so low that they make my pants look like capris. ![]() My ships: War Sloop- Dark-Blade Executioner War Galleon- Shadow Executioner War Frigate- Headhunter Executioner I just like the word 'Executioner' in my ship names. My regular fleet was made up of all Headhunters. As for my name..... I just liked it.... Absolutely no reason behind it besides the fact that it is catchy. ![]() As for my guilds, I have been a member of a number of guilds, most of which I do not remember the names of, probably because they were noobish and made by me. Here are the guilds that I DO remember. Some guild run by a pirate named 'Zack Hook Skull.' I was falsely accused of saying something bad to his wife, who was also in the guild.... Booted without question or trial Serenity Now- Promoted to Officer right before I took a 2 year-long break from the game. When I came back, I was booted and the GM was no longer active. Partners N Crime- I came back to POF before resuming play. I knew that I would need a guild... I clicked on PNC, which was the first thread I saw, as well as the best fit for me. I PM'd Captain Del, he gave me a code, and the first time I logged in to POTCO after 2 years, I had a great guild. I am currently in PNC, happy as could be, under the great leadership of Captain Del. So, that is my life story. ~Christopher Ironhawk Level 46 Member of Partners N Crime
