Ideas for Lootable Items and Weapon Customization
I have reason to believe that this loot system and gold cap is very limited, but I have a few ideas of how to get it up and running a bit better. We have all heard of ship customization, but I am thinking we need to go deeper than that, and into something a bit different.
I am thinking of Weapon customization materials being available to buy in stores and loot off of enemies. It would first deal with pieces, pieces of a blank sword, and even pieces of blank daggers, staves, and every other type of weapon you have in your arsenal. Here is how this would work. At the start of the game, out will instead of being given the Rusty Cutlass, you will try out all three types of the sword in a powerful variation of each. (exception of broadswords for limited access members.) You will test these all out in various challenges by Will Turner with all combo moves unlocked, and see which weapon fits your style the most by using various challenges for each weapon. After this, Will will take away the swords, and give you a choice of which blade you like the most. You may choose either type of the blade, and he will hand you the broken blade of it with second choice. You now have the choice of which broken handle you would like. The Handle would hold three cardinal moves you would like to have in your characters blade, while the sword would choose two. This would then prompt you to go to a Local Blacksmith to visit the Blacksmith and go into weapon customization. The choice will appear above sell on the list of choices when you press shift to speak with him. Here you will chose your combo moves. If you chose the Broadsword handle, you would be able to choose either 3 or 4 combo moves from that weapon. If you chose the Sabre Blade however, you could add either 1 or 2 moves from its combo to the pool, and then you have your blade. Will turner makes your first weapon completely free if you keep the power of the weapon less than or equal to 5. So your blade is tooken care of, and its is now time for you to go out and do your first few quests. After killing a skeleton you will see Tia Dalma, and she will teach you about your compass. She won't exactly leave you empty handed however. You will leave the forest with more than some dumb tips about your compass. She will hand you a Skill Gem. A skill called Healing Boost will be added to a new inventory area called Parts and Gems. She will advise you to use that skill if you fight any enemies who are much stronger than you. After this you may go back to the Blacksmith and install the Gem for free at Rank 1 thanks to Tia, or pay about 150 gold to obtain Rank 2. (although that may be a good price to pay at the beginning of the game.) You may return to the blacksmith at any time to recustomize your weapons, break weapons back into parts, or make new weapons out of parts you have found. You may also modify or take gems off of weapons at your will. You may even get skills such as healing boost to Ranks 4 and 5 to really boost your advantages in combat against higher level enemies. Both parts and Gems may be obtained from enemies, and even sold to stores for extra cash. Now, don't forget this can also lead you to a local gunsmith in the future due to the biddings of Captain Barbossa. He will show you the skills of repeaters, Pistols, Muskets and Blunderbuss weapons. After this, he will give you a Blank Magazine and a Blank Barrel along with a Blank Trigger and a Blank Handle. also handing you another Healing Boost Gem, and the usual PvP coin. This will lead your travels to Tortuga, where you are prompted to a Local Gunsmith instead of Good Ol' Jack Sparrow. You will notice you are able to trade the Blank items for any weapon of your choice. You may think it is more bland than Sword customization. But when you go into the Gun Customization menu, you will notice the ability to expand your magazine. It will cost 5000 Gold to expand your Pistol Magazine by 1, 10000 Gold to expand the musket Magazine by 1, and 15000 Gold to expand a Repeaters magazine by 3. There is a lock on Blunderbuss weapons though. You will have to wait at least until level 10 to pay 20000 Gold for an expansion of 1. (Bayonets are what I consider Muskets, so their fees are the same.) Gunsmiths can add gems to your weapons, and also expands the power of the weapons and gem similar to what blacksmiths can do. You may buy some broken items from the Blacksmith, but you will not be able to trade them all in for a single type of weapon. You must find the four specific parts of the weapon either off of enemies or from various shops. Gypsys sell various Gems and can instill magical energies into your dolls and Staves for cheap. There is nothing much to pick and choose here, only the type of doll and staff you would like to use. Daggers can still have gems added to them as well, but are not so special either. Nothing much we can really do but change its color. Oh yes, I forgot one of the biggest points of this. The tint and color of your weapon. You will have a Brightness and Color meter to open up in the weapon customization menus. You may change the Handle color and Blade color of your swords and daggers. The Frame Barrels, chamber, handle, and trigger may be colored on your guns. It is also possible to change the color of your doll and make it lighter and brighter. There are even possibilities to change the color of the Blasts from your staff and the color of the wood. The tint and mood of the weapons can also be altered due to how high you make the Rust to Shine Meter or the Undead to Royal meter on your doll and staff. However, you are more cool than that aren't you? Nobody wants their weapon to stay one color, its just rather bland, and completely uninteresting. No, you should be able to make your blade look like the best on the Caribbean. It should go from Royal Knight to Dreaded Pirate, and into Cool Pirate. You can choose up to 5 sets of colors for each of your weapons pieces from which it changes color in the eyes of your pirate friends. Nothing better than showing off to all of your pals how cool your weapon is. If you have any comments, concerns or compliments feel free to post below. |
