I know why we lag......
PC: Requirements....
Windows 2000, XP, Vista 800 MHz or faster processor 512 MB RAM 32 MB 3D graphics card DirectX 9 or better 700 MB free disk space Broadband Connection (recommended) My PC: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU 3.46GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.5GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Display Memory: 1778 MB Dedicated Memory: 499 MB Shared Memory: 1278 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz) Broadband/Cable Connection 18.36MB down/ 3.45MB up - From LA is where im guessing servers are... So I beat the PC requirements, and I have a decent connection speed....so In the day's end...IT'S THERE SERVERS right????

I'm not computer savvy but I think my computer meets the requirements.
So how can an overqualified computer lag on pirates? I just can't understand that. My computer runs great on POTCO, I'm playing right now with no lag what-so-ever. I can go on for hours with no lag. Wouldn't it be server lag then? If I run great but have lag every now and then how can it be my computer? |

No such thing as over-qualified, game should be nice and stable on your machine.
Its the amount of people on one server, ship vs ship seems to lag a lot recently (annoying when coming to close sinking a ship). Should note that checking your settings, if your PC just meets the minimum requirement, probably should be set to low. |

Check to make sure a lot of other junk, particularly Instant Messengers aren't running. You can check your Task Manager (Good old CTRL-ALT-DEL in XP, etc.) and see what all is running.
Search Indexer - kill it Any kind of Trays (Adobe, QuickTime, WinZip) - kill them |

And which server(s) are you hanging out on? If it's one of the overly Ideal or Full servers, that may be a problem.

I always try to find a server with almost no one in it. Lately though I think disney may have change the way the numbers as to what makes a quiet server. I think more people are in a server now before the status changes to ideal.
I don't even try to play on any of the "A" severs. If I am on one of them I am only reading the junk that people chat there. The "A" servers to me are like the entertainment servers. |

Well, it definately could be the servers, but there are other factors, such as your internet connection that also play a role.
Such statements generally follow that hard to swallow truth... "Have no problems elsewhere" "Works fine in <insert game here>" "I can download fast, no problems!" Statements such as these apply false logic to the problem... "they work, so it must not be that..." Well compare the internet and your connection to a busy freeway/highway/roadway. Its rush hour, and I can drive to the corner store, and to the mall very quickly as there is little or no traffic in those directions, however I want to go to the other side of town, and rush hour traffic has the way jammed, and it takes 4 times as long to go the same distance. The internet is worse in the aspect that you cannot control the "directions" (or routing) you use to get where you want to go. You may for example have an absolutely excellent connection to one location, but a very poor one to another at exactly the same time. If the problem is some internet router outside the scope of your ISP, then calling your ISP when your having problems wont do you any good. Now I have made this 'arguement' relating completely to 'download' speed, however 'upload' speed, the ability to send data.. (the unadvertised statistic) is actually MORE important when gaming! Your systems ability to update the networks your connected to with your actions/commands/movements. Upload speed is usually closely monitored by ISPs and usually capped (limited). It would also suffer the same issues as the download when it comes to to "traffic" or "routing". Having a "Fast" connection, does not mean you have "Fast" enough connection to play any and every game on the net. Location, distance to servers, routing in between can be major factors. We are talking milliseconds... a few ms pause can quickly cause game lag, and you could have a super computer that fills an entire building, and it wouildnt make any difference whatsoever.... LAG. |
