Sinking other pirates - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

Ok, here's something I need an answer to. Since when have other pirates been able to sink your ship outside of PvP?

I was sailing around Cuba and there is a guild called the Cuban Gang lead by a character named GOLDSKULL who has been trying to control the waters around Cuba for some time now. Before it was no big deal because all they could do was try and block you from sinking the ghost ships.

But now it seems as if their war frigates have acheived the ramming skill and they can actually do damage and sink other ships.

So does any know if this has been round a while or is it something new and is this the only way to damage other players ships?

Well, this is not a good thing if it is so. Where is that Disney hot line?

PVP fighting is one thing, but that is something that you choose to do. I don't think this ability will fly...especially in the hands of Napoleonic pirates.

If you find it very troublesome then you can report it to Disney at www.piratesonline.com. While messaging Disney, say that you don't believe that this is fair game play, and that they should somehow be forced to not continue ruining the game.

Yes folks, I was wondering when this was going to happen. Every game I have tested, the griefers eventually show up.

Testing is one thing. If they said "Hey, can I test something? I want to see if I can sink your ship by ramming it." This would be ok.

But when they use their school-yard tactics to grief other players...nothing good comes out of their actions. The skill will probably be removed or nerfed.

"But I WAS testing it...on every ship that sailed past me! YoU r CrAzY fOoL!"

School-yard doesn't mean young. One of the worse griefers that I saw, who was in DAoC beta, ended up being a 35 year old stockbroker with 2 kids. His kids acted more mature than him! -(

Trust me Ducky, they've been reported to Disney by myself and others and they are still around so who knows if that does any good. They are testers and I'm sure Disney will want to keep all the testers they have and might not be inclined to lose any at this stage.

Guilds/clans whatever you prefer to call them have a legitimate place in MMOs like this. There will always be good and bad guilds, part of the MMO experience. Nothing better that a good clan war to get the blood pumping. But since the game has been set up to PvP away from the main game in its own area/server and we are not supposed to be able to kill each other except in PvP, this group is just exploiting a bug in the game to control territory.

i was in an instance last night with a group of DEVS and other players complaining about them.. but also incase anyone forgot.. a while back one of the builds made the open seas PVP all the time.. your pirats just cant die but u can loose your ship..its all part of the fun..

It would make the game more interesting if this was an earned skill. The fact that it is one-sided right now isnt any fun. Also I think there should be an area where this is allowed, but maybe a shipping channel for regular travel where it isnt allowed. I ran into Goldskull earlier today and he was pouting about the game be boring since he was scolded, lol. But this a game about pirates, historically not the most friendly people on earth.

Very true wildtaz, but at least during that build even the lowest level players could return fire and do damage to their attackers. That is not the case in this instance. Not everyone has reached a high enough level to have these same skills or these large ships, and firing cannons at them does nothing to them.

And they have no problems attacking and sinking any ship that sails into Cuban waters, newbie who knows nothing, or tester who's been there since the start. Their motto be join us or die. If you don't join they sink you.

I have no problem with being attacked. I have no problem dieing at the hands of a more skilled player, but give me the ability to return fire and do some damage of my own in kind before I die and wake up in jail. And yes, your pirate does die when they sink you now and you lose morale points.

Exactly I think we should be able to sink other people's ship and get their cargo (if they have any). We are pirates, pirates aren't know for being very nice loving people LOL.

I smelled a rat and went to check it out. Sure enough, it was a trap.

Well, now the griefers are posting on these boards. They invite people out to form up groups and do a 'cave run'. Unfortunately, there are NO caves on Cuba...which I knew before-hand. Only the jungle.

So I take my sloop out and see what 'groups' are forming. Once I get near, I see frigates, both war and normal, roaming around the island. I pull into port and within 1 minute, a war frigate comes by to sink me. I jumped ship and recalled my ship in time.

As I am wading in the water, I see other sloops-light frigates-light galleons sailing to get to the 'meeting' on Cuba. And I see them all get sunk 1 by 1 by those with Ramming skills.

So, not only do we have a 'gank guild' claiming territory at Cuba...we have posters who lie on these boards to bring more players out...so they can sink them.

I seriously hope these gankers/griefers get temp bannings from the forums and the game. They are obviously bored...having paid their 20000 for their war frigates, levelled beyond all the current mobs...and need something to entertain themselves.

I wouldn't mind if they came here to roleplay as pirates. But they are not doing that at all. Roleplay in a roleplay forum is fine. Roleplaying a lying scum on regular forums should be forbidden.

What do I expect? "LOL...you fell for it! You are a fool!" replies. NO, I went to witness and screenshot what was really happening.

I agree with that perfectly.. since I can take that to antoher game I play in the last year Sony added AUTO PVP areas to Starwars Galaxies.. in that game toons can get up to lv 90 well in these zones are items that some people need to complete for other reasons well there are guild of lv 90s who just stock the area and shoot anyone that passes by even a little lv 1 newbie trying to do a quest.. it sucks.. but like most say its part of the whole role playing thing...these companies expect us to give them like 3 to 5 hours a day in game.. its nuts.. LOL

I think pirates should not be allowed to shoot other
pirates. I don't sail at all, unless I need to sail for a
quest. Pirates are supposed to work together. I was
sailing to Cuba the other day, and my ship the White
Swan was shot down over there.

It took me a week to get my morale back up to 94,
but now it is down to 83.

Personally, I would not consider sailing to Cuba.
Teleport there instead.

This Cuba Gang thing is a real pain in the neck. I am new to MMO's, I played VMK for pete's sake. I had no idea that I was going to be sunk and killed in Cuba! It cost me 71 gold to fix a light frigate. It seems kinda unfair to hog all the good ships that help you to level up in the game. They seem to be the only ones that do not shoot back. They also give huge points for sailing and cannon if you shoot the masts out first. The loot is terrific too! So, why do you think these jokers are hanging around Cuba in the first place? Then Goldskull has the nerve to put us players down for wanting to do what he and his "crew" are doing! I just find it all a little confusing. Is this Disney? I know it is pirates but it is for families. Meaning there are kids on this site, how many of them will know that to enter the waters of Cuba means death and poverty? How many parents will shell out cash so their little one can get screamed at by these people? Bunch of meanies if you ask me.
I did hear about an accord struck with another high level pirate that the Cuba Gang will stay in the Fifth Sea from now on. I hope this helps some of you. Go sink those ghost ships!!!!

I don't know about any accord stuck but I agree with you 100% - this is Disney for crying out loud - not your run of the mill mmo game! I have complained until I am blue and will continue until I see some substantial results. Let's pretend I'm a parent of a kid they are targeting this game to.... do I want my kid to learn that the only way to advance in something is by using gang tactics? These gang members may just think of this as role playing, as some have suggested, but I am familiar with real life gangs and they are using real life gang tactics even if they are not aware of it - a sad thing to teach a child. I am really serious about stopping this kind of garbage in this game. I really don't think Disney wants to be known for condonning gang violence so I really hope they will stop it immediately. I think the more people that report them, the better! And if you are not satisfied with the "bug report" search the official website and find one of the email addresses for their publicity department - they will respond AND investigate!
