Release Notes - May 15 2008
- Added new French and Spanish skeletons. French skeletons can be found on Isla Cangrejos and Spanish skeletons can be found on Cutthroat Isle. New French and Spanish skeleton ships can be found sailing around Isla Cangrejos and Cutthroat Isle, respectively. The new skeleton types are as follows:
- French:
- French Undead Maitre
- French Undead Quarter Master
- French Undead Lieutenant
- French Undead Capitaine
- Spanish:
- Spanish Undead Conquistador
- Spanish Undead Bandido
- Spanish Undead Pirata
- Spanish Undead Captain
- Added two new islands to the world:
- Isla De La Avaricia
- Ile D'Etable De Porc
- Adjusted the placement of Mother's day tattoos
- Added new ship sinking cutscenes
- Added a minimum system requirements check to the Game launcher. The minimum system requirements can be found here. Please let us know if you are getting false alerts about your machine not meeting the minimum system requirements, are getting them too frequently, or the “don’t show me again” checkbox isn’t respected.
- Added an in-game feedback form. When using this form, please be as specific as possible. Please note that you will not receive any feedback from support using this form (click here for technical support). The feedback form button icon is a question mark and can be found in two places:
- On the options menu
- On the lower corner of the screen
- In an effort to improve the early in-game experience, we have re-launched welcome worlds. This is a scaled down instance of the Pirates world that a player plays in until they launch a ship for the first time. To help us test this new and exciting feature, create a new pirate and take them for a spin through the tutorial. Please let us know about any issues that you encounter during the tutorial.
- Fixed a fire effect that wasn't cleaning itself up properly
- Added some debugging for tracking down lingering issues with textures when using the DirectX9 graphics API.
- Fixed a bug that was preventing collisions with the masts of your ship once you had been on a cannon
- A new quest titled "Skeleton Infestation" will be given out by Orinda Le Jeune located on the Tortuga Docks

Ghost Ships Menacing Test Servers Soon
May 15 2008
New Ghost Ships are coming soon to Pirates Online, bringing with them crews of brand-new enemies! Shortly, you will be able to find these undead ships on the Test Servers terrorizing passing pirate vessels. Check back here for more details on when Ghost Ships will sail into the Live game.

Just to add my guess to this, I would say "ghost ships" and "new enemies" probably refers to the new spaniards and french we saw in the concept art. I could be wrong though, I have been before. ^^

 It's time to celebrate Mother's Day ... pirate style! This Saturday and Sunday, all Unlimited Access Members should make their way over to the tattoo parlor for exclusive "I Love Mom" tattoos. Be sure to get all the Mother's Day ink you can handle before midnight (PDT) on May 12.

- New HP upgrades were implemented but not applied until a pirate levels up.
- Workaround: We are working on a patch to automatically update all pirates upon login including those at level 40.
- The compass colors representing friendlies have mistakenly been switched around - green for players and blue for in-game characters.
- Occasionally, on certain Mac computers, the game texture will seem to appear missing or distorted
- A recent AVG Internet Security update falsely detects Pirates Online's "Launcher1.exe" as a Trojan Horse.
- Workaround: Download the latest definition file from AVG released Sunday, April 27
- Occasionally, your pirate will remain as an undead pirate after a PVP match
- Occasionally, a Boss Battle crew will not remain intact after teleporting to the Boss Battle
- Flagships will occasionally sling shot left and right when grappled
- Flagships are disappearing intermittently when using a crew of 9-12 people
- Icon over avatar heads in PVP will toggle between 3 different images
- Members of the crew will sometimes get left behind when boarding a flagship, causing the player to be unable to move.
- Workaround: Hitting F1 will release the player.
- Once disabled, Flagships sometimes sink before you can successfully grapple them.
- Using Firebomb cannons on a Flagship will ultimately sink it before you can board the ship.
- Workaround: Don't use Firebomb cannons.
- The Whisper chat window closes the second time you click Whisper and try to send a message.
- Workaround: Close and re-open the Pirate's avatar panel each time you want to whisper to a fellow Pirate.
- The Lookout System seems like it is often not able to find matches for higher level Pirates looking to do PVP
- Workaround: Invite other high level Pirates to PVP before initiating the Lookout System.
- The chat panel sometimes switches to Local when you are chatting with your Guild or Crew.
- Workaround: Click either the Guild or Crew chat tab.
- On rare occasions, pressing the Enter button on the keyboard will not bring up the Chat window.
- Workaround: Click on the gold arrow next to the skull icon, which is found in the bottom left hand corner of the game window.
- Occasionally, on certain Mac computers, the game texture will seem to appear missing or distorted creating an almost snowy effect to the landscape.
- Game does not minimize when clicking Upgrade button on Mac.
- Workaround: Switch your game settings to Windowed Mode
- Grenades are not hitting the fort floors or ship floors.
- Workaround: You must hit an enemy directly to cause damage.
- Client memory usage goes up over time (i.e. memory leaks).
- Workaround: Shut the game down and restart if you see your performance degrading vastly over time.
- Vista and Mac game-related crashes occurring while boarding, sailing, and docking ships
- Workaround: For users with ATI video cards, try updating to the newest driver version which you can download from here
- Graphics issues (such as missing texture and weird display issues) on Macs, related to OS 10.5.1
- Player ships disappearing when a Server goes down and is then taken out of rotation
- Difficulty with finding the diamond on Queen's Nest, in the Recover Treasure Quest
