Need help by sinking ships (question)

Hi,
i need to sink ships, but sometime they dont sink. It comes the info that i can now boared the ship but i dont will board this ship, i will sink them. How can i do or why comes sometimes this message that i only can board the ship?.

It seems like I've answered this question before....Anyway

You have to board, because the ship you are fighting has a flag above them. Right above the ship. If there is a flag, you will board. If there is not a flag, you won't have to.
