Imagine this, the Capt. is Plundering away on his ship, happens to be Public... All of a Sudden he attracts Hunters, NICE, now for some fine Materials, the initial point of the run.

Ugh! Griefer on board, he initiates a Vote to Boot the Capt. because he wants to Port for Gold, a few Low Levels agree... Suddenly the Ship is minus it's Capt. against a Bounty Hunter and is left dead in the water to Sink!

Poor Capt. is more than capable of handling the Pesky Hunters, but because he opened to Public he now has to dredge his ship outta Davy Jones Locker... Sure gonna inspire more captains to NOT Open to Public.

Kriss.
ROFL, yes I do see great folly to allow the inmates run the asylum by voting at all. No Captain worth their salt is going to permit any voting. Does a Captain ask his/ her friends, guildmates, and complete strangers who to permit before boarding his/ her own ship? Nay. Captain already decided and checks off the boarding permission as he/ she pleases. Captain decides what to plunder for and those who agree are welcomed to board. Captain runs his/ her ship throughout the voyage commanding what the crew must do to insure their success in claiming all their plunder.

Unfortunately, through no fault of the Captain, some scallywag boards the ship and creates 'issues' with no intention of stopping their bit of drama. In such instances, Captain should be empowered to make the upstart walk the plank... or send them to the Brig.

It's quite possible for the developers to create a Brig on board the ship. Once the individual is thrown in, that individual will no longer be seen above deck carrying on. He/ she is no longer counted as a Shipmate or as a member of the crew. Whatever they earned while above deck is all they get minus any loot or materials. Meaning, they just get gold only. They have the option to therefore leave or stay on board. No one can teleport to them either because that Go To button is automatically disabled... as well as their chat. They will be unable to chat to anyone at all. The only power they have is to either stay until the Captain ports, or leave voluntarily. Doesn't matter which action they choose at that point, they are banned from playing on that server for the next 24 hours.

I like the Brig idea very much.
