I've seen lots of people try to specialise in one thing - I haven't done it myself, but I have seen many people who have, and succeeded.
Quote:
# blades
specializing in swords and daggers
easiest because you start with sword skill and can unlock dagger relatively early
|
I often see PvP jumpers who are around level 30 and have already mastered those two skills - they're of the most use in PvP for jumpers than anything else.
Quote:
munitions
specializing in guns and grenades
not so easy because you have to "keep to the code" when it comes to EITC and Navy (and other pirates in PvP? haven't tried it)
|
I haven't seen anyone do this before, and it does look quite difficult to achieve. I'm pretty sure someone's done it, but I haven't heard of it.
Quote:
voodoo
specializing in dolls and staffs
hardest to get started since doll doesn't unlock until notoriety 10 (but see below)
|
A friend of mine tried this - it wasn't so hard, and she got her doll quickly, and simply used that the whole time she fought. Though she was deleted before she could get farther. I'm certain that many people have done this, and succeeded.
Quote:
sailor
specializing in sailing and cannon
(obviously not "only" these, as you can't take out critters with cannon)
|
I've seen someone do this, and they were great. They got the skills mastered really quickly, while slowly leveling with the other things. It was amazing seeing a level 20 with such skill. :P I bet they do a lot of SvS now.
I haven't tried focusing on one or two skills for a pirate, mostly because I just can't be bothered. :P I've seen lots of people who focus on one or two skills at a time, and I find them utterly fascinating. The level 20 I was talking about was my favourite captain, and I tried to sail with them as often as I could.
If you want to see someone who focuses on dagger and sword, try Abassa Tortuga. The place is crawling with them.
