Pirates Online Forums Valentine's Fleet!

Ahoy, pirates!

I remember some time ago, back when many of you were not in these waters, that a large group of us pirates from across these forums came together and took part in a massive fleet of ships to show the Caribbean the mighty collection of pirates that this forum holds. I was in attendance at said fleet, and all I can describe it as was a sight to remember - it was truly one of my personal favorite events to have ever participated in in this game! Unfortunately for many of the pirates that have joined these forums in the past two years, they have rarely been given the opportunity to meet their fellow forums members in such a gargantuan way.

Many a times when the pirates of Pirates Online Forums meet in such a grand way, the outcome is a sight to behold - take for instance the last time an armada of such a fashion was hosted, way back on New Year's Day, 2010:

And even though these events were run by the wonderful staff here at POF, I think it's about time we see how capable us members are at organizing an event of this stature - so what do you say mates, arrr ya up to it?

Of course, we need to organize this event in the proper spirit - so, without further adieu, lemme try my hand at this:

*ahem*

Valentine's Day is a great holiday to spread some

Love, :val07:

Flowers, :smiley64:

And of course, kisses! :kishug:
(The chocolate kind, of course :pirate6:)

But as much "fun" as this all is, it just doesn't seem "piratey" enough for me!

Come join your fellow POF members and I on a fleet around Antik on

Sunday, February 19th, at 5:00 PM Eastern

10:00 pm UK
4:00 pm CST
3:00 pm MST
2:00 pm PST
1:00 pm Alaska
12:00 pm Hawaii
7:00 am Australia (Sydney)

We will gather on the island of Devil's Anvil (near Barbossa's Grotto) before launching our fleet on to the open waters!

The flag ship for our event shall be the Victory Shark War Frigate, which will be distinguished out of the others by the War Master Badge :skull:

Our path for the armada is shown on the map below, indicated by the yellow trail (with the larger dot indicating where we will start.)

(Yes I realize my map is outdated - bare with me :laughks2:)

Once we reach Port Royal, we'll BLOCKADE it by forming a circle around the entire island!

And remember to keep to the Pirate Code throughout the event - do not stop to engage enemy ships; just broadside them as you pass! :pirate_flag:

Also,

If you want to sail from Isla de Avaricia or Ile D'Etable de Porc, remember that's fine as well - just don't shoot at your fellow forums members!

So, as a recap, :th1287fm4:

What: A Pirates Online Forums Valentine's Fleet!
When: Sunday, February 19th, at 5:00 PM Eastern

A reminder that the fleet is TODAY at 5:00 PM Eastern. Hope to see you all there! Bring your mates!

Captain Del 02-20-2012 12:10 AM

Fleet is in half an hour! We may start a few minutes late to comfort a few stragglers, but nevertheless come early to socialize with your fellow forum members!

Nate Swordwalker 02-20-2012 02:01 AM

'Twas certainly a fun event! Didn't like the part where I lost 106 gold for repairs, 3 materials, and a skull chest! :( Great event, Del!

Platinum Pirate 02-20-2012 02:15 AM

You sank?

It was great indeed. As expected, it took a life of its own as Captains sank Hunters and any threatening ship that crossed broadsides with one of our own. I enjoyed the number of pirate flags most eared off of Devil's Anvil. Not long after we set forth on that path, a few of them earned bones and alerted their respective Hunters and the fun continued.

Only strange thing for me though was off of Cutthroat. Every one of us were sinking Hunters, or at least trying through that crowd and all that lag, oh yes those hunters had it coming, they only have themselves to blame! Sorry, Chicago started playing. Anyway, as I was saying, suddenly, our fleet practically disappeared.

What happened?

A fine addition to POF's list of fleets!

It was a warm Sunday afternoon in the Caribbean as the pirates from POForums gathered at Devil's Anvil to partake in a "small" fleet with their fellow forum members! The crowd gathered slowly at first, but as time passed and the time of the event drew near, pirates began to flock in to join in the celebration!

With all of the representatives from the guilds who checked in at the event in the crew, Captain Del started off by going through the plans for the event one last time:

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-05-29.jpg

Once all the plans were given and everything was prepared, the orders were given to head off the coast of Devil's Anvil, and await further instruction through the chain of command:

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-06-50.jpg

But we were ambushed! Just off the coast of Devil's Anvil, two Navy Bounty Hunters (the En-Garde and the Scorned Siren) were waiting to take on the fleet to make sure us pirates never reached our objective! Little did they know that the numbers game was playing in our favor BY FAR, and the pirates swarmed the two invaders!

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-08-38.jpg

With the appetizers destroyed to bits in a matter of a minute, we then assumed our spot off the coast of Tortuga. Unfortunately there was a little miscommunication, with a few pirates under the impression we were forming a blockade on the spot, but we were quick to clear that up and move on with the offensive!

We charged off in to battle, sailing our way towards Isla Perdida!

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-14-34.jpg

..But AGAIN, the Navy tried to thwart our plans!

Another bounty hunter, this time a Battle-Royale, was swimming around the coast of the jungle island waiting to capitalize on the confusion in the pirate forces. However, the pirates quickly got back on their feet and decimated the poor Ship of the Line - as Captain C Ray said, "He never knew what hit him!"

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-15-19.jpg

The Fleet continued on it's campaign of destruction around the Caribbean, but I couldn't help but get the feeling that something fishy was about... bounty hunters don't just pop out of nowhere like that, do they? Sure enough, my suspicions were correct!

As the pirate fleet neared the crosshairs of Padres Del Fuego and Cutthroat Island, (ironically in the middle of where the "Triangle of Terror" took place, and just a way off from where the "Battle of the Scoundrels" was,) we were attacked! An armada of Bounty Hunters sent from Kingshead was waiting for us, but the pirates did their best to spearhead the attack by taking a stand!

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-21-47.jpg

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-23-57.jpg

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-26-32.jpg

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-26-57.jpg

The pirates fought valiantly, but before long the hunters began to swarm us, and one by one pirate captains fell in to the depths of Davy Jones' Locker! Those of us who remained decided it was time to embrace the noblest of pirate traditions, and it was so ordered that we would hightail ourselves back to Port Royal!

Naturally, I was enraged! It was the first time in many moons that the Navy was able to turn the tides of battle on us like that - perhaps those number of months off from battle really got to us! I knew that we had to take immediate action against those British, lest we wanted them to trap us on Port Royal and send us all to the gallows - so, in a matter of moments, the survivors and I gathered a mob on the docks of Port Royal, and prepared for a riot!

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...9_17-36-17.jpg

We ran around Port Royal with a fury, blasting staffs, throwing grenades, shooting pistols, and doing anything we could to stir up a ruckus, pirate-style! The British took word of the fighting going on in the streets, and quickly made an attempt to prepare their forces in Fort Charles - but, it was no use!

We kicked down the doors to the fort and brought the battle back to those rats, destroying all of their attempts to repair after the last raid we did on the Navy stronghold! It wasn't before long that the fort once again called for a truce, and the pirates and I did what we always do to celebrate - dance!

I want to thank all the POForums members who came out yesterday to make the event such a wonderful success! For the fact that the event was limited to just one forum, it really shows that when we come together as a forum we can do extraordinary things, so I thank you for helping restore my faith in this community just a little more than always!

A special thank you to the mates at Black Barts Krewe for coming down on such short notice - your efforts really helped make the difference, and I thank you for that!

Other guilds in attendance were Partners N Crime, Fury Legion, Fortitudine Piratus, Team SvS, The Wrath of Me, Pirate Guild 936719, Blood for Blood, D3$troy, Platinum Pirate, Dead Men's Army, and Pirate Curse, as well as all of those independent freebooters who came out to help the cause. All of you put together provided for one great showing of pirate strength, and without you all, I doubt we would have made it that far against our enemies!

Keep a weathered eye on the horizon, mates! I want revenge on those Navy dogs fer their treachery...

leo 02-20-2012 11:13 PM

Sorry for my late attendance but it was fun while I was there. As always, great work organizing the event Del.

Platinum Pirate 02-21-2012 01:08 AM

Oh my...

What was I thinking when I sailed the remainder of the course as planned and when I finally dropped anchor, uh, uhm, hehe, boarded my ship and sank the rest of those Hunters left behind? all... by... myself? True story!
