The Partner's Codex - PNC Rules and Qualifications

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...logobetter.png

The partners in crime are pirates who have always upheld the highest standards of maturity and respect in the Caribbean; barring their status as some of the fiercest and toughest pirates in all of the Seven Seas, they have worked towards ensuring that they create a greater atmosphere not only across the fair islands of Pirates of the Caribbean Online, but also at home in our guild. For four years we have worked continuously to aid ourselves and others in the thousands of journeys we have taken part in over the years, and we have only hoped that what we expect of our members will echo through them, and those around them.

These pirates, thusforth, have been held to a set of guidelines and rules as ageless as the waves we tread on ourselves, and though aged, have remained timeless through the years as some of the key foundations to creating an admirable guild. On top of the Pirate Code set down by Morgan and Bartholomew, these pirates follow a Codex that has established the basis of what is meant to exemplify kindness and compassion even in the lands of the Caribbean. Whether a Member or a Co-Guildmaster, EVERY pirate within our guild is expected to know and follow these rules, and none, not even myself, are exempt from following them.

Our guild is based on five corner stones, each meant to signify the characteristics that we seek to find in each of our members; Leadership, Family, Compassion, Determination, and Understanding. It is by these five traits we expect our members to uphold standards that will help them keep not only our game community strong, but our bonds as friends and family members stronger. This is expressed in the following set of rules, based on common courtesy, to help maintain the atmosphere of our guild in a respectable manner:

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...odexbetter.png

--RESPECT YOUR FELLOW GUILDMATES! The simplest yet most important rule of our guild. Partners are expected to treat their fellow guildmates as you would family members, for in a sense we will always act as each other's family whenever needed. Harassment, annoying or aggressive behavior, and/or making others feel uncomfortable intentionally is acceptable.
  • Our guild is very open with one another, and as such we have opened ourselves as a guild of great diversity. We as a guild house people of all races, religions, sexual orientations, affiliations, and backgrounds, and as such it is expected that each and every one of our members remains open-minded and tolerant of the others who may be found here. While we are not asking you to change what you believe in, we are asking you to respect and love others for who they are - and those who feel otherwise will be asked to leave.
  • Additional respect is to be paid to the Staff Members of the guild (Veterans, Officers, Senior Officers, Co-Guildmasters, and myself) for the work that they invest in the guild. While the Staff in NO WAY is treated better than the members, we ask that you look up to them as a sign of respect.
--Have fun! Remember, the key to being in a guild that will carry you far is being in one that makes playing the game all the better! While we will always make sure to keep our members happy and active, if you feel that our guild is not the best suit for you, we completely understand.
  • Remember that it's just a game! Pirates who are bad sports or tend to get worked up while playing (outside of role-playing, of course) may not be good fits in our guild. We are very competitive with one another, but everything is done for the sake of fun and should never be taken too seriously.
  • We would ask that if you are not enjoying something in-game, that you do not ruin the fun for others. If we are doing a role-playing event, but you would rather not participate, don't dampen the mood for others - simply go have fun with another activity. Players who ruin the fun for others may be spoken to about being in the guild.
--Always ask permission before you teleport to other members in the guild! It is common courtesy to make sure others want you to come join them before you actually do so, as some pirates prefer to respect their privacy. As such, it is necessary that you ask your fellow guildmates permission to teleport to them before doing so.
  • Pirates are allowed to freely teleport to one another when they are in the same crew. Crews are made for the common purpose of playing the game together, so unless specified otherwise, you are always allowed to teleport to a pirate if they are in the same crew.
  • The other exception to this rule is if a pirate requires immediate help, whether they were knocked out or are in deep trouble. A simple "HELP!" is all the permission you need to go to the aid of your guildmate, which we would very much appreciate if you did.
--Show courtesy to all pirates, regardless of who they are or what guild they are in! Partners in crime are leaders in the Caribbean for their selflessness and willingness to cooperate with others in the kindest way possible As such, every partner is expected to treat every pirate they encounter with the upmost dignity and respect, in hopes that we will be treated the same way in return.
  • GRIEFING OF OTHER PIRATES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN ANY WAY! Griefing is defined as harassing, bothering, or fighting with other players in an attempt to evoke a response or to cause harm/show disrespect to that person, or their guild. Regardless of how a pirate/guild has treated you in the past, when you are in this guild you are to hold yourself to a higher standard than choosing to pick fights with others. As such, griefing other pirates will more often than not result in immediate ejection from the guild.
  • When aboard another pirate's ship, you are to respect that pirate's authority as captain of his or her ship. Being aboard another pirate's ship makes you their guest, so it is paramount that you listen and adhere to the captain's orders with all respect that is due. If you do not agree with the actions of a captain aboard a certain ship, we would ask that you simply leave the ship and look for another.
  • When looting or leveling with other pirates, be sure to remain courteous and put yourself before others. As we are taught when we are younger, "sharing is caring;" if you and another pirate are fighting together, make sure that you both get an equal share of the loot/reputation, and never be afraid to let others join in on the fun! However, we ask that when our members look to loot or fight with another group of pirates first that you ask before doing so, as a simple sign of respect for - and, should they decline, that you simply bid them farewell and go find another spot.
--Ask politely for help when needed! Every pirate needs help at one time or another, and our members will always be willing to help a fellow pirate in need. However, please remember that when asking for help in the guild that you do so nicely - do not demand for help, but rather see if anybody would be willing to give you a hand. You will find that asking for help kindly will often garner a kinder response.
  • Be willing to reach out a helping hand, as well! The key to creating a stronger, tightly-knit guild is relying on one another, so whether you be a Co-Guildmaster or a fresh Member off the docks, you should always do your best to help others. While you don't necessarily have to spend all of your time helping other pirates, you should do your best to make an effort and help your mates!
--Never request a promotion within the guild! We are very careful about who we promote as a guild as we wish to keep a very good hold on our guild, so promotions are handed out sparingly around these waters. Rest assured, we are always willing to promote a pirate when we feel that they have shown that they are an active part of the guild, have spent a considerable amount of time as a loyal member, and have positively contributed to the guild as a whole.
--Use of glitches, hacks, or third party programs is frowned upon! Our guild goes by a general rule of thumb when it comes to issues like this: If it affects the game, the guild, or gives you an unfair advantage over others, it is not allowed.
  • "Glitches that give you an advantage" are just that; glitches that can be used to gain advantage over another pirate in any way, shape, or form. For example, using a glitch to help yourself survive in PvP or doing the Muertos Moon would result in a strike, as you are using an unfair advantage put yourself ahead of the game. Another example would be an exploit with a quest that would allow you to gain continuous rep from it. We're a guild that plays the game fairly, and will not have anybody thinking otherwise.
  • "Glitches that affect the game" are glitches that, when used, create lag or other negative affects on game servers. For example, glitches such as the "Swift Foot Glitch" are known to, when used by multiple pirates, create enough lag to wipe an entire server clean. This is unfair to other pirates who did not want to take part in what you are doing, as now you have impacted their playing time. If you are unsure whether or not a glitch has an affect on the game, we will be able to tell you.
  • "Glitches that affect the guild" are glitches that, when used, may attach stereotypes to our guild that would give our guild a negative image. While we ourselves are not ones to stereotype others, certain glitches such as the "PvP Glitch" tend to carry a bag enigma with them that could put our guild in a bad light if they are used.
  • Innocent glitches like the quick route to General Darkhart, glitching off of a ship, and other glitches that can be used just for fun are allowed. However, if there is any confusion as to if we allow a glitch or not, simply ask an Officer. There is no reason why you should be confused as to if we allow a certain glitch or not.
  • As I stated briefly before, we are an honorable guild who believes that you should work for what you wish to achieve. However, we have encountered certain guilds and pirates in the past who believe that using certain programs is fine so long as "you don't get caught," or because "they're pirates." However, we are better than stooping low enough to use macros and hacks - as such, any pirate caught using a hack, macro, or third party program to cheat will be immediately ejected.
--Spamming, swearing, using annoying chat, or discussing inappropriate topics in guild chat will not be tolerated! Please keep in mind when speaking in the guild that we do have a group of younger members, and as such we must do our best to make sure that the atmosphere of the guild remains PG-13. While we will let some maturer topics flutter around as we like an open forum of discussion to take place, there will be times when I or one of the Officers may deem a topic inappropriate, and may step in to change the conversation. We will not do these to force others to withdraw their opinions - we only ask that we keep our members from sparking harsh debates or topics that may results in bans from Disney.
  • Spamming/annoying chat would be defined as bursting out with random phrases and/or repetition of characters, such as "?!?!?!?!??!?!?!" "Rainbow!" "I like pineapples!" "Tree!" Too much of this behavior will often irritate other members, so we ask that you try to keep it to a minimum.
  • Proper punctuation and grammar is strongly encouraged! On top of eliminating the feeling of "noobish" typing, proper keyboarding makes communication between members a lot easier, which is the key to keeping the guild round and happy. Although it may be difficult for some of our younger members to type properly, it is necessary you try your best to type in the most correct manner possible.
--Ejections will be made on a three-strike basis. The first time a rule is broken, it will result in a warning. The second time this is done, it will result in a members first "strike," and they will continue on from there until three strikes are attained, in which the member would be ejected from the guild. However, in the cases of disrespect of other pirates and griefing, more immediate routes to removal from the guild may be taken if deemed necessary by the Officers and I.
  • Once a pirate is ejected from the guild, you will not be allowed to rejoin! Only in the most extreme of cases will we allow previous rule-breakers to rejoin, but if this is done consider yourself extremely lucky.
  • In some cases, pirates may be put on a "Probationary" period, in which they will be observed closely by the Officers to ensure they are behaving properly. The terms of a "probation" period often vary, and are usually discussed between the member involved and the Officers in private.
  • If a pirate leaves on his or her own free will on two occasions, they will not be allowed to rejoin! We do not appreciate pirates "guild hopping" between our guild and others, so we ask if you plan to join, that you are willing to stay loyal to us.

All members, whether they be Members or Co-Guildmasters, are expected to know and follow these rules at all times.

For pirates to be able to join Partners N Crime, they must be prepared to meet a few qualifications to make sure they will work well within the guild:

http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu92/pncgm/quals.png

--Must be a mature pirate. While we are accepting of all pirates, regardless of age or background, we ask that pirates who look to join this guild find themselves willing to contribute to a more "mature" atmosphere. Our guild is comprised of a good group of mature, fun-loving teenagers and adults, so while we do look for pirates who are willing to have a good time and enjoy the game, we ask that you are also able to keep yourself under control and well-behaved... even for pirates ;)
--Must be friendly and fun-loving! Partners N Crime is a guild whose primary goal is to build friendships through enjoying Pirates Online to the fullest extent, so pirates who wish to join must be prepared to...
  • Interact with your fellow guildmates! Being social is key to being a member in our guild, as nearly all of our activities are done together as a guild. As a partner, you need to be willing to mingle and socialize with every member, regardless of who they are or how long you have known them.
--Must be tolerant of other systems of belief, ideas, and ideals. Given the diversity of our guild, it is very likely you will find at least one person who you will disagree with. Despite this, you are to treat every member with equal love and dignity, as in this guild we are all one another's family members, and should be treated as such no matter who they are.
--Be as out-going as you can be! Usually shyness and partners in crime are two things that never mix, as we are notoriously one of the most open and LOUD guilds in the Caribbean! Pirates who are considering joining the partners must be prepared to play an active part not only when it comes to interacting with their guild members, but as well as the Pirates Online Community as a whole.
  • Every partner should make an effort to help every pirate possible, no matter if they are a long time friend or a stranger off the street. Our guild has for a long time been an example for others, so every pirate is expected to help keep that going by doing their best to aid and lead their pirate brethren.
--Must be an active player. As much as we hate to remove pirates from the guild due to inactivity, as well value every single one of our members, we like to keep our guild clean and "unclustered." This means, if you are looking to join the partners, you must be willing to come on as often as possible.
  • Real life ALWAYS comes first when it comes to playing the game, and we understand that. If you have to go inactive due to real life obligations, nothing will be held against you.
--Open Chat is recommended, yet we still accept those pirates with SpeedChat Plus. However, to all those pirates with SpeedChat Plus, if you wish to join, please be aware that the majority of our members include those with Open Chat. As such, Disney's POTC may decide to censor some content they deem inappropriate for SpeedChat Plus Users, althought all members will try to make their best effort in keeping guild chat SpeedChat Plus friendly. If you would like to try and change your chat permissions to Open Chat, Disney's Parental Control's phone number is 866-993-6263.

I hope that these rules and guidelines have provided you with a fair image of what our guild is like. If you have any questions, or need something to be clarified, simply private message one of the Officers or I, or post in the thread below.

Happy pirating, mates!

I would please like to reiterate, it is necessary before applying for membership in the guild that you read thoroughly and understand each of these rules. Serious action will be taken against those who fail to have read/understand the rules!

The General Rules and Qualifications have been updated to create a more friendly guild enviroment:

Quote:

--RESPECT YOUR FELLOW GUILDMATES! This is also a POTCO rule as well. PNC members are expected to show respect to all members as this Guild was founded in hopes that such a rule will always remain, no exceptions. We are an open minded, tolerant guild, that is filled with people of all ages, races, religions, affiliations, and sexual orientations. As such, we DO NOT appreciate any jokes or comments that are directed towards a specific person/group, and may cause for one to feel unappreciated or unwelcome. We aren't asking you to change what you believe in, but we are asking you to be curtious to all other peoples. Harassment, annoying behavior, and making other players feel uncomfortable is NOT acceptable. Anyone who thinks that they can get away with showing disrespect to any member what so ever shall be dealt with ASAP by the Officers, Co-Guildmasters, and Guildmaster.
Quote:

--Must be tolerant of other systems of belief, ideas, and ideals. We are all a family in this guild, so being rude and/or biased towards one person just because they are something that you don't believe in is more than frowned upon.
Changes/updates are in bold, and have been added to the original post.

To uphold a mature playing atmosphere while still keeping all of the fun that comes with the guild, a revisement has been made to member qualifications which has both separated fun-loving and mature, and has elaborated as to what being "mature" in our guild necessarily means.

Quote:

--Must be friendly fun-loving. The Partners N Crime community is a guild that is based on friendship, fun, and pretty much having a good time. As such, you must be prepared to interact with others, as well as be able to take a joke or two. We aren't the kind of people that like to bring others down, and we certainly aren't trying to be mean. What we are trying to do, is expand our circle of friends, and try to have a good time.

--Must be a mature pirate. While we are accepting of all pirates, regardless of age or background, we must ask that you make sure you would be able to fit well with the mature atmosphere of the guild. Our guild is comprised of a large group of very mature teenagers and adults, and as such we always like maintaining an atmosphere that, while is fun-loving, is not crazy to the point where it becomes childish.

MAJOR changes have been made to the guild rules! Please review the entire thread on your own time and ask any questions if you feel like you do not understand!

Captain Hector 02-07-2012 05:26 AM

I have read and agreed to the guild rules and qualifications, and these ones, but still I have a question. I cannot recite the guild rules (yet I do know them enough to obey them), so, what are the exact changes?

Tia 02-07-2012 06:05 AM

I agree and understand these rules :)
I'll try talkin to them about getting me to Open Chat

I took the liberty of making a small thread right here that points out where the biggest changes were made. Other than that, we basically just clarified things that have been around and known in our guild, just never put on physical paper ;)
