Guide to Fishing!

Guide to Fishing!

Ahoy mates! Ye all have heard the stories of new fish lurking about these Caribbean waters? If ye have, ye may have also heard of the great beasts of the sea. Not just an ole fish! I'm talking 'bout The Legendary Fish!

Well, most of you are familiar with the mini game called Fishing. Yes? Ok good, now onto the important stuff. Well, a couple months ago I created a thread about Legendary Fish. I was wondering if anyone had caught any, where to look, was it hard, who had screenshots? Stuff like that. Well, I kept trying and trying for at least one of the 5 Legendary Fish, and after a LONG time, I finally caught one. :degen: :piratewheelgo2:

So, I am going to make a (hopefully) helpful guide on how to catch these Legendary Fish. I think I have developed a great way to catch them. Over a 4 day period, I recorded which fish I caught, where, and how many. I saw 9 Legendary fish over that 4 day period and I was successful in catching 6 of them. I present to you my guide, and hopefully you have some luck! :D

Part 1: Access to the Legendary fish.

First off, to be able to fish for the Legendaries, you need to have three things:
a) A Fishing Boat
b) Mastered fishing
c) Legendary Lures

Part 2: Choosing your spot.

Now, I know that catching these fish are luck, but I do have 3 spots that I prefer when fishing.

a) Padres Del Fuego

b) Rocks in between the SvS Island

c) By Devil’s Anvil

Part 3: Casting and catching.

This is what I do when I cast my lure, and before I start the actual hunt for the fish. This part will take some patience, but pays off. Cast your lure as far as you can go, and drag it down all the way to the bottom. Once there, find your max depth. When you know your max depth, you need to catch ALL the fish that are NEAR your lure. This helps because once you get all these fish out of the way, you can let your lure drift back by itself, without worrying about having to avoid fish. I repeat, any fish that you can see from where your lure is sitting, CATCH.

Catch those ^^

Generally, if you have to catch more than 6 or 7 fish to clear out your space, pick a new spot, because it will take a long time.

Ok, so once you clear all those fish out, you should have your screen looking like this when you hit your max depth:

Now, if you have done all this right, you should end up with one of these:

**NOTE: I encountered Fire Dragon, but my computer froze so he got away before I had a chance of getting a screenshot OR trying to catch him.

**Another Note: :P By doing this, it has never taken me more than 10 minutes to catch a Legendary Fish after the drifting spot is all cleared out! Good luck!

Ok, hope you enjoyed my guide, and if you have any questions or comments, ask below! :D

Great guide! I have just 2 things to add though, if I may. First, I catch speedy a lot by Padres, and got mossy by Devil's Anvil. Second, You can also lure the fish to the top, and even have them clear out the little fish for you by eating them. This way no more fish spawn.

SEAKING23 03-09-2011 10:47 PM

Yeah, i love that trick, but its expensive. Lures cost a lot of money!

Pirate Guy 03-11-2011 04:30 AM

Again, good guide, but maybe change the title to "Guide To Catching Legendary Fish!"

I haven't done any fishing yet. Is it even vaguely important in the overall scheme of things? Or is it just a nice way to relax and take a break from all that violence?

It's mostly there for fun, but you do get a good amount of Rep and gold from it. So if you need some money or some quick easy rep, fishing is the way to go!

Yes, I imagine I will see how important it can be when I beat the boss monster to death with my fishing rod. "Level 30 fishing! Take that!"

I found the fisherman ghost on Raven's Cove who asked me to catch 12 tuna for him, to ease his conscience. I thought I would have to do that from a boat, and I had to get to a certain level of fishing before I could buy a boat.

Then I caught a tuna off the Port Royal dock, and I said, "Oh, wait...."

lol blew my mind when my friend with lvl 7 Fishing attracted a Legendary fish this past Saturday. I was under the impression you had to master fishing to activate them. Nope.

I ended up catching one at Fishing 14 after triggering it at Fishing 11. Did this for both of my young pirates. I caught Glittering Girl and Speedy Lou. And I learned that you don't need to cast your lure as far away as possible from your boat. Or, even have it go down as deep as possible. The trick is to find the right spot where your lure stands a good chance of not being eaten by certain level of fishes. Very funny when the cinematic starts to play and all those fishes make a break for it. rofl

Congrats Gamecrazy. He was the one my young pirate first saw but lost. Twice that happen and on the third attempt, he got a winner.
