specialized pirates?
i was just wondering if anyone has tried to make a "specialized" pirate. i've seen others do similar things in other games; sometimes they call it being a "pure (name your skill)". i know from the Black Pearl quest that there are some things you have to do with a particular weapon, so you can't get around that and still complete the quest - and there's "the code" for guns. but what about these? :psmiley27:
i was thinking it might be possible to do something weird like master fishing and potions to get started towards voodoo doll, and then try to master doll to reach level 30 and unlock staff. of course, once you'd master those, you'd probably want to (or need to) move on to something else to fully master the pirate. has anyone though of, or tried (or accomplished?!) anything like that? :william: |
I've seen lots of people try to specialise in one thing - I haven't done it myself, but I have seen many people who have, and succeeded.

I haven't tried focusing on one or two skills for a pirate, mostly because I just can't be bothered. :P I've seen lots of people who focus on one or two skills at a time, and I find them utterly fascinating. The level 20 I was talking about was my favourite captain, and I tried to sail with them as often as I could. :) If you want to see someone who focuses on dagger and sword, try Abassa Tortuga. The place is crawling with them. |

Cougar is my SVS Specialist - with maxed cannons and points configured to favor svs.
Kat Five is my treasure hunter.. with the famed Golden Charm and maxed treasure sense - I use her when the guild want to go sailing for plunder and gold. I have not decided Jag's fate or Fire Tigress.. But I do like the idea of specializing your pirates. I usually make that decision when they are close to mastering, and depending on the luck of their drops. |
I think you left out something....
Grenades. My third pirate has, Cannon, Sailing, Sword, gun, Dagger, and getting grenades. I'm gonna master Grenades first. Favorite weapon. |
Having eight master pirates, I have a few that fit ye Arch type mold. I have one that is the voodoo specialist. He has quite the collection of voodoo dolls. Other have blades, example two use primarily sabres. Two cutlasses. One is as ye described has a fine selection of blades.
All my pirates are sailors. Because this is my favorite game activity. It would be nice to have new skills thrown into the mix so ye could be more specialized. Ye can specialize as a master pirate, but at lower levels it would be very difficult for the reason ye stated. Who knows what the future holds for our game? This may come to be next year. |

Therefore, the so-called experts** of pvp aren't even sure of the full potential/use of PvP. ~~~~ * Been Awhile, I forgot which one causes the major damage. ** Also known as "Jumpers." ==== I really hope no "pro" jumpers read that.... :zu032b: |
Svsers = Master sailing/cannon or just sailing/cannon depends on what they do
Pvpers = Master sword/dagger or just sword For mains, they should level equally until they get 20, then master grenades and even everything else out. I'm a main so, and my other pirate is a pvper. |

I know one person, my GM Blade who is doing that with a pirate right now.
On my secondary pirate (Capin Otter, PnC), i had a leftover Jack's Brew. I used it and got from lv 17- almost 21 notoriety and lv 20- almost 27 sword. So, I guess I'll master sword first, considering all my other weapons are below lv 10 :P . |
