What Is Retraining?

I am unclear as to what exactly retraining is. I have not really used it yet.

As a weapon - say a sword - goes up a level, you get a point you can use to increase abilities - such as hack - or bring in new ones - such as flourish. My impression is that retraining resets all those bilities back to default so that you can reassign them in completely different ways. Is this correct?

I have been going thru this forum and seen the basic instructions, and nowhere that I have found is this explained clearly.

That is correct. Retraining is very very helpful. As you unlock new ammos and skills, old ones become obsolete and you want to resign skill points to the better skills. Use it wisely though. It gets increasingly expensive as you retrain, to the point were it costs 10,000 gold each time.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind.

So far I think I've been using the skills the way I need. However, I think I've paid for two retrainings now for the sword while not knowing what it was for.
