How many players total do you think are on each day?

Title says the question.

0-10,000? 50,000? 100,000? 250,000+? What's your guess to how much traffic Disney's Pirates Online servers get?

If you ask me, I believe it rarely goes above 250,000 at one point during the day. Or maybe my estimate could be way off. I wouldn't know.

This does not count what disney claims saying "These are how many players signed up to play our game". No, because they could just make the account and forget about it. That doesn't count if its the same person.

100,000 more or less... I think it depends. On the season, time of day, what just came out, etc.

So true.

Like if 2 story chapters were coming such as kraken story and latest Pirates Online film story line, all in one patch, then yes, the game would have 100,000+ or more just for the first week or two.

i have no idea how many might be on any given day, but when there's something new and cool in Pixie Hollow, a certain guild is conspicuous by their absence - and yes, i'm guilty. :laughks2: :tinkerbell:

You mean at once? Less then 10,000.

RuneScape has 200,000 players online a day and over 200 million players are registered on it. It has over 180 worlds (potco probably has 30 in my guess) and theres 1000-2000 players in each world on RuneScape.

Now what makes anyone say that theres over 100,000 players on potco a day, every ocean would be ideal and busy.

Ok, looks like I know POTCO can't have even near 100,000 players at one time because "Full" labeled servers can have a capacity of 1,000 players at once.

1,000 x 30 for all full = 30,000

and seeing how most servers are labeled "Quiet", it explains why disney could be on edge with funds and hire people who aren't "top-of-the-line" at programming, or even near to compete with a retail product.

So, just call this game a "community project" rather than a "big boy business" project.

lerzba 10-06-2011 01:20 AM

Well, I wasn't really comparing them that way, just showing the estimates and I didn't know the capacity.

My estimate would be around 4,000 playing a day. Maybe more at night.

Last time the leader board was working. (it quit working about a week ago again)
I was ranked 3903 with 1 kill so 4000 doesn't seem to far off to me either.

Yeah, due to #'s like that, this game is more like a big community project, not a big business product.

Alright, since there's a limit in place... I'd say probably 6,000 on in mid-day in the summer. So on average, probably about 4,500. Still depends on the season, time of day, and what just came out though.

Right, the population reaching a peak that's never happened before would heavily be dependent on the content and such.

I do not know the exact limit for these servers, but 1,000 seem to be around the reasonable about.

I have one source: My experience on Toontown

What year(s)? = 2003-2006

Toontown had a population count function in the game for the channels in the game, and it stated the exact # of players in a given channel. The most populated channel would always be near 1.3k each day. Big content weeks would have 3k+ at times, but that's when servers always crashed, and when developers were being more widely taught in colleges to always implement population limits for every channel they have on an MMO product.

It was extremely laggy when the population was at 1k+, FPS and actions come late. 1k is enough load for a channel.

ruisen2000 10-06-2011 03:40 AM

There was a statistics last year, and POTCo mentioned that there are currently 5000 active players. So I'd say about 2000-3000 per day.

lerzba 10-06-2011 08:57 AM

On weekends there should be around 4,000 - 4,500 players online. Most of them are online at night, on other days I'd have to say only around 2,000. Most of these players are F2P and do not pay for membership.

If PotCo doesn't get big, they might shut it down before it even gets to the new chapters, just like Disney shut down VMK.

So let's all hope to see more active players in the future. Hopefully the new updates (if they ever come) will bring more players.

I doubt that this will happen. POTCO is pay to play, and I'm sure that there's a considerable amount of users that pay for Unlimited Access. On the other hand, VMK was completely free, did not offer pay to play options, and was (originally) intended solely for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland -- and that's basically why it was shut down.

lerzba 10-08-2011 01:22 AM

Don't know, but I do know that more players used to play 2 years ago, then today. Everyday players are quitting and a lot of them stopped paying until the new updates come out, I really would like to see a major update happen. It will bring thousands of player back.
