Blackjack - bugged?

Doesn't it always seem that in Blackjack, when you do hit, you get a face card or a 10? :skull:

Peggo 11-07-2007 11:58 PM

I never noticed that.

Commonly you do, because there are more face cards and 10s then there are other cards

4 10s
4 Jacks
4 Queens
4 Kings

Actually the odds of a face/10 card to an ace-9 card is 2:5 so it is more probable to get a number card.

You mean 5:8.

Uh oh, this brings flashbacks of fifth grade math. That's weird indeed, and there are two explanations.

1) It's a bug.

2) You have bad luck.

whatever the odds...the dealer ususally gets 21 when i play...grrr

bmm1321 02-28-2008 03:32 AM

im with ya i think he cheats like he says we do

Best way to guarantee you don't get a face card is to double down. It is amazing. I get dealt 11, so I double down. What do I get??? a frikkin FOUR! Arrrr!

I am so frustrated with blackjack! It is a waste of time and gold to play.

I have watched the dealer draw five cards to a twenty-one when I was standing
on 20.

I can guarantee I will be dealt 12 0r 13 about 90% of the time. If I hit I am certain to draw a face card. If I stand, dealer will draw small cards until they win.

If the dealer has an ace showing, you can rest assured that they have blackjack.

Couple that with the chintzy nature of the computer poker players, I have concluded that card games are a waste of time if you need gold.

yea i noticed that dealer gets alot more "blackjack" than any players, also every time i hit and i need a low number card i get a face card >_< and everytime i need a face card i get a low number card and end up having to hit like 5 times, i also noticed then if i had 19 dealer would get 20 if i had 17 dealer would get 18, basically whatever i had sometimes the deal would beat by just 1 number

I get 20 and stay when dealer starts at 5, then 6, then face card...end of story.

It often seems like that dealer cheats more than us ;) (and the game encourages us to)
As far as hitting low hands 12-16s, it all depends on what the dealer has showing. The dealer MUST hit until he gets 17 or more, you do not.

As far as making gold playing cards, I make more gold in 20 minutes at the blackjack table (at PDF w/500 limit) than any 2 hours of plundering.

I have all I can possibly buy, i've lost over 40k gold on purpose to friends and still have all sorts of gold, wont be much longer i'll be back up to the max. hehe

I hear you on that Samuel. I like to play BJ just because of the gold I win. I cant say how many times Ive sat down and 5 hands later I leave with a pocket full of gold...over 5K at times.

Blackjack seduces me at first with the appearance of true love: that is, it be profitable mates. Then, it just turns about faces and nags me wallet to death. I'll usually try to regain what's lost, and sometimes the money does get recovered: though the time passes, necever to be recovered, and I'm left in a sullen mood.

Poker is fun though. Recently, I've started to try to figure out what to do if the dealer gets a certain card combination at the start, but it's too much of a bother. I'll just sail and not get hit for money...

By the way, have any of you seen Rush Hour 2? I belive that Chris Rock (or is it Chris Tucker?) was two short of Blackjack. The idiot (at least in this scenario, though it was very humorous) then says "Hit me!" in the way that he says it and he only... and he gets a 2! Regardless, that is what this is reminding me of, though I'm not sure I'm remembering it exactly right...
